Leave it all behind and escape to the most wonderful place on earth; the charming historic "gated" community of Van Buren Point on Lake Erie. Here you will find many darling cottages, each cleverly named, well cared for and loved generation after generation. But you will find that there is only one cottage that will make your trip truly unforgettable and it is a little place called Valhalla.

Valhalla is a beautifully upgraded, exceptionally maintained, and well equipped year-round cottage with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms which can sleep 8. You will love the beautiful views of the bay which can be seen from the 3 season porch, living room, and the upstairs.

As you walk through the 3 season porch you will discover the stunning knotty pine interior and hard wood floors carried through out that really make this cottage stand out. The vaulted ceilings and open loft give the tastefully furnished living room a warm and inviting feeling. Accenting the room is a beautiful wood-burning fireplace for you to cozy up next to on those chilly nights.

On the first floor you will find 2 generously sized bedrooms, each with its own closet so you can make yourself right at home! There is a queen in the master and a full in the other bedroom. Conveniently located right next to the bedrooms you will find the full bathroom with a bathtub.

Off the living room you will find the large well equipped eat-in kitchen with many nice features including a double oven and dish washer.

Just off the kitchen you will discover an additional newly remodeled living/dining area. Here you can relax on the comfy new pull-out couch and watch a movie. Gather around the dining room table with seating for 6+ for a good old fashion family game night or enjoy a home-cooked meal in front of the bay window with a view of the lake.

As you leave the kitchen you will find the washer and dryer as well as a small half bath. Head up the stairs and you will see the loft and a large bedroom containing a double and two single beds.

Step outside you will discover an over-sized private fenced-in yard and a large 2 tired deck which features a private outdoor shower. Take advantage of the beautiful weather with a cook out on the large combo gas/charcoal grill and enjoy your meal on the picnic table. If you don't want to walk to the beach for a bonfire, make your own in the backyard fire pit.

After a night in one of the comfy beds, wake refreshed and ready to seize the day. Head to the porch to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the morning as you sip your coffee and watch in awe as the sun slowly begins to rise over the lake.

Head outside to enjoy all of the awesome amenities VBP has to offer. Walk or ride bikes to the beach to take a dip or do some boating. Bask in the sun and take in the gorgeous scenery as you walk the beach looking for sea glass or wood for a bonfire. When you have had enough of the beach jump on your bike and cruise to one of the many parks located in VBP. Play on the playground or play a game of tennis, sand volleyball, horseshoes, or bocce ball. After dinner take a stroll over to the beach in time to catch a spectacular sunset over the lake.

If you are in the mood for a little excursion there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area.

We can't say enough good things about our experience. The cottage is cozy, clean, well-appointed, quiet, and a perfect place for bringing pups. Our experience was delightful. Rachel was extremely responsive and resolved a minor issue almost immediately-on Thanksgiving Day, no less! The location is amazing; less than a minute to the shoreline. We have no complaints. What a wonderful stay!

Great property. Steps from the lake, bald eagle sightings daily, walk to the beach, beautiful sunsets and sunrises from the same vantage point, comfortable and clean. We were just looking for a place to sleep while we took care of family - but it turned out we enjoyed the place a lot. Highly recommended.

This property was just amazing for our family. There were 6 adults a 2yr old and 2 under a year. We loved the set up. The property owner has thought of everything to make your stay here incredible comfortable. The back room was perfect for gathering, eating, and playing games. The cottage has everything needed for a family to enjoy the lake during the summer! It was nice not to have to bring our own bikes this year. The cottage has ample AC units that kept the cottage comfortable while it was unseasonably hot. Highly recommend!

Family loved it here!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful cozy cottage. We loved every minute we were there. Especially having our breakfast buffets in the enclosed sunroom. We also gathered in the sunroom in the evenings to play board games. The cottage is fully furnished; from utensils and mixing bowls to extra pillows and blankets to lots of games and bikes. The community was quiet and we felt safe. The town of Dunkirk is close by and provides many shopping needs. Your cottage is back on our list for another visit.

This is our 3rd time at this property in 4 years...and already booked for next year My previous review can be seen and nothing has changed. Excellent and receptive hosts, perfect property and location. I happily watered the new grass 1-2x/day to help keep it looking great! We just love this place and I hope my great reviews don't return to bite me by making it harder to book it !! We are talking about even an off season visit

Wonderful Cottage

This place was wonderful! There was more than enough room for my family. We hosted Thanksgiving in the large porch area which worked very well. The kitchen is well stocked. There were games for the kids to play in the side room. Overall a great experience!

PERFECT !!!!!

The property has owners who really thought of everything....and some benefits that aren't noted in the listing! There is actually another bedroom upstairs with a twin bed...that room has no AC but the window opens and the nights were cool...there are fans as well. The loft room has it's own wall AC, and off the loft room is a little sitting room with a pull out loveseat. Each bedroom downstairs has it's own AC, and there are actually 2 standing AC units....one in kitchen and one in the rec room. My wife slept in the non-AC bedroom upstairs, my 10 year old and I shared the loft, my sister took the MBR and 18 year old the other room....the 15 year old loved having the rec room to himself....pull out sofa, a TV, his own AC and a mini-fridge....and a bookcase full of games, cards, books and more. The yard is fenced in and flat. The back porch is perfect and we spent a lot of time there.....I took pics as it's exactly how I want to cover my patio. The shed is LOADED....9 bikes (!!) including a tandem, beach chairs, beach toys, a wagon to lug things to the beach, umbrella, lots of yard games, boogie and skim boards.....even marshmallow sticks and log grabber for the firepit. The bay is one house away. VBP is where we went as children, and I was planning on relaxing and expecting the kids to be bored. Nope...the vote was unanimous....we ALL want to return next year and this house is where we plan to stay. Honestly, the owners could not have done any more besides come and tuck us all in at night. Now I just have to find a way to convince them to sell it to me....... Thanks guys for one of the best vacations my family has had.

Home away from home

This is a lovely property with all the comforts of home and more. It is perfect for families with young children. Very kid friendly. Lake Erie is a stones throw away and the neighborhood perfect for walking and biking. Our host was very responsive and the property very well cared for. We plan to return next year.

perfect getaway

This is a wonderful, cozy home to use for a getaway or vacation. Way bigger than it looks online or from the street view, and cozy at the same time. Our children loved the upstairs bedroom, and the reading nook gave my oldest a place to do remote schooling (with fine wifi). Van Buren is so peaceful in the winter, and the take out from Fireside was fantastic. Rental fit our needs perfectly. Thanks!

Great place for Thanksgiving get-together

This house was amazing for our socially-distanced Thanksgiving. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, a great kitchen for cooking, and an amazing three seasons room. We enjoyed the home a lot and also went on walks around the neighborhood to look over the lake and visit the bocce ball court. We would come back to stay here again!
