About this property

Canyon Lake Tree House

Cute single bedroom bungalow with a comfortable king size bed in the master bedroom and two separate twin beds in the family room, perched on a hillside overlooking beautiful canyon lake, this 1970's home has a spacious outdoor deck you can BBQ on. You can watch the sun go down in our tree swing or possibly feed deer that frequently pass by. The early morning view with a cup of coffee is so very peaceful. The home is directly is across the street from a large boat launch and also just a few minutes from inter tubing on the Guadalupe river. Getting into the water to cool off, swim, or boat is easy from here with lake access down the hill and across the street. This one of a kind bungalow hideaway is perfect for your peaceful family getaway from the city when you just want to kick off your shoes and relax. Because the entrance to the Tree House will require some walking up hill on natural stone steps, extreme caution is suggested for those with any kind of physical challenge, poor balance, or weak health. The fireplace is fully functional and operative, but we ask all guests to do not use it, so the home always smells fresh and clean for the next guests who might arrive after them.

Tree House Stay

We very much enjoyed our 3-day stay here. I particularly enjoyed having beer and peanuts on the large deck and watching the deer at dusk!

A wonderful treehouse escape

The treehouse was a wonderful place to stay and relax for a couple of days to get away from it all. The treehouse is very comfortable, and the style and design is simply charming. We couldn’t get enough of the deck outside and the view of the lake. I recommend it highly, and we hope to return soon.

Amazing View and Cute House!

This house is a gem!!! From the amazing view of the lake to the 60s inspired decor inside, this Tree House is an amazing property! It is perfect for a small family, the kids slept on the twin beds and my husband and I slept in the King bed. It was very cold outside during Christmas but the house stayed nice and warm!! Will definitely be booking again!!!

One of my new favorite places at the lake!

Fantastic views from my new favorite front porch. Entire wall of windows across the front of the house gives you the most amazing views morning noon and night. The house was stocked with everything that we needed and I loved the retro/vintage feel of the house. I would definitely stay here again and again. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

Birthday Weekend Getaway

Everything about The Tree House was fantastic. We loved the vintage comfort of it all and the views were spectacular. The house had everything we needed and was centrally located to mostly everything we could want. We went to the San Antonio Zoo one day and the commute was about 45 to 50 minutes and the rest of the days we explored the different look outs and rock beaches around. On our last day we ventured down to Gruene to the Grist Mill and had an amazing dinner. Thank you for an amazing birthday getaway! It was just great!

Vintage Sixties Treehouse with a View

My spouse and I spent three night in April at the Canyon Lake Treehouse. The entire place is dressed out in vintage sixties decor, which adds uniqueness and charm. The one bedroom home felt roomy and was nicely laid out and could work for a couple with small children, as well. The most unforgettable feature, though, was the view. With floor-to-ceiling window's, it could be enjoyed throughout the house. The deck was amazing, and each evening the lightning bugs would put on a show as we enjoyed the lake vista. The location is near to shopping and restaurants. We took easy day trips to the town of Wimberly, to the LBJ state and national parks near Johnson City and to the Gruene. There were amazing wildflowers along the way to each nearby place. The Treehouse is highly recommended for a couple's getaway or for a small family.

Perfect Getaway, Fantastic Views, Would Have Stayed A Month!

The Tree House is a gem of a property. Wow, just sitting on the deck in 65 degree weather looking at that beautiful lake after a cold few months in Kansas was a real treat. The house has been in the same family a long time so is well cared for. It is also well-stocked, and the local contact lives right next store and is very available to help. We loved waking up every morning and taking a long hike. For hikers, check out the walk across the damn, the Guadalupe River trail in Canyon Lake, Guadalupe River Park, Landa Park, Perdinales Park, and the best of the best - the 3-hour tour of the Gorge about 10 minutes from the property. It was COVID so we only did take-out but the kitchen was well-stocked so we also cooked...grocery very close. Wildflower has some excellent food and was a 3-minute drive to pick up take-out. We plan to return...this was an excellent adventure and the vistas and views are phenomenal. BTW, the wi-fi is terrific, better than home! Brian, thank you for a well-needed vacation.

NYE stay

We booked last minute as a way to get away for NYE. The views of the lake are stunning. The home, as described by other reviewers, was a pleasant sort of trip back into time from the 70s. There were some nice personal details througout. The two twin beds are actually located in the living room (which I didn't expect) and there are full open (no coverings/blinds) windows floor to ceiling in this area so if you are looking for children to sleep in, they must be immune to sunrises (mine wake up at the first sign of light). The home appeared clean at surface level, but it could definitely use a deep cleaning (multiple dirty areas all over the floor around the sofa and in "non-main living" areas. The stove and oven also needed a very, very good deep clean. The fireworks were not exactly what we expected, but I didn't really do any research. I thought fireworks would be from the water for the whole lake to see, but instead it was various homes around the lake doing their own fireworks that we could see (although small) from the front porch. The front porch had a nice propane heating lamp and the owner provided the property with several full propane tanks which came in handy during the cold evening.

There were so many things I liked about the Treehouse! The view #1 also the comfy bed, functional grill, efficient a/c, abundance of hot water, and even without a working oven, we had what we needed in the kitchen. I really appreciated the large rope along the steps leading to the house & the light switch at the top & bottom was a great safety addition. Brian was quick to respond to my questions and the description was accurate except for the idea that we couple park a fishing boat on that very narrow road—not a good recommendation. The decor was very nostalgic for us having been born in the 50’s & I enjoyed the candles in the fireplace. We were very comfortable & very much enjoyed our stay. Hope to come back again.

I became aware of Canyon Lake many years when I was a youth, and I was invited to water ski there. I fell in love with mainly the east side of the lake where the water seemed to be the smoothest and the sunsets were the best. It took me many years to locate this special property to purchase, and now I have the chance to share many of my own experiences which are fond memories of mine, hoping others will make similar ones for themselves who come here to vacation.

Why they chose this property

The San Antonio & Austin corridor between the two highways of I35 and 281 has grown quite significantly in the past two decades. Very few people are aware of Canyon Lake existence because it cannot be seen much from the streets. It is a beautiful lake, and it takes either going up to the shoreline or going high above it in the hillsides to actually see the beauty and wonders found there. Most Texas lakes are famous for their fishing. Canyon Lake is mostly famous for its hidden views and landscapes.

What makes this property unique

The view of the entire length of the lake from east to west makes this property very different from the rest.
