About the property

Set in the village. Terrace with a view. Bus to Florence centre at 650 metres.

Il Visciolo was a typical Tuscan barn. We converted it to a modern home in 2006 respecting the rural tradition of the Florentine province, recycling the original materials whenever possible.

The real rental cost is lower than the one reported on the booking form. The "service costs" appearing since May 2017 will not be applied, as you will directly rent with us. Please do not consider that voice when looking at the total cost. If you really want, you can still pay using their service and pay the related costs, but please do not give your credit card data to the web site before contacting us. Send an availability request using "Ask owner a question" without booking. Thanks.

Our converted barn is located few steps away from the centre of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, a village set in the Chianti area of Tuscany. The village of San Casciano in Val di Pesa has got many shops, bars, some good restaurants and pizzerias. Most of them can be reached walking, as our holiday home is at just 350 metres from the village centre. A big COOP supermarket is 7 minutes walk from the house.

Florence centre can be reached in 30 minutes by public coach service, departures are at 650 from the property. Our holiday house is much appreciated by those who want to visit Florence without a car or to explore Tuscany. A dual carriageway leading to Florence and Siena is 3.5Km away. For those with car, we have a private parking inside the property.

Two bedrooms with air conditioning, one double bed and two twin beds (can be joined on request), two bathrooms, an equipped kitchen, a living room. Bedding and linen are included.

There is an automated heating system on both floors. A fast Internet connection (7 Mbps ADSL with WiFi b/g/n modem&router) at your exclusive use, all the house and part of the garden are covered by WiFi (you can turn it off any time).

The house is not suitable for children between one-and-half and seven years old.

The terrace in front of the house has got a great view over the countryside, it's at your exclusive use. You can have meals outside as it's equipped with table and chairs under a gazebo (uncovered during Winter). A stone barbecue is available (wood is not provided). A garden with olive trees and fruit trees surrounds the house. On the back there is our farmhouse and other buildings of the village. The property is part of the village of San Casciano, it is not isolated in the countryside.

We (wife and husband) live in a farmhouse few metres away and we can help you in case of need (although we don't give any professional service as ours is a simple self catering accommodation). I am a retired teacher of English and French.

For more information about Il Visciolo please contact us and we will send you the address of our web site. We won't send unsolicited e-mails and we always reply promptly.

A Million Dollar View

  • 5 of 5

Words can't describe how beautiful the view is from this villa in Tuscany. It was everything we wanted it to be. The villa is a lovely stone building that has been recently converted into a charming 2 bedroom villa. Flora, Allessandro and Carlo were all so helpful, going beyond expectations to ensure we had a pleasant stay. Their assessment that you don't need a car was correct, we were within a short walking distance to the town center, around three corners to the grocery store and a short walk to the bus station. A half hour bus ride and you were in Florence Center. Day trips to Sienna, and San Gimignano are very doable in a day trip. My son and his wife took a 2 two hour train ride to Venice.

A very nice place to spend a vacation.

The BEST Tuscan Experience

  • 5 of 5

Many thanks to Flora for her amazing hospitality and kindness. The four of us were greeted with a warm smile and some delicious snacks and chianti! The property is very well maintained and felt like home. Comfy beds and modern bathrooms made the stay relaxing. Wasn't sure about the location but it turned out it was perfect. The bus to Florence was right down the street and took about 45 min. We also had a car and with some guidance from our hosts were able to find some incredible places to see. San Casciano is small but offers a lot in terms of dining and shopping; nice change from the hustle and bustle of Florence. And when our luggage didn't arrive for several days, Flora was a tireless advocate in helping us get it!

I can't recommend Il Visciolo enough. It is everything you would expect and then some. We will be back to make more memories!!!

Beautiful home; stunning view; perfect everything!

  • 5 of 5

What a great location to explore Tuscany -- Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano! We, a family of four, stayed in this Tuscan home mainly for the "secured, free" parking. We were given a parking garage for the car, which we left for our day in Florence. Other than that we took day trips to the place above and more. Our week was full of travel, but it was nice to come back to the house (and the VIEW) to relax. We had all our breakfasts and most of our dinners outside looking over the olive groves. The kitchen is fully functional, including a dishwasher. We did laundry twice with no problems. The kids had their own room (and bathroom -- great upstairs shower!) and we had ours. For someone who has had back surgery, the beds were firm, which I need. Internet is easy to use. Communication was beyond excellent with Carlo. So much so, that we were able to have our forgotten clothes sent to us overnight with Carlo delivering them to us. As for our espresso and cappuccinos, there are restaurants/cafes right up the street (as well as a grocery store). As I said, a perfect location to easily drive into town and out of town, yet close enough to walk into it as well. Thank you, Carlo! I would highly recommend this beautiful, restored Tuscan house!!!

Un coin de paradis

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

San Casciano in Val di Pesa is a quiet village in the Chianti countryside, just 15 km from the historic centre of Florence, with a large supermarket, several restaurants, bars and shops. There are regular bus routes that connect to Florence (15 Km), Siena (50 Km) and other villages of the area.

The centre of San Casciano in Val di Pesa is within walking distance (350 metres) and has got some restaurants, nice shops selling local products, services (banks, pharmacies, etc..). During the year there are many fairs and festivals in both San Casciano and two neighboring villages. Every Monday there is a street market with many stalls selling also local food products.
