About Nadeen & Thom

We have enjoyed our cabin on Bass lake for years. We have been married for 23 years and we live in the city of Chicago and Traverse City has been our second home for 19 years. With family and friends here for years, we love the area and the natural setting of Bass Lake. We care about design, art, color and history and of course, nature!

Nadeen & Thom purchased this house in 2015

Why Nadeen & Thom chose Northwest

Its hilltop view of the lake offers a unique perspective of Bass Lake and its 4 islands and activity. Also, a multi space home with a variety of unique rooms. Only 15 minutes from charming downtown Traverse City.

Perfect vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

The property well exceeded our already high expectations based on the posted pictures. The cottage was clean and extremely comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessary items to prepare meals if needed. Beautiful outdoor setting on a very quiet dead end street. We enjoyed fishing and canoeing on the lake. Great location as a base for daily excursion or just to relax and unwind. The owners were very polite and extremely helpful with pointing out area attractions / activities. We look forward to staying here again the next time our travels take us to Northern Michigan.

Our stay couldn't have been better. The views of the changing leaves were beautiful, the house was charming and Nadine and Thom were incredibly helpful. We felt instantly at home in their cozy and well maintained cottage. We additionally enjoyed all of the lakefront amenities that this property had to offer.

Gorgeous View of a Beautiful Lake

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our week at this charming property outside Traverse City, Michigan. The owners were accommodating and a pleasure to deal with, and the house itself is located directly on a beautiful little lake that is centrally-located to all the many areas of scenic interest of Northern Michigan. There is a dock with direct lake access, and the lake itself was clear and lovely. Everything was immaculately clean when we arrived, and the size of the house allowed for all the room that the two of us needed. There are multiple bedrooms, so a group would be comfortable as well.

We loved sitting on the deck area overlooking the lake in the morning for coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the little local wildlife and the beautiful cranes. It was quiet and peaceful, located in an uncrowded residential neighborhood that was also just a short drive away from all the retail opportunities we needed. The beds were comfortable, and we were able to truly relax from our busy lives back home.

The house lacks air conditioning, as noted in the property description, but there were several large fans in the house. Television reception was a problem, but we were able to catch up on our reading! All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful week and would certainly return in the future! Thank you for your hospitality!

Great house

  • 5 of 5

I'm recommending this house to everyone I talk to. The funky eclectic decorating and the beautiful relaxing lake view made the house an ideal vacation get away for us. We loved Bass Lake. Coming from a hot climate we especially enjoyed the cool weather, northern lake wildlife and delicious produce from local farms. Close by Traverse City, offers great restaurants and interesting shopping. Fresh food, wine and cheese shops made our grilled dinners at the house delicious and easy. Antique shopping in a different part of country was especially fun.
