MCA # 1271. Our place is a charming beach house with lots of wood features: oak floors, pine panelling and cedar cathedral ceilings with skylights. There are two private decks separated by a gazebo with a large spa/hot tub that can easily accommodate six people. The side deck has patio furniture and a new grill perfect for barbecue.
The private, master bedroom has high ceilings and a new, king sized bed with new, excellent mattress and linens, and an adjoining (external) full bathroom. The second and third bedrooms are on the opposite side of the great room/dining room, making it easy for two families to share the house. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed with an Englander mattress (and internal bathroom) and the third bedroom has a trundle bed (two singles) each with a very comfortable mattress. Both the second and third bedrooms face out to the forest.
The house is located at the south end of Manzanita, a quiet residential town with a few great restaurants and shops. We are only half block from one of the most spectacular secluded beaches on Oregon's North Coast. It is bordered on one end by Neahakanie Mountain and on the other by a State Park. The beach ends in a spit and Neahkannie Bay which creates a whole different water landscape than the mighty Pacific Ocean. On the much quieter bay, there is crabbing, seal watching and kayaking.
The house is a 15 minute walk (beach or street) from the town of Manzanita, which is very much in the public eye these days. In 2005, there were articles in Sunset and Coastal Living about this sweet fun town.

This was our second escape to Rivensdale in Manzanita and once again it was a great family event. The place is so comfortable for us with a cozy warm atmosphere (stained glass), a wood stove, close to the beautiful beach, good beds and an escape from winter in a family sized hot tub! Town and stunning parks nearby. A special place for us...
Perfect spot, beautiful space, everything needed to relax and unwind!
Perfect location for walks on the beach!
We loved the location of this house, right next to a beach trail that we used often for long walks. The size of the house was also just right for our family and dog. Visited the shops in Manzanita and enjoyed the local flavor. Thank you for a wonderful get-away!
Beach day beautiful and so close for walking and then a great soak in the hot tub.
Cozy Beach Cottage
We loved the proximity to the beach while feeling tucked away in the woods. The stain glass features and the vaulted ceilings bring such character to the home.
The hot tub was a perfect touch, especially in September with temps in the 50's and 60's in the evening. The beds win the day, however - that was the hardest thing to leave. :) We loved having such a well stocked kitchen plus the grill. It was put to good use. The dining room table became our evening gathering place after the kids were asleep.
We enjoyed several walks to town and my husband enjoyed the 9 hole course up the street as well.
Overall, fantastic stay!
Great access, older home but lots of charm
Property is as described from prior reviews, small, older, but excellent location.
House is well stocked with cooking gear, again, not the most organized or fanciest, but ample supplies. House was also well stocked with plenty of blankets and sheets, and I did not have any issues with the towels having a mildew or moldy small as a prior reviewer commented. The lighting is minimal at night, so prepare to whip out your reading glasses and bring any additional lighting (head lamp?) . No TV, which was fine by our family, and the wifi albeit spotty, was able to stream a video without too many glitches. Big bonus, in my opinion, tons of games (Life Star Wars, Harry Potter Trivia!) and puzzles. The hot tub was amazing and huge, no temperature issues. No area for a firepit, but who needs a fire pit when you have a giant hot tub. Note 1: house did come with a life jacket for 2 and under. Note 2: No fans, ceiling or portable, owner mentioned he may add later on.
This was our first time staying in Manzanita, and we adored the smaller town charm relative to Cannon Beach and Seaside. 1 mile easy flat walk to "downtown", lovely summer Friday Farmer's Markets, and the Pastry shop. Beach access was just as easy, about a 3 minute walk to the entrance of the beach, and another 5 minute walk to get down the the water. Not super steep, but did have a workout hauling all the beach gear.
We visited on Labor Day, and the beach was not over-crowded at any time. Lots of families, kite/wake surfers, dogs, kites, horses, the typical Coast scene, but very calm and not hectic. Also, not many fires at the beach, so we were not having to skirt a lot of beach firepit debris in the morning.
Highly recommend, this house has fantastic value. Owner was very prompt replying to any questions, and the house has amazing charm.
Manzanita is only a 90 minute drive from Portland, Oregon.
