About Jim Alexander
We bought this cottage and totally remodeled it for ourselves. 2015 was the first time we used it. 2016 we decided to rent it out. We had a lot of fun doing the cottage and are very proud how it turned out. We added all kinds of extras to make it really nice. Retro portable radios in bedrooms, games, books, Formica table from 1959 we had shipped to us from Pennsylvania, Turntable so you can bring your old vinyls. The pontoon is great.
Jim Alexander purchased this Cottage in 2014

Best Vacation in a long time!!
Our little family of 4 took a vacation from Florida to Edwardsburg, Michigan in July 2018. It had been 11 years since we had seen our Indiana family and instead of staying with family or a hotel, we thought we would give a cottage on a lake a try for the first time. We were not disappointed!! The cottage was a wonderful getaway!! When we arrived the air was on, there was music playing for us, there was a wine bottle with glasses, and also M&M's which were gone by the end of the week, lol. We also had great internet, and Dish TV. The cottage was very clean upon arrival and we were able to do laundry while we were there which was wonderful!! We loved the fact that when you wake up in the morning if you feel like fishing you could just walk outside and fish!! Which my husband and 11 year old did quite a few mornings.(We brought our own fishing poles.) They would also end the evening that way too!! Since it is so light out so late on the lake we were sometimes fishing until nearly 10 p.m. right off the dock. We caught bass, sunfish, bluefish, dogfish and some other species we weren't sure of. Also, there were tons of geese, 3 swans and a few ducks that visited us nearly everyday!! The sunsets were spectacular, straight across from the cottage the sun sets every night. Just beautiful!! The pontoon boat was a plus, we took it out about 4 - 5 times doing a circle around the lake in the evenings. The cottage is only about 15 minutes away from Mishawaka, IN where there is every restaurant and shopping you could ask for!! We had a bbq on the grill on the porch with all of our Indiana/Michigan family, about 12 of us enjoying the view of the lake, partaking in kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. We took family pictures inside by the couch which made a great back drop for pictures. We went to the Shipshawana Amish Flea market, which was pretty neat. Tons of vendors and food and plenty of parking. We also did a Notre Dame Stadium Tour with the whole family and that was awesome. Only about a 25 minute drive, maybe less. All in all, the cottage is a wonderful place to stay, comfy beds, air conditioning, boat, fishing, laundry and a great view. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again. The owner, Jim, is very responsive and will help with any questions. Very nice and pleasant to talk to. Thank you, Jim, for sharing your cottage with the rest of us. It truly is a peaceful, beautiful spot which gave us a relaxing and amazing vacation, the best!!
Charming! Everything you need for a relaxing get away!
We had a wonderful stay! A great relaxing space on the lake. My 6 year old daughter cried when it was time to leave saying "she wanted to stay there forever"! Jim (owner) was very accommodating and helpful when we had questions. We would definitely stay here again. Favorite part was the sunset cruises around the lake and watching my kids have a blast fishing and swimming off the pontoon boat! Thank you for sharing your home!

"Memories Made at the Beach Stay in Our Hearts Forever"
We stayed at "Sunset Beach" Cottage on Pleasant Lake the last week of June with our two sons ages 14 and 11 and our 7 year-old chocolate Lab. We arrived to a well-lit, very cool, and clean cottage with a bottle of wine and m&m's waiting for us(Thanks, Jim!). I know other reviewers have said that the third bedroom, the bunk bed room, was too small for older kids. However, our two boys stayed in there and were fine. They enjoyed having their own space and fit perfectly in the beds (and my 14 year-old is 5'8"!). It was pretty cool in the beginning of the week (high 60's/low 70's so it was not hot in there). All the bedrooms have fans and the two queen bedrooms(with very comfortable beds) have air conditioning units. We only needed to use the air conditioners towards the end of the week. There is also a washer and dryer which was very nice to have (my family goes through a lot of towels!!) We never left, other than going to the Martin's grocery store in Granger, IN(which was very close) or out to eat dinner. One night we went to Four Lake Golf Course/Club House in Edwardsburg on 12 to eat.My husband and son played the course once and enjoyed it. It was very close and the burgers were very good. We also went to Beef O'Bradys in Granger, IN which was good, and we went to Simonton Lake Drive-in restaurant in Elkhart, IN which was fun. FIrst time my boys have experienced a drive-in restaurant. The lake was quiet and the water was remarkably clear. Near the dock there is a sandy bottom with no drop offs. My kids LOVED running and jumping off the dock. I think it was their favorite thing to do. My husband really enjoyed fishing off the dock every morning and evening. He caught some nice-sized Bass and "Dog" fish (they have teeth like a catfish). My favorite thing was escaping on the paddleboards. The best time is around sunset when the water is calm. It is a great workout too. Both of my boys did the paddleboards too and got the hang of it quickly. The sun sets directly across the lake, so needless to say it was spectacular every evening...and reminds you to stop, relax and enjoy the moment. There was a family of swans who visited us and a blue heron. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jim. He was so very nice and always available in case we had a question/concern. Finally, if you are looking for a peaceful escape with your family on a beautiful lake ...this is it. We will be going back! Thank you for everything, Jim!!
