WE have three local year round waterfalls in 7 to 10 miles of the house . Cascadel Falls, Angel falls at Bass Lake, and Whiskey Creek falls.

We are 26 minutes to the south entrance according to driving notes in my review from a tenant as well as our experience driving into south entrance which is the entrance that has the giant grizzly seqoias. The yosemite train is also outside the park on the way in from our house on hi way 41, before the south entrance.

Behind the house is a school yard, which you cannot see but can hike to the top of in 5 minutes and cross over, for a football field, baseball field. tennis court, playground etc and occasional adult yoga class by a previous neighbor gym teacher of mine. WE have yoga one mile in town as well in case you want a local activity as well as the Mono Indian museum is catty corner behind us in 1/10 mile.

For more questions about our area, check yosemite scenic by way on the internet.

Look forward to hosting you. Liza and Mike

their reservations so we can work with each person or family and give special terms based on needs and budgets. Come see us at our VRBO in La Jolla, CA, Hawaii and Yosemite.

Why Liza Szabo chose North Fork

Minutes from Bass Lake and the beauty of the Sierra Nevada leading into Yosemite National Park. One mile to town for gas, groceries, post office, coffee and shops yet in the mountains bordering nearby river and swimming, easy to get to. Three local waterfalls and three lakes, 2 miles, 5 miles and 12 miles from house.

What makes this house unique

Bass Lake nearby and just a short drive into Yosemite National Parks South gates, in 26 minutes posted by renters on our reviews and our experience also. Many amenities, stores, bar and grill, dining out, post office one mile from house.. Close to Badger Pass and China Peak ski areas. Three local waterfalls in 7 to 10 miles, Cascadel, Angel Falls and Whiskey falls offering local hiking and off the beaten road track no crowds or less as known more to locals who know the inside and outside of the Yosemite by way.

Guestbook comments from the owner

WE loved the house and the area. We are vacation rental maids in Los Angeles and needed a get away, we work so hard. Our kids loved it since they could walk to the ball parks and swing sets behind the property but is hidden and quiet. The views out were better than the other houses we stayed at in past years, which had none. The trees and rolling hills made a private spot yet just a few hundred feet to a perfect main road.We visited local falls, like cascadel of a friend of the owners and spent time at the river and drove into the park in 26 minutes, as well as we are only 5 miles to the bass lake dam where we walked our dogs and had a big sky , beauty, restaurants, hiking and more to do than even inside the park. This house was clean and had good vibes as well as not having to drive to everything inside the 90 square mile park which we found stunning but you have to drive inside to anything, this house we could play at the museum, rivers, lakes, domes and hike, the outside inside park, yosemite by way. We found the owners through VRBO and were impressed to find it clean, since I am a clean freak, and we visited this home many times. I told the owner she could post my notes as we dont get online that often, so busy cleaning other vacation rentals, and this one was CLEAN and beautiful with lots to do, great for kids and families to hang out without having to drive all day.

Stargazing House

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful mtn home. Young modern decor. Great porch for star gazing. A few suggestions : more lights needed in living and dining rooms. Too dark to read or do needlework. Unappreciative $ signage for broken or mismanaged items. Almost terrible results for communication when we couldn't access the driveway and house locks! Nobody said locks would be changed after we printed out the instructions from home months ago.

Thank God we found a neighbor home. Overall great stay.

Fabulous, beautiful and comfy home! Owners were very easy to work with and they were always very responsive and helpful! The interior and exterior spaces were large enough for all 10 of my family members. Could have used 1 more shower in the house, but other than that it worked very well for us. The only other advise I have is plan on lots of drive time. We found that we spent lots of time in the car on the way to destinations. Bass lake however wa very close and was one of the coolest days we had!

Thank you!

Comfortable Beautiful House/close to town/swimming/lake/30 min to entrance

  • 5 of 5

We love to cook and be comfortable on our vacations. I picked this house and have visited several times both summer and winter. I was referred by my realtor who also vacations here. The granite counters are beautiful and we love the slate shower feeling of rock and stone in the area. Spacious with vaulted high ceilings and fans in every room and AC so we never get hot. The stars on the deck at night are amazing.

