About this property

Bright and cozy menemsha cottage

The Little House was built in 1960 as a one room studio/cabin. Since then a gourmet kitchen wing has been added, as well as a detached bunkhouse. The main structure has an open floor plan with bright living and dining room area with skylight and a woodstove, and a full kitchen with center island. Through a covered causeway is a large master bedroom with a queen bed, and just off the back, past the outside shower, a detached bunkhouse with a twin bunk bed, and double bed. The property is perfect for two couples or a family with kids.

While having an authentically vineyard feel, the Little House has been updated to meet the needs of our time, with a heat pump system (including in the bunk house) for cool or sultry nights, dishwasher, wifi and television.

The large deck is great for lounging but there is also a deeded right of way to Menemsha Beach (ten minute walk) . Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket beaches are ten minute drive away. (Beach stickers are available at the Chilmark Town Hall.)

Great location

Peaceful location near conservation trail and a short drive to Lucy Vincent and the Chilmark Store. Clean, spacious and comfortable for our family of six adults. The owner mailed the key and information about the house ahead of our stay, which was helpful. Highly recommended!

A pleasure to stay in a cottage so obviously dear to the heart of the owner.

We received a personal welcome, and enjoyed every aspect of our stay.

Lovely Vineyard home with all the conveniences

We loved this cottage. Simple but totally authentic Vineyard. The kitchen has everything we needed, and more. Everything was comfortable and homey. A delightful place.

A charming cottage with a wonderful kitchen

We had a wonderful time in this lovely, simple cottage. The kitchen is a true cook's space with an extraordinary collection top-quality pots and pans, a six burner gas stove and even a burr coffee grinder. We found staples like olive oil, salt, etc. in the cabinets. Beyond the kitchen, the house is rustic but comfortable. Unlike some short-term rentals, the cottage is not stripped bare -- there are books and games on the shelves, wildlife guides for hikes in the woods and the beaches, and plenty of beach towels.
