4 bedroom, 2.5 bath bungalow, walk to shops, restaurants, marina & beach
About Lorene D'Orazio
Thank you for considering the Barton Street Bungalow for your vacation home. We are the Lenga family; Bill, Lorene, Marisa and our dog Sadie. We live in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in the City of Chicago and have been visiting the Harbor Country area since we were young kids. As a young couple we rented homes in nearly every beachside community stretching from Sheridan Beach, Indiana to Lakeside, Michigan. Finally, we purchased our cottage in Union Pier nearly 20 years ago, shortly after our daughter Marisa was born. Today, Marisa has graduated from the University of Notre Dame and as our retirement years approach, we find ourselves spending most weekends and nearly all summer in Harbor County. We truly love the simple joys that our home in Union Pier has brought to our lives. The time we spend here is focused on family, friends and neighbors all here in a common bond of enjoying the magnificent natural beauty of the area; the intimacy of the small town feel; the personal touch experienced at the local merchants; the bounty of the orchards, vineyards and veggies and the pleasures of the local dining, wineries, breweries and distilleries. We have a keen interest in architecture, design and horticulture. That said, we love old houses and particularly craftsman style bungalows. The Barton Street Bungalow is the second renovation of an Arts and Crafts style house we have undertaken in the area with the first being our cottage in Union Pier. Here we made improvements to the home, worked with a local craftsman to design and build most of the furniture and finally, we designed the landscape planting over 260 trees and shrubs and several hundred perennials in our gardens. Last, we designed and built all of the hardscape including the Summer House and decks that were built around one of three of our nearly 100 year old maple trees that are the center piece of the landscape. We hope you find our efforts are worthy of your stay.

Why Lorene D'Orazio chose New Buffalo
The home’s location and charm is what sold us on this old house. Although it is only a quick seventy-five mile car or train ride from the city, New Buffalo and all of Harbor Country acts as the perfect get-away from hectic city life and provides the ideal location for rest, relaxation, and, most importantly, quality family time. With all of the activities like bike riding through the farm country, kayaking down the Galien River, or relaxing by the gorgeous Lake Michigan waters, New Buffalo is the perfect place to create lasting memories for years to come.
What makes this House unique
Within the heart of New Buffalo, the Barton Street bungalow is the perfect “home away from home.” The lovely interior and exterior rooms and landscape, provides a resort like feel to this charmed arts and crafts style cottage. The bungalow is walking distance to all amenities and attractions, such as the grocery store, local shops, and restaurants. A short three-block walk brings guests to the harbor and public beach access. Additionally, the bungalow has a large yard space and outdoor area that is perfect for children to play and adults to entertain large groups. 70 BD GIRLS TRIP
Six, 70 year “young”friends shared the home for 3 nites. The entire process from booking to arrival to departure went great. The house is full of amenities, was clean, and had a real comfy feel. We could not believe how well it was stocked and so thankful we didn’t have to run to the store for any supplies. Lorene the owner was so nice to deal with from start to finish and was in contact with us throughout making sure we were enjoying ourselves and checking to see if we needed anything. I would recommend Barton Street Bungalow to anyone and want to thank Lorene for making our special trip so SPECIAL.
Thanks Linda, so glad that you and your friends had a good time celebrating your 70th birthdays and friendships at the Barton Street Bungalow. We try to make everyone’s stay easy, relaxed and comfortable, so the time spent with friends and family is special. We hope you and your friends will come back again soon.
Beautiful property, great location
The Barton Street Bungalow is a comfortable, well-appointed property with great spaces to get together with friends and a superb location within walking distance of restaurants and the beach. The owners' communication is excellent and they have little touches that made our stay even better-- little things like a rolling cart you can use to take your stuff to the beach, thereby avoiding the parking fee. Highly recommended.
Thanks Jennifer. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Barton Street Bungalow. We continue to add little touches to the property that will provide a pleasant stay for our guests. We'd love to have you and your friends back soon.
