What we Love about "Whiskey Away" Cabin

As you drive into the Hickory Hollow residence you find a community pool for your summer cool downs. As you wind your way to the cabin, you pass a community fishing pond perfect for the kids or grandchildren to experience catch and release. Then the perfect secluded drive guides you to your long awaited getaway.

As you walk onto the wrap around porch you see the charming little wagon in the front lawn. If you happen to peak around the corner and look to your left, you are greeted immediately by a view that appears to have been painted just for you. When you enter the cabin an expansive main floor welcomes you. The light shines through the massive windows and lights the space with a warm glow. Actually the sunrise can be seen from the comfort of the couch. Take a load off and choose one of the comfortable, cozy seating options, including two sofas and recliner. Upon sitting down facing the windows you will be able to enjoy that painting that’s just for you from the warmth of the crackling fire. During your evenings you can catch a movie on the giant 60” TV or again sit there mesmerized by the flames flickering in the 22 foot stone fireplace. A fully functional kitchen for all your meals is open to enjoy happy times with family and friends while preparing anything from fancy fixin’s to heating up pizza.

The expansive upper and lower deck will inevitably become a favorite space for many of you. During the crisp mornings you can experience the fabulous view of Cove Mountain watching the sunrise while enjoying a morning cup of coffee. If you prefer the secluded feel, well then just meander to the lower deck where you can sip your morning warmth staring into a beautiful wooded forest from the swinging bench. A must see during leaf season. As the day goes by and your return from your adventures from places like the Great Smokey National Forest only 6.9 miles away or horseback riding and zip-lining just 2.9 miles away,

Mini vacation

  • 4 of 5

Had a great time. Recommend it to anyone. Only issue was the mattress on the main floor sinks in a little bit. Other than that it was perfect.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin! It was in great shape and well kept. There was a strong sulfer smell in the water, but we guessed it was probably from a well. You may want to grab bottled water to bring if you plan on drinking water, other than that we loved it!

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed Whiskey Away! We will look into why the water smelled. We have not had a complaint on that before to my knowledge, but we will for sure look into it. Thank you for letting us know! We hope you all will plan to come back to stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies!

Rent at your own risk

  • 2 of 5

The cabin was beautiful. All wood interior and exterior. Beautiful views into the mountains.

Our problem was having the cabin issues fixed.

First we had a major leak into the basement area when someone took a shower on main level. We were left to clean it all up ourselves. They sent someone out but it was never fixed. Happened again the next day. We were still left with the cleanup.

The last day and night we stayed the air broke. They again sent someone out but it was never fixed. We had 7 people trying to sleep in an 81 degree cabin and had a 6hr trip home the next day.

We tried calling and emailing but to no avail. They stated that the issues were addressed and clearly they were not.

Problems were never fixed and we were never compensated for our inconveniences.

Rent this cabin at your own risk.

Owner's Response: We are truly sorry this guest felt like we were making no attempt to solve the problems they were having. We had our maintenance men go out 3 different times during the stay. Two times for the shower. The pipes were checked and were not leaking but the bathroom floor was full of water both times. This was discussed with the guest that if the shower liner does not stay pulled closed to prevent the water from coming out of the tub on to the wood floors, it would continue to leak. The air conditioning unit was frozen due to the guests leaving the doors open while the ac unit was continuously running. There was nothing we could do about that except allow the unit to thaw. We never want guests to be unhappy during their stay, but we also need our guests to treat the cabin with respect. The owners to these cabins work hard to provide the perfect vacation experience for their guests and as you can see, this cabin has very good reviews.

Clean, inviting, and an absolutely beautiful view. The forest provides plenty of privacy.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend at the cabin and could have easily stayed longer. I was surprised by the amount of privacy. The view of the mountains is amazing. All of amenities and furniture were very clean. We'd love to go back!

Word of advice for anyone with young kids - the stairwells down to the basement and up to the loft are open. You might want to bring safety gates to have peace of mind while you're there.

Pretty, well stocked cabin.

  • 4 of 5

Three of my grown children and grandchildren stayed comfortable. Able to spend much needed time together with room to spread out as well.

Cabin had a water leak in basement when upstairs shower was used and pipes knock and band when toilets are flushed. Master bathroom door opens and closes by itself, little freaky. Mountain view it's pretty and telescope it's a nice extra.

I would stay there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us at Whiskey Away. There was some major water problems there and now have all been fixed. Matter of fact there has since been a pretty good downstairs renovation. So when you come back I think you will notice some changes. Glad you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to having you back.
