Cummins Falls State Park is an idyllic, but rugged, 211-acre day-use park located nine miles north of Cookeville on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River on the Eastern Highland Rim. Located in the Cordell Hull Watershed, the area has been a scenic spot and swimming hole for local residents of Jackson and Putnam counties for more than 100 years. Cummins Falls is Tennessee’s eighth largest waterfall in volume of water and is 75 feet high.

The Gorge

The gorge area of the park is a natural feature unaltered by man, as is most of the park. While very beautiful, this is a rugged area and there are inherent hazards.

The gorge and waterfall are not easily accessed and can only be reached by foot.

There are two routes that descend into the gorge.

One is approximately one mile and the other is approximately 1.5 miles.

Both routes are steep with uneven terrain and have significant elevation drops.

Natural trail surfaces are varied and include water crossings, boulders and other obstacles.

Nice home. Great location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for 2 weeks while house hunting. The house is an older home but was comfortable. As there was only 2 of us, we did not use the downstairs except for laundry. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The house is close to town, shopping, and parks. Every morning we walked in the beautiful Cane Creek Park which was nearby. The creek behind the house was quite peaceful and we sat out there in the afternoon. Overall, the house was clean, but we did notice several small dead bugs on the windowsill. The furniture is also a bit dated and worn.

Fantastic Cottage so close to Beautiful Cummings Falls State Park.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at this two story cottage. It so close to everything including Cookeville. The cottage is decorated with old tools, antiques and wildlife art. It was clean and cozy , our family really enjoyed our stay here. The Falls are breathtaking and their is so much to see and do in Cookeville. We hope to return again next year and highly recommend this cottage and this area of Tennessee.

WHAT A VINTAGE FIND ! WE CAN'T WAIT TO BRING THE GRANDKIDS NEXT TIME!

  • 5 of 5

While running the back roads of Tennessee , we stumbled across the charming city of Cookeville,Tn . We always look for local cottages or B&B's rather than hotels and was able to stay at the Creek Side Cottage. We loved it, the cottage was just as the photos on VRBO and we opened the window to hear the creek. The cottage is decorated with antiques and vintage tools and wildlife photos. The cottage is close to Cummings Falls and we can't wait to bring our grandkids back to enjoy the cottage and beautiful Falls. The owner was very helpful and owns the adjoining property for large groups and weddings. We were blessed as the cottage was only available due to a last minute cancellation. Be sure and see this beautiful state and stay at the cottage. Marvin and Nancy Thompson- owners of The Funky Antique Shack

Quaint older home.

  • 4 of 5

This quaint older home was very clean. The master bedroom upstairs had a very comfortable King bed. The antiques the home was furnished with provided a very nice reflection on the home. We really liked all the custom built cupboards and shelves. The downstairs was clean, but a few finishing touches down there to make it complement the upstairs would help with rental possibilities. The beds downstairs were comfortable but their placement could be improved, also an additional TV downstairs would be great. The enclosed front porch was really nice. The shower had great water pressure and lots of Hot water. The kitchen was well furnished and the layout was really functional. We did not fix any meals due to meetings all day, but used the fridge to keep our drinks cold. Very pretty dining room. Window air conditioners were kind of noisy, but easily kept the home at a comfortable temperature. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider another stay if in the area.

Run away!!!! Awful odor!!!

  • 1 of 5

The bedroom from the picture was locked and we did not have access to it. The only badroom available was in the basement. However there was very strong odor of mold and rotten wood. Whole hause is in very bad shape, full of ded bugs and live spiders. I would not recommend it to anyone. I've spend there one sleepless night because it was late and I did not really had place to go. I was out next day morning, now I fight for refund. What a scam!!!

I have some pictures if you are interested.

Owner's Response: this is a scammer, he did not pay a dime and vrbo should not post his review.
