Overview

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bath Waterfront Cabin

Step back in time to this charming 1935 waterfront cabin. Hike down a steep trail of old growth trees and native sword ferns to our cozy waterfront beach cabin. There are stairs and switchbacks on the walk down and back up again to the road, but the beautiful private location is worth the effort. Enjoy 120' of low bank waterfront facing west. Beautiful sunsets, beach walks, and abundant wildlife await you. This quiet spot will steal your heart. Just 5 minutes from the Vashon ferry dock, and yet feels a world away from busy Seattle.

Remodeled kitchen, "great" room with massive rock fireplace and 2 sets of French doors that open onto the deck overlooking the water. The deck has outdoor seating for lounging and dining. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare your home cooked meals. The cabin sleeps 4, with a queen-size bed in the main floor bedroom, plus 2 full-size futon beds in the attic sleeping room. The bathroom is vintage "beach cabin" with a claw foot tub/shower, plenty of linens, bath towels, and beach towels are available for your stay.

The outdoor space includes a picnic lawn area with a charcoal BBQ grill. One of our favorite spots to enjoy sunsets and evenings is the teak bench down on the edge of the water below the deck.

Fun things to do while at the cabin:

Watch the eagles and cormorants circle the cove from your lounge chair.

Keep an eye out for "Lucy" the local seal to pop her head up, and the blue heron who likes to pose on one leg at the beach.

Walk the rocky beach, exploring the tidelands.

Hike the 3-mile roundtrip to the Vashon Winery through the beautiful Shinglemill Creek Preserve.

Enjoy a camp fire at sunset.

Due to the steep trail with stairs and switchbacks, this beautiful little place will appeal to hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. There are 39 wooden stairs and 8 switchbacks on the trail. This is what islanders call a "walk-in." A backpack will be easier to carry than a suitcase.

Why Linda Baker chose Vashon Island

We bought this cabin in 2016, and love it. It's a quiet retreat and cozy home-away-from home. We live in the Seattle area, and it takes us only about 75 minutes to get here, door-to-door, including the ferry ride. We hope you love it as much as we do.

What a wonderful cabin. My best girlfriend and I wanted a relaxing weekend away and this was the perfect spot. Secluded, serine, and sweet. It had all the amenities we needed and the view was incredible.

Thank you very much. We would love to return!

I would definitely recommend this property. It sleeps 4 people comfortably and had plenty of space for people to eat and sit and watch tv or play games. Thank you for the relaxing getaway!

Exquisite

  • 5 of 5

Everything as advertised, and more. Wife and I intended to explore Seattle, which we did; however couldn't wait to get back to this cabin to enjoy the warmth and solitude therein. Kayaking, hiking, and eating around Vashon was all the fun we needed for the weekend. I suggest a hike in Burton Acres and the nearby Fern Cove. We ate local seafood, cheeses, produce, and even listened to the local radio station Voice of Vashon. The ambiance of local eateries was fine (which is a huge consideration for us), however we much preferred to take our meals to go and enjoy them in the superior setting at this cabin. The master bedroom had an exquisite view of the passage through a generous bay window, we wanted to linger there each morning, sipping our coffees and deciding what adventures to pursue. The two-level deck was where we spent the bulk of our time, also the hike down from the car was so alluring that I made a video. We definitely want to come back.
