Jocassee Lakehouse with Lake on Three Sides!

View was beautiful, house was cozy, cost too high

  • 3 of 5

We had a good weekend and enjoyed the house. It was definitely over-priced though, so while it was great we won’t be renting again. FYI you have to bring your own sheets, towels etc. The deck and elevator cars to get you up to the car and down to the lake were so helpful! The screened in porch was really nice! Technically sleeps 11 but common area is really full with 7 adults.

A marvelous lake experience!!

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of 7 people who spent a week at Jocassee Lake (1st week of August 2017) . We are all in agreement that this place is a gem! Definitely a new "Happy place" for us. The biggest plusses are the beautiful, clear, uncrowded lake, the many waterfalls and the views from the house. The owner was quick to answer our questions. We rented a pontoon boat from Jocassee Keowee rentals- highly recommended to explore the lake and waterfalls. Cashiers is a quaint little town (30 min away) and the nearest grocery store. We would love to come back to see the Fall colors!

Wonderful Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This home was very unique in so many ways... exposed timbers, open stairwell with rock facing, outdoor showers, large screened in porch in addition to a very large open deck that wraps around two sides of the house, winding easy to navigate decks/stairs/sitting areas leading to the dock. The trams were a plus as well since we looked like we were moving every time we went somewhere..children and grandchildren and all the toys:>) The dock is in a cove, so, for those of you who know this lake, we did not worry about our boat when an afternoon thunderstorms rolled through. The pictures do not do the view justice!

It would be a great fall/winter rental as well - slide for wood to make easy transfer of wood from the parking area to the deck, covered wood storage area, opening from the deck into the fireplace so you would not need to carry wood through the house; open fireplace in addition to a separate freestanding wood stove on a rock platform!

Oh and plenty of parking area for us, three children and their spouses coming and going due to work schedules:>)

This property is amazing!

  • 4 of 5

If you know anything about construction, you'll be amazed how well this house is built.

The view is truly among the best in the world. Anywhere. It reminded us of Maui with the lush hillsides and remoteness.

Although, the "remoteness" isn't really all that remote. Cashiers is about 30 minutes away, and 30 minutes in the mountains is a heartbeat, so don't let that detract you.

The house was immaculate. The owners were friendly and accessible. Few homes in this locale have elevator rails to assist with provisions. It was nearly effortless and that's incredibly important for those who prefer to not transverse hundreds of stairs. (This is the way to experience Lake Jocassee).

We had rain, wind, sunshine, warm days and cold days, over our 5 day vacation. We rented a superb pontoon (Jocassee Outdoor Center) for 2 full days (because we didn't know what the weather may do) and it was fantastic.

Read the instructions carefully and you'll have a wonderful time in a spot that is truly a treasure. It's a definite bucket list destination for the one-time traveler and a routine vacation spot for those able.

This wonderful house is situated on a priceless piece of land.

I highly recommend this property!

Great House and Location

  • 5 of 5

Amazing house on a very quiet bay on a uncrowded mountain lake. This house is well maintained and furnished. The VBRO photos do not convey how amazing the house and site are from the time you pull up on the driveway, and down through the house and across the decks to the water. There is nicely decorated screened porch off the kitchen that was great for eating and relaxing in with a long bench style table, porch swing, couch, and two easy chairs. In early AUG the air and water temperatures at the lake were very comfortable. The drive in from the road was "exciting" but not as bad as some made it sound. There was almost no traffic noise, and very little boat noise for the week we were there. Cell and data service, T-mobile & AT&T were possible in certain locations. The decks and the boat dock were great. Although this house has a lift to the water, the number of stairs from the house to the dock were not a problem. I would come back to this site and recommend it to anyone.

This was our 1st trip to lake Jocassee and it was a great experience. Everything from the pristine lake, mountain views, waterfalls, hidden islands and beached was perfect! If your looking to get away and unplug this is the perfect spot. The accommodations were excellent. The views from the house and front porch were just awesome! We had a great experience and are hoping to go back in the future!!
