About Nadeen & Thom
Traverse City and Bass Lake has been our home away from home for 20 years. We have been married 24 years and currently live & work in the city of Chicago We love the area and the natural setting of Bass Lake and wanted to make this, our newer cottage, available to others. We care about design, art, color and history and of course, nature!
Nadeen & Thom purchased this House in 2015
Why Nadeen & Thom chose Traverse City
The hilltop view of the lake offers a unique perspective of Bass Lake, its 4 islands and its wildlife activity. You might even think you are up in the Canadian wilderness! The lake offers peaceful views & fishing for those so inclined. Less than 15 minutes from charming downtown Traverse City makes this a great base camp for all the area attractions.

A relaxing treat !!!
Our stay here was simply too short. The house is clean and well appointed, just show up and enjoy your surroundings. We made great use of the amenities and guest information provided.
The row boat was a hit for my young boys and they enjoyed “fishing” from the dock. Despite the calendar dates saying it was October, they couldn’t help themselves from wading in the water, jumping from the dock, and playing in the sand.
We built a couple fires in the lakeside pit and enjoyed the quiet and endless stars. Having a grill to use was also nice because we cook a ton.
The beds were comfy and I loved all the natural light in the cabin. We did turn up the hot water tank, but that’s just preference.
A stay here would not disappoint and the porch swing can’t be beat!
Do trust in the recommendations for places to eat and entertain yourself in the area.
Thanks for your kind words Katherine & we are so glad you had a plaseant stay! -T&N
Beautiful home, lake and atmosphere. The owners are wonderful. You'll love your stay here!
Perfect for summer fun
We enjoyed every minute we were at the Bass Lake roadhouse. We were out in the country it was so tranquil with wildlife right in the yard. Every night just before dark a doe would come to the lake for a drink, and just down the road a yard full of turkeys. The loon came every night and sang its song. Even though your are out in the country you are only 15 minutes from Traverse City and 45 minutes from the Lake Michigan shoreline. The lake is perfect to kayak or canoe, and small boats. It was great to go out every morning and just get in the kayak and go for a paddle around the lake. Thanks Nadine and Thom for the travel center all of your suggestions were perfect. We would go stay again
Beautiful and peaceful location
House and lake were just as advertised. Our family of five had a lovely and relaxing stay and created wonderful memories. Our children all caught bluegill from the dock and we used the canoe and row boat everyday. The washer had started to leave stains on clothes just before our stay, so was available at our own risk for use. The oven was out of order as well, which impacted the meal planning I had done slightly. There was a toaster and baking oven that we could cook the muffins and rolls in and the pizza we made in the grill. The sunrises on the lake were gorgeous and we even saw the Milk Way one night. If the oven and washer had been working would have given it 5 stars. Nadeen and Thom were wonderful and hospitable. We visited Sleeping Bear Dunes park several days, took a float tube ride down the Platte River, drove to two lighthouses, and spent one afternoon in Traverse City. It was a relaxing and enjoyable stay and the Roadhouse was a comfortable home base.
Beautiful, peaceful and a fantastic way to spend a week!
Perfect rustic lake house. Beautiful views of the lake and a excellent yard and dock for enjoying the lake. We will definitely be bringing our family back!
Thanks again Tim! When you do return we can work directly if you prefer! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
