Safe and Quiet Stay by the Bay

Only a two minute walk from the water's edge finds you in this comfortable two bedroom destination. It has heritage features such as exposed brick while at the same time utilizes modern technology to make the techy person feel right at home. Three large flat screen 1080 tvs with access to hundreds of HD channels and unlimited high speed wifi invite those who like to stay in touch with the world, family and business while away from home.

Wake up in the morning and appreciate the large heated bathroom tile floor where each family member can have their shower/bath without running out of hot water thanks to our tankless on-demand water heater.

The full laundry affords the guests the real feel of home.

Kids love their time in the tide pools at the edge of the bay. Parents appreciate the fact they can catch a transit bus across the street or take the four minute walk to the mall to do their shopping.

History! There is a tourist destination just a two minute walk away from the door. It is the world famous Ross Bay Cemetery where pioneers of Western Canada are laid to rest. Regular guided tours are available to those interested in learning the history of Vancouver Island and the west coast of Canada.

Beautiful home steps from beautiful cove with great breakfast provided.

Home away from home

Don and Helen are very welcoming hosts. They ensured that everything I needed was in place- including coffee and croissants. The on site was parking was a bonus. Nice quiet location, but easy and quick access to amenities.

Great host great location

I spent a month at Don and Helens suite in Victoria. Amazing location, close to a nice Thriftys grocery store with an amazing Deli and 1 minute off Dallas road! Hosts were super nice and very accommodating. Lots of sunlight and a comfy bed! The Netflix was a nice add on! Would definitely stay here again for future getaways!

Lovely home away from home

We loved our stay in this beautiful suite. All the comforts of home plus the advantage of being so close to the ocean!! This rental was perfect for our family. It was clean, comfortable, and every detail was well thought-out. It combines the best of a residential and city location, with shopping in easy walking distance. Don and Helen were very welcoming, and even had the kitchen stocked with breakfast food for us. Having a short walk down to the water's edge was another plus, as well as the beautiful landscaping around the house. We loved it!

Cozy convenient

Just four houses from the ocean (Ross Bay) and a five minute walk to groceries, Starbucks and local pub. Two buses are available very nearby (could. Not hear any traffic in our suite). Hosts were very thoughtful (tea, coffee, treats to start us off upon arrival). They shared their daily newspaper with us. We would highly recommend this gem in FAirfield.

Clean, perfect location, owners went above and beyond

Our family of 5 stayed here for a quick spring break. We loved the location. So easy to walk into town, take the bus, stroll to the shops or get a take away pizza. The best was being in walking distance of 2 gorgeous beaches full of wildlife and adventure. The flat was under the owners house so you have a few footsteps above and we hope our kiddos weren't too loud but it was such a lovely little place. A cozy fireplace, perfectly stocked kitchen, so clean, comfy couch and lovely bathroom. The owners were so kind. And just went above and beyond. Thank you for our lovely holiday. Great stay in Victoria

Don and Helen are very welcoming hosts. We felt very much at home. Helen introduced us to the living space and made sure we had all the instructions we needed to be comfortable. The apartment was very clean and very comfortable for the three of us. The neighborhood is quiet and very safe. Easy walk to the beach and to the small shopping area which had all we required to make our time easy - grocery, liquor store, a couple of restaurants, gas, etc. We spent our days exploring Victoria and felt so comfortable coming "home" to the Ross Bay Escape. A parking space was available. We received a newspaper each day. Made our stay in Victoria very pleasant. Thank you so much for the hospitality.

Wonderful Stay!

All you could wish for from start to finish. Lots of room to spread out. Suite was larger than expected. Has all you need to do any cooking etc you’d want. Location was wonderful. Ocean is 4 houses away from your door. We walked and biked along Dallas Road many times. And Oak Bay is in the opposite direction. Beautiful! If you like walking, you could actually walk to a Victoria Harbour and everything downtown offers. Helen and Don were perfect hosts. Very friendly, helpful and always there whenever you need them. A definite 12 out of 10.

Ocean side cozy home stay

Beautiful place that has a nice area outside to sit, and enjoy the outdoors w/ a 2 minute walk to the ocean beach area! And just a short 10 minute drive to down town :) loved the inside as well very spacious and cozy- really makes you feel at home and the owners are just darling! Parking spot is perfect too! I am grateful to have had the opportunity to stay here.

Great hosts and location

Don and Helen are excellent and very caring hosts. We intended to have a getaway while our family was visiting and using our own home in the Victoria area. Unfortunately there was a death in the family during our stay and Don and Helen were very helpful and supportive. The suite is lovely and the location superb.

Excellent hosts in a great location!

We are an older couple who stayed at this property for about 5 weeks. The suite is very nice and we were quite comfortable there. The owners left a binder full of things to do in Victoria which we took full advantage of. The location is less than 10 minutes to downtown. The property was clean and we received cleaning services once a week. All paper products were restored as well. It is a 3 to 5 minute walk up to a shopping area that has a grocery store, drug store, Starbucks, a pub and more! There also is a gas station. Down the street from the property a few doors down, is the ocean with a walking path and a gorgeous view. There were plenty of towels and we had kitchen supplies that mostly met our needs. This is a nice cozy spot located very close to all the things you need to have a fun and be comfortable with your stay in Victoria.

We had such a wonderful stay in this cozy suite. Don and Helen's suite was incredibly clean and, upon arrival, the kitchen was well stocked with several starter items. Perfect location, clean and quiet.

We had a wonderful stay! We couldn't have asked for a better location. One block to the beach, tidpools and bike / running path. Our hosts were so kind and generous. The house was very clean and quiet. And the garden surrounding the entry was obviously lovingly cared for. We were five in total - me, my husband, our two boys (9 and 4) and my mom. It suited our needs perfectly. We would definitely return.

A wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at Don and Helen’s appartment. The appartment is very clean, has all one needs and more! and is very nicely decorated. The kitchen is fully equiped and was filled with basic needs that go beyond the standards such as cereals, eggs and bread just to get started up. Don and Helen are very warm and welcoming people. We felt very appreciated. The best welcome one can get. The location is fantastic. Also for public transport users like us. There are several bus stops and a super market close by. And of course there is the seaside just about 2 minutes away from the appartment!

Helen and I met when we were young teens when her parents came to our community to minister in our church. We went through high school together and were married when we were 20 years old. Here we are 56 years later still in love and privileged to host people from all over the world who want to enjoy the quiet, tranquil environment that the ground level suite in our 1912 built heritage home affords them. The suite renovation was a major project we undertook to provide us with a way of sharing our home with others in our golden years. We love people and are so pleased with the friendships we have established with those that choose to come our way.

Why they chose this property

Helen's parents purchased this property when they were looking for a retirement home back in the 1960s. Being so close to the water with the wonderful flat topography that daily walks were done with ease was an ideal spot for them to establish as their final landing place. In 1996 we purchased the home about four years after we had moved to Victoria from our place of growing up in Central Alberta. It was so nice to get into a more temperate climate that being adjacent to Ross Bay provides. In the summer the sea breeze keeps the highs of the day in the reasonable area while in the winter we seldom see snow and most afternoons are above freezing so seniors are out walking almost every day without the fear of slipping on icy sidewalks.

What makes this property unique

Our suite has only steps from ground level to enter through to the spacious living/dining room. It's only a 2 minute walk to the water's edge or the historic Ross Bay Cemetery. If you want to walk to the local shopping mall it's only a four minute walk the other way. The bus stop is right across the street and you hardly hear street traffic from the well insulated suite. This is a quiet, comfortable place to stay.
