The owner Joy went out of her way to solve an unfortunate double booking and made things right. The property location was marvelous. So peaceful. Close to markets, beaches and a marvelous off leash Greenbank Farm. We had a great stay!
Well appointed!! Anything we could have needed was there. View & patio were super. Nice & quiet. Really appreciated the yummy muffins & gallon of water.(Toilet paper wasnt great. Had to use a lot. And handsoap was too watery.)
Quite a small space, there are small appliances for use, no full size appliances. Quiet area, nice view, from top of hill overlooking bay.

Idyllic Location
The Library was a great location on Whidbey Island, easy to get around the island and near Langley & other sites. Room was cozy. Check in was a bit difficult but otherwise I would stay again.
We attended the 2024 Whidbey Island Garden Tour and booked the "library" for our stay; there were three of us gals.
The studio is whimsical and charming, great for our short stay of two nights. We were greeted with a personal note from Joy along with complimentary muffins, jam, butter and a snack of nuts.
Everything was superclean, beds very comfy and amenities plentiful.
Our views from the deck were incredible - a great place for a glass of wine and some chill time after our arrival and activities of the garden tour.
The facility is easy to find and convenient to every place on the Island. A great getaway!
Very clean and very accommodating for the two of us traveling with our two small dogs. We set up the dogs’ playpen to sleep in the room with the bunk beds. There is a nice view of the water from the patio which is right outside the French doors. Quiet and well stocked kitchenette. The kitchen is small, but it was enough for the few nights we stayed here. We were welcomed with some muffins and jam which was so sweet! Owner was very kind in her communication and the nice treats she left for us were so yummy. This rental, within this house’s several rentals, felt very private.

Surprise dog fees
The stay was nice enough, but there was an issue with the water (had to be boiled before drinking), which we were alerted of and we ended up using bottled water. The bigger beef was that there is no mention in the listing of pet fees or rent, but the owner tagged on a $50 fee for "pet covers" the day before our stay and we couldn't get the check-in information until we paid. Then we get there and the covers were just 2 plain sheets without instructions on how or where they want us to use them. I contacted her about it, but got no answer. I asked for a refund of the fee and got no rreply. Our
This property is in a great location with a wonderful view. The check in process quick and easy and the units all allow for privacy. The library is very nice and had everything we needed. Joy has worked hard to make sure everything is clean and inviting. We would
highly recommend staying here!
This was a lovely little rental, on the site of several other rental units of various sizes. Deck area and view were lovely as was the private beach, which was a 10 minute walk down gravel paths. The tidal flats were great fun to explore at low tide.
Overall, for two people this was a great rental. You could make this work with a couple and one child, but it is small, and more than that would be uncomfortable.
Joy's place was really lovely, and quite different from many other VRBOs. Each set of guests has their own entry, seating area, yet area also has a great view.
We enjoyed the personal touches and care that she has put into her home.
The library is the perfect getaway for a relaxing stay! All the amenities you need and the little touches like muffins for breakfast are just wonderful! Thanks Joy!

About the host

I am a retired high school level French teacher, loving travel and the beauty of the gardens and architecture of Europe.
The creation of Sunlight Seascape has been my passion and joy! As a child, I spent free, endless summer days on this beach, bay, and pasture learning how to swim, dig clams, build forts, and ride horses.
Capturing the natural beauty of the sea, land, and spacious sky was my inspiration in Sunlight SeaScape’s design and construction.
Building began on the property while I was teaching advanced French classes. The passions of nature, freedom, and culture blended together in the creation of this beautiful place.
Why they chose this property
I love this Useless Bay, Sunlight Beach and surrounding pastures and mountain views. I love sharing this property and safe, friendly and stunningly beautiful Whidbey Island with my guests who also appreciate its beauty and precious resources for access to Nature.
I began designing beautiful gardens and simple, exquisite interior spaces to connect with their natural settings. This property inspires me each morning as I breathe the clean, fresh air and experience the abundant beauty of mountains, sky, ocean and activity on the beach. Pastures and forests are our land constant while dragonflies and hummingbirds soar. Sometimes a baby otter will bob its head in Useless Bay as ships pass in the straits. Sunsets in the big sky complete amazing days in all seasons. As I grew up and become a nature lover, I will always love sharing Sunlight SeaScape on Whidbey, the beautiful Northwest getaway I get to call home.
What makes this property unique
Come spend Island Time at this beautiful, unique property, Sunlight SeaScape, where you have an opportunity to reconnect with Nature's Beauty – Northwest style. Take a step back to a quieter time.
Clean, safe, friendly, unique and beautiful property and accommodations. Clean air, clean water, birds, bunnies and walks on the beach, pastures, country roads where deer greet you with an ear flick.
We are a few miles from the charming seaside town of Langley and Bayview Corner where you can shop the Farmers' Markets and local wineries, artists' galleries and unique shops.
This special area of Whidbey Island captures a gentle, authentic, retro spirit where the Earth Sanctuary, Whidbey Institute stewards the land and sea. Hike or bike beaches and forests for active relaxation.
Experience the cultural aspects of island life, including theatre, farms, music and more art, in all forms, all year.
