This quaint and charming guest cottage occupies one-half of the original farmhouse on the Claiborne & Churchill Winery and Vineyard property. It has been lovingly restored in 2015, with new appliances, flooring and furnishings. Each of the two bedrooms is furnished with a queen-size bed, bed-side tables and lamps. There is (free) WiFi throughout the cottage. The living room features a wall-mounted flat-screen TV, comfortable chairs and a large couch. In the farmhouse kitchen there is a dining table with four chairs, a double sink, and ample cupboard space, as well as a (new) electric range and oven, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. The small but full bathroom has a tub/shower, toilet and sink. There is a small laundry room with a new washer and a new dryer. From the living room and front porch there are sweeping views of vineyard and farm land, rolling hills, and in the distance the foothills of the Los Padres National Forest.

About Clay, Fredericka, and Elizabeth Thompson
We are the Thompson family: Clay and Fredericka and (daughter) Elizabeth. We are the owners of Claiborne & Churchill Winery, founded in 1983 and located in the heart of the Edna Valley, just outside the charming town of San Luis Obispo, California. We have remodeled the original farmhouse on the property so that one-half is now a vacation rental.
Clay, Fredericka, and Elizabeth Thompson purchased this Cottage in 1990
Why Clay, Fredericka, and Elizabeth Thompson chose San Luis Obispo
We fell in love with this area and its wine culture while traveling up the California coast on a business trip, away from our hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Not long after, we left our jobs in Michigan, moved to San Luis Obispo, and began working in the local wine industry, beginning our own small wine production in 1983. In 1990 we were able to purchase our present property, and in 1995 we built a small winery and tasting room using eco-friendly "straw-bale" construction methods.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our guest cottage is an ideal place to relax, wind down, and "wine-down," as we say. It also makes a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area. A dozen or more wine tasting rooms are within a fifteen minute drive, and the ocean is only five miles away, with sunning, surfing, and beach-combing opportunities. The charming towns of San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande are each within a ten-minute drive, each with its own shopping and cultural amenities. The local restaurant scene offers a variety of quality experiences, from casual to fine dining. Outdoor adventures such as biking the backroads or hiking the local trails are readily available.

Excellent location. Clean and beautiful
My first ever VRBO and I loved it. It was better than I expected. Clean, beautifully decorated and in a very lovely location.
Fantastic property! Very relaxing vibe and beautiful setting. Easy check in and accommodating hosts
One of the best Airbnb stays we have had. Beautiful setting, easy check in, fantastic hosts. Doesn’t hurt to have a winery on your doorstep!
Great property! Elizabeth was great and gave tons of recommendations for SLO and Clay was very welcoming when we got to the cottage! Very good communication. The cottage was very comfortable for 4 people! Would definitely stay here again.
Didn't want to leave!
It's the perfect half way point between SF and LA. The host and winery employees were very friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to visit. We were so happy with the house, and the beautiful setting we could have sat in the backyard and sipped wine all day. The Edna Valley wine region has a lot to explore. Thanks for the perfect stay.
Our second visit. Same fabulous little farm house, amazing hospitality and best wine ever! Can’t go wrong.
A lovely place to stay
The cottage is cozy and comfortable, plenty of room for 3 of us. Everything was immaculate. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating, with homey touches throughout. We enjoyed speaking with them and learning about the history of the vineyard and the area. Their wine was delicious. A great location near beaches, hikes and vineyards. We would recommend this as a great place to stay in the Edna Valley.
Located at The Claiborne & Churchill Winery, in the heart of the Edna Valley wine country, we are just a ten minute drive from San Luis Obispo (restaurants, shops, theater and other cultural attractions) , Pismo Beach (surfing, beach, restaurants), and Arroyo Grande (antique shopping, restaurants). Ideal location for wine tasting, biking, walking, picnicking.
