Open to the dining room and kitchen, the living room allows guests to chat and visit while dining, cooking, and relaxing. It's separated from the game areas, so it's the perfect spot for adults to enjoy some quiet conversation while taking in the fantastic mountain views through the windows. On those cool mountain nights, you'll love being curled up here in front of the fire while watching TV or getting lost in a good book.

A luxurious space that any chef will appreciate, the fully equipped kitchen in VIP offers the space and tools needed to make meals for groups in the cabin. Great Location--Below Average Experience

  • 3 of 5

My family and I stayed at this property with another family for a long fall weekend. We annually rent a cabin in the area each fall. This year, we selected this property to be a bit closer to everything. The location of this property is fantastic. The cabin itself is well designed and can comfortably accommodate eight people. The furniture in the property, however, is worn and in need of updating. The couch has seen better days and the recliners in the theater room are worn out.

The service at the property also leaves something to be desired. After eating out at a local restaurant on our 2nd night at the cabin, we returned to a very piercing set of smoke alarms going off. We called the property owner and a maintenance man was sent to the property about an hour later. He proceeded to disconnect all of the smoke alarms because he said one of the alarms was faulty. He then said that would fix the issue for the night. Having multiple children with us, we advised him that was an unacceptable solution. He grumbled a bit and said that he would need to reset the alarms one at a time to resolve the issue. After about 45 minutes, he said everything would be fine. We then asked him to look at a toilet that was constantly running on the 2nd floor. He said that he needed to get to another cabin for a service issue and he would come back the next day. We never heard back from him. We also did not receive a follow-up from the cabin owner asking if everything had been resolved. Being the last full day of our trip, we decided it was best to avoid that bathroom and not to push the service issue.

Most cabins that we rent have centralized alarm systems and outdoor cameras that can be managed remotely or online. Apparently, this cabin does not, which unfortunately led to an smoke alarm saga that ruined what was supposed to be a fun evening watching movies.

Advice--The cabin owner is very serious about checkout at 11am sharp. On our last day of the trip, we packed our cars and were taking a few pictures of the two families on the side porch to memorialize our trip. The cabin owner sent me a text at 11:06am reminding me that checkout was 11am sharp and we were keeping the cleaning crew from doing their job. Being on the side porch, we had a good view of the entrance and did not see or hear a cleaning crew.

After the experience with the smoke alarms and the running toilet, the tersely worded checkout text reminder at 11:06am seemed a bit much.

Owner's Response: You may be confusing Smoke Alarms with Security Alarms. There are no smoke alarms that are controlled remotely. When you drove up from dinner and noticed the smoke alarm sounding off and called us, we then discussed that all rooms were checked and free of smoke, we determined the smoke detectors are hardwired in and once one was activated, they all went off, and we immediately called maintenance. It was 8 PM at night. We were fortunate that he was on another call in the same resort where he stopped what he was doing to come and shut off the irritating alarms for you. He came within 15 minutes because we were watching him arrive from our cameras on the driveway (not an hour) The cabin he left had been waiting for their repair so he satisfied your urgency and then returned to the other needs. It was determined that dust set our Alarms off, so they were vacuumed and reset. We believe your irritation is really because we had to point out checkout time to you is 11 o’clock and you had surpassed that time. It was 12:06 not 11:06. Our housekeepers had arrived to clean for our next guest and you were still there. That is embarrassing for you but your reservation was over. Our cleaners have busy schedules with multiple cabins to clean. Your delay not only affects them but our upcoming guests as well. They reported that they drove by twice and then notified us of your occupancy.

The view was so breathtaking. We even had a rainstorm! The only bad thing was the stairs. The kids watched movies but the stairs were not suitable for old knees. Did I say, the views were breathtaking! Thanks

Exactly what we wanted!!

  • 5 of 5

I am not sure the pictures do it justice but the view is absolutely gorgeous!! It was ever changing as the clouds, rain and rainbows came and went. This house has everything and we enjoyed it all. Well stocked kitchen, theater room, pool table, hot tub and a large dining table for puzzles and games. There are multiple living areas so people can be involved in different activities at the same time or if someone just needs some space the loft is amazing! We went hiking to Laurel Falls, Rock jumping at Clingmans Dome, Caving at Tuclaleechee Caverns,Putt Putt golf at Trreasure Island, Rode the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster, and white water rafting with Nantahala Outdoor Center. Those are all places we would visit again. Great Fun and never more than a 45 minute drive from VIP. Do not hesitate book your trip today to stay at VIP!!
