About Ladonna Sproule
Jim and I have owned a home in Cape Coral since 2011. We fell in love with the area and have been spending a lot of time here ever since. After two years of personal enjoyment of the weather and all that the Cape has to offer, we decided to open the opportunity for others to spend time in a home that we would offer. We are hard workers and pour our best into all we do and we felt that was a characteristic that would serve our guest well, so we decided to purchase a home for folks who wanted a place in Cape to call "Home:. Our first vacation rental home, Cape Comfort (VRBO # 483271) has been well received over the past couple of years - guest comments have been very favorable, and when we found that there were more guests than we could accommodate, we started a search for another home that would be "just right" for our guests.
Ladonna Sproule purchased this House in 2016
Why Ladonna Sproule chose Pelican
We wanted to offer our potential guests a waterfront home with great features. And this one has them all! There is currently a series running on cable television which follows prospective homeowners as they search through a variety of homes to find "The One" that is just perfect for them. The list of "must haves" always seems to include a big kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, open concept so the person in the kitchen can see all that is going on, hardwood floors, a spacious master with en-suite bath, and plenty of closet space. And, oh yes, views of the water! If they came to Cape Pelican, they would have to look no further! This house has all of that and more. The home was caringly and thoughtfully renovated recently and it is now ready for the discerning guest. It took us a while to find this home- but it was worth the effort.
What makes this House unique
Open concept living inside with great outdoor comforts and a wide open view of the water. The interior features and furnishings are first rate. Guests will appreciate the comforts and conveniences provided as well the attention that is paid to upkeep and cleanliness.

Property was great, as advertised. Owner was extremely difficult to work with.
Overall, the property was beautiful, very much as advertised. Pool was great, view of the lake was spectacular, and if it wasn't so hot, we would have used the bikes a lot (go figure - 92 and humid in late October).
Location was fine, street was quiet, neighborhood was good.
The owners, however, were extremely difficult to work with. They had instituted a new policy, not spelled out in the terms and conditions of the rental agreement, that they would control the thermostat for the A/C, and planned to keep it at 78 to 80 degrees. Unacceptable to us Northerners, and in direct violation of the rental agreement. They would not release control of the thermostat, citing concern for the A/C unit (not our problem). Even though there was a record setting heat wave, as reported daily in the news, they would not budge.
Trying to work it out, we wasted three days calling and pleading with the owner, and the house was still too hot. We even offered to pay an extra fee for utilities use, if that was their concern, but they refused.
Finally we called Homeaway, and asked for help. Homeaway confirmed that the rental agreement stated that the renter should have control of the A/C, but the owner refused. They managed to negotiate with the owner, and get the thermostat down to 72 degrees, but the owners never released control of the unit.
Since we are professionals, and own our own home, the thought of someone refusing to let us access the climate controls was infuriating. We paid money and had an agreement, which they completely disregarded.
Half of our vacation was spent sweating at night, and it pretty much ruined what should have been a great trip.
Probably due to the lack of cooling, my wife developed a heat rash, even though we did not go out too much because of the heat.
So, a word to the wise - if you don't mind sleeping in 78 to 80 degree temperature (and humid to boot), this is a great place.
But under no circumstances should you expect to control your own environment.
Nice property. The house has a very open floor plan, clean and comfortable. It suited our needs quite well. Would recommend.
This place is awesome. We actually went to Florida to look at homes to purchase. We went to about 10 open houses and didn’t see anything as nice as this house. Beautiful house and a perfect location.
Wonderful property, beautiful place to stay.
Cape Pelican is located in Cape Coral, a city in Southwest Florida, boasting 400 miles of canals and known as "America's Venice". The region enjoys 266 days of sunshine on average per year. Winter months are characterized by warm temperatures and limited rainfall, while the summer months reflect a more tropical weather pattern of sunshine, periods of rain followed by clearing skies and beautiful sunsets.
In addition to miles of canals, Cape Coral is in close proximity to many barrier islands such as Cabbage Key, Captiva, Cayo Costa, and Sanibel. Many of the area beaches provide great opportunities for collecting shells and creating sand sculptures. There are several natural areas nearby to observe birds, and native wildlife. Dolphins and manatees are common in the gulf waters and tours are available to allow visitors to see these remarkable mammals in their natural habitat.
Life on the southern coast of Florida is a bit more relaxed in some other portions of the state, but if one is seeking more activity, Tampa is approximately 125 miles North; Fort Lauderdale 115 miles East and Miami about 125 miles East.
Cultural opportunities abound with attractions as the Barbara B. Mann Theater in Fort Myers, the Bajer Museum and the Naples Philharmonic in Naples. Dinner theater at the Palm in Fort Myers has regular offerings including Broadway and off-Broadway shows. There are a dozen institutions of higher learning in the county. The Ford-Edison Estate, in Fort Myers offers special insight into the lives and lifestyles of two men who were instrumental in shaping the growth of industry and life in the early 20th century.
Cape Pelican guests will enjoy the quiet surroundings of the house. Shopping for household needs is located close by, while shopping for household and personal wants (and special treats) are in abundance at area centers such as Gulf Coast Town Center, Miromar Outlet Mall, Coconut Point, Tanger Outlet, and the Mercato in Naples.
Cape Pelican is located in a residential area characterized by shade trees, tall palms, wide streets and homes showing pride of ownership. The home is situated on the North side of Lake Mojave, with views of the lake clearly visible from dining, living and master bedroom. The lake is square in shape and deep enough to support boating and fishing.
We welcome your visit to Cape Pelican or to our other home, Cape Comfort (VRBO #483271).
