150 year old renovated cabin on scenic, private fishing pond. Tall ceilings, open floor plan. New appliances, outdoor grill, new bath and kitchen. The cabin is on the grounds of the WGC wildlife rehab center. Well-behaved dogs allowed. This rustic cabin will appeal to those guests looking for a more simple, "unplugged from technology" experience. Please know that the cabin does not have WiFi or a television.
The pond is full of bass and sunfish and you are invited to fish to your heart's content. The WGC is on the property grounds where small animals that are injured or orphaned are cared for and nursed back to health. Your host, Wayne, has run the WGC on the grounds for the last 20 years and is apt to have small animals, such as squirrels, trailing him around the property. Wayne lives in a separate residence across the pond on the 3 acre grounds.
The cabin is essentially a studio apartment on the second floor of an updated old barn. There is a queen bed, dining table with seating for 4 and a futon/couch that folds out into a queen sized bed.
Creature comforts include a record player with albums for you to enjoy and an eclectic selection of picture and history books. All bed and bath linens are included. Your host, Wayne, will likely build you a fire pit/bonfire in the evening for your enjoyment upon request.
The cabin is about 13 minutes from downtown Asheville. The drive is very easy, no steep mountain roads and all paved. Trendy, funky West Asheville is 10 minutes away from the cabin.
If you have questions about the accommodations, the grounds or anything else, please call Wayne. He will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
