GLACIER GLAMPING! STEPS FROM THE POLEBRIDGE MERCANTILE!
Cradled between the Continental Divide and the Whitefish Mountain Range just one mile from the northwest entrance to Glacier National Park is the electricity-free community of Polebridge. Made up of a handful of houses, cabins, a hostel and small ranches along the North Fork Road, the hub of this area is the historic Polebridge Mercantile and its neighboring Northern Lights Saloon—both powered by generators and solar panels (seasonal hours). "The Merc" is a one stop shop for locals and visitors alike and is famous throughout the state and region for its freshly baked goods, sandwiches and authentic personality. Just a stone's throw from the Wild & Scenic North Fork Flathead River you'll find our quaint "Cutthroat Cabin" is the ideal location for those looking to get away from it all or a launching point for your next Glacier National Park adventure. Here you'll find access to unlimited outdoor recreation from fly fishing to hiking to wildlife viewing and more, all the while enjoying the amazing views of the surrounding Northern and Canadian Rockies. The Cutthroat Cabin, named for NW Montana's native westslope cutthroat trout, is rustic, clean and comfortable with propane lights, oven and range, a hand-pump well in the kitchen and an antique wood burning stove. The bathroom is an outhouse. There is no electricity, the cabin is lit by propane wall sconces and portable propane and battery powered lanterns. There is no cell service or internet access. There is a public computer at the Mercantile and Wi-Fi available at nearby Home Ranch Bottoms. Quite possibly the cutest little outhouse in Polebridge too!

This property is not as pictured. I could barely get around a tree blocking the road. Grass was up to my knees. The property is in poor condition. Safety and cleanliness issues. The door is faulty and difficult to lock. The handle doesn’t work only the deadbolt works… kind of, if gentle as you turn to the right. There were dirty dishes and food in the cupboards and a note in the welcome binder about mice. There were also large cobwebs and missing screens in the windows. Crumbs and food on the rugs. Very rough cabin in the woods. I attempted to contact the owner as directed and he failed to return my call. Save your money and bring a tent. At least you will know what you’re sleeping with.

Response from VrboOwner on Jul 14, 2026
Unfortunately, this guest did not read the property description when booking. At the last minute, she realized there was no plumbing, electricity or wifi, which is clearly described in the listing.
The guest initially accepted responsibility for her actions, then demanded a full refund prior to contacting VRBO and lying about the condition/cleanliness of the property as echoed in her review.
As an owner, the lowest rating we can give any guest is one star. I wish there was a "zero stars, do not recommend" option as that's what we would do.
Instead, a person who did not even stay at our quaint, cozy cabin in the woods decided that rather than accept responsibility for her own actions, she'd take to the interwebs and attempt to smear a property that has been enjoyed by hundreds of other adventurous people.
We do not recommend renting to Ann, unless you enjoy argumentative dialog, ridiculous demands and a negative review of your property.
My kids and I loved the location of the cabin. It's very rustic, which was exactly what we were looking for. We had a great two days enjoying the quiet solitude of the area.
John and Stacy’s Cutthroat Cabin was an ideal home away from home for us and our group of friends. The North Fork is a vast and beautiful part of the country. Be aware that Pole Bridge is an off grid town, with no cell service, and the cabin didn’t have internet or any charging stations, so you’ll have to rely on a car or the saloon for those things.
We love our stay in Polebridge. The cabin was clean, warm, cozy and adorable!!

Best sleep of my life and amazing location. If you are wanting an off the grid experience, this is everything you could ever want. Loved reading on the porch watching the birds and the family of deer eating berries 20 feet away. Flat bottoms has the best smash burger I’ve ever had and getting a gate reservation to the west glacier gate was a piece of cake. Owners were communicative and it was just a great experience across the board.
Loved the seclusion of this sweet little cabin, with easy access to all the North Fork offers. Highly recommend. Would stay sgain given the opportunity. Don’t miss live music at Hkme Ranch Bottoms and a meal at Northern Lights Saloon. One day just got pizza at the merc to eat at the cabin. Had a wonderful time exploring with our Jeeps and kayaking the mountain lakes.
Wonderful stay with family! Hope our next stay is a bit longer. Beautiful area and hikes at Bowman and Kintla were superb. Very relaxing off the grid vacation.
We had a great week at this cabin! It's well stocked and comfortable beds while still experiencing a "camping" experience. The host is very responsive and it was a great experience overall!
Owner was very detailed about check-in and the supplies that were on hand. It was a little like living as the frontier people, except having propane. Enjoyed our stay!
We had a wonderful time at the Cutthroat Cabin! The owners were extremely responsive to questions leading up to our visit and accommodating with slight date changes! We hope to return!
