About Alan Burwell

We are Olympic Peninsula Natives. Our family has owned and enjoyed this property since 1981. It is a very special place to us. Our whole family loves to waterski, tube, wakeboard, swim and enjoy the beauty of the lake. Girls have been raised at the lake.

My favorite time to go to the Sol Duc Hot springs is when it is raining!!! Sitting in the hot tubs are the best!

Alan Burwell purchased this house in 1981

Why Alan Burwell chose Port Angeles

We love the lake and were originally attracted to it because of its beauty and watersport opportunities for our family. It is one of a small number of properties on the North shore of the lake(sunny side) where you have access the home and the lake without having to climb a large staircase. If you are considering another property ask how many hours of sun do they have.

What makes this house unique

We love the view of the lake which is totally unobstructed and enjoy the seasons which bring a different view of the foothills and the lake every single day. Every day is different from the last! Being able to drive right to the front door at lake level is a huge benefit.

Gorgeous little gem

  • 5 of 5

We just had a lovely stay at this house right on the shore of Lake Sutherland. Even with the rain that came in the last 3 days, it was absolutely beautiful in the house and looking out over the lake.

Make sure you take some time for some night stargazing; the Milky Way is very easy to see here, and the lovely dock and patio make for fantastic viewing!

We loved our VRBO stay on Lake Sutherland. The cottage was clean and well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend this property. The lake is small, but perfect for kayaking. The location is very close to Olympic National Park and other great hiking locations. The cottage has plenty of room for 2 couples or a couple with kids. Well stocked with everything you could need including lots of the condiments needed to make cooking easier and tastier. The hosts were very responsive and genuinely very nice people. They even picked us up and gave us a boat ride of the lake. If you're looking for a peaceful location, with a nice outdoor yard and dock with sunshine most of the day, this is it.

Property is in a lovely location. It is immaculate inside and out.

The focus of our trip was Hiking in ONP, and this property was centrally located. The cottage is in impeccable condition and appears to have been recently updated. It has a large open kitchen, dining, and living area which has great views of the lake. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing some of our meals. We found the beds very comfortable. Overall, the property exceeded our expectations.

Location and Views!! Lovely

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for access to the Olympic National Park. We brought our daughter who lives in downtown Seattle out here as she had never been. The access to the park was perfect. The views from the living room are breathtaking. The home is warm, comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped, we purchased fresh seafood in Port Angeles and had wonderful dinners. It's a perfect spot for a small group. Even though the home is small, it is set up perfectly. You won't go wrong here!

The Elwha River is about 7 miles from here. The dams on the Elwha were removed in 2013 and now the river runs free and the salmon runs are unobstructed. The river runs from deep within the Olympic National Park and offers visitors wonderful opportunities for hiking along the wild and scenic river. A must see!