There was two King beds memory foam and all beds had toppers so we were able to have more adults and extra den and beds for kids to kick back and watch tv or hang out while I cooked. The kitchen connects with the dining room and living room while cooking, with a serving glass extra counter so we could pass out the food plates and my kids serve us! The house was very clean and had large rattan mats which we like a lot as when we were here in the past the wood was nice but exposed so it makes it easier for us to take off our shoes. The master has a serene window of many manzanita trees.

We had privacy and yet were less than a mile to the ranger station and we swam every day at the best local swimming hole the owners neighbors share with the locals as well as is a national US spot for the State Loggers Jamboree in july which we have come to a few times and then found this home only 3/10 mile from that river. We like to hike and swim at bass lake, and the grill there is excellent so we had the best of both worlds. The park is only 1/2 hour to the south entrance and the train is before that. We go up east to the Yosemite Scenic by way loop, as my husband likes all the off the beat rivers and redinger lake for less crowded areas as well as we love the park, both the inside borders and this gem, area called Yosemite scenic by way loop which also leads to mammoth pools and hot springs easily. One has to educate one self as there is so much to do as well as Shaver Lake, and two other parks Kings Canyon and The Seqoia park. The south entrance we enjoyed the most as you dont have to drive far to the Giant Grizzy sequoias, and we also enjoyed the Shopping in Oakhusrt has a huge grocery store as well as a market one mile from the house. We have become friends with the owners and staff and come often. I wrote our review write away as we do on our way out and saw the previous review and felt to let others know this is not a dusty cabin but a pretty well kept mountain home modest, nice beds and furnishings, a good desk! great internet and cable. ADORABLE.

I wouldn't stay there again

  • 1 of 5

Upon arrival, we were met by the caretaker, who reminded us of the rules set forth in the rental contract. You pay for electricity during your stay (never experienced that one before), and if you don't take your trash to the dump, you have to pay a fee! Also, he told us because the maids already work so hard, we were told to strip the linens off all the beds before leaving. Finally, the satellite wasn't working, so no TV. We were told they had been waiting for a while for the repair guy to come out, but we felt like they hadn't tried to schedule it. The impression we had was that no one had been there in some time and the owner doesn't want to put money into the place for upkeep. Okay, whatever, we'd roll with it because we're on vacation. We also felt we had no choice but to agree to everything since the owner had our security deposit. We took a picture of the meter right away and another when we checked out, just in case.

The house was just okay. One of the "bedrooms" doesn't have a door, it only has a curtain for privacy, which is completely sheer when the light is on in there, and it's directly off the living room. In another room, the bed frame is held together with zip ties, so my 6'3" son was worried about breaking it (we took pictures when we got there, just in case). The master bed was extremely uncomfortable. I sneezed more than I've ever sneezed in my life--it was as if the house hadn't been aired out in a while or they frequently rent to people with pets.

More than a week after we checked out, we got an email saying that our security deposit was on its way back, less the cost of electricity. Sure enough, their calculation of electricity didn't match ours. We took a picture of the meter and turned off the air conditioner and all the lights when we left, so we know our calculation is correct. (Perhaps the house cleaning people turn the air back on when they cleaned--the cleaning for which we already paid.) I sent the owner the pictures and an email explaining the discrepancy. She hasn't responded.

We booked this house at the last minute because it was advertised as elegant and secluded. It is secluded. It is miles from elegant.

Owner's Response: INTERNET CYBER BULLY DUE TO OVER USE OF AC/ BAD GUESTS NOT CARING FOR OUR HOME. Check calendar booked full & professionally cleaned: see reviews. ODD 1 star retaliation that actually has LIES in it. Utlities run around $2 to $10 a day due to propane in mountains. We reduced our rates to assist more people from 399 to 299 nt and added utlities which are less, to keep folks mindful of our green community. Everything in this is UNTRUE. You wonder when we have 4 and 5 stars how a house fully booked all summer can drop to a 1 between highly rated reviews the day before and after other than INTERNET BULLYING because of their own depression they brought with them that they cant enjoy being in the Yosemite Scenic by Way. One review posts its the best all around location with ammenities. WE have advanced dish 120 package and HBO which many houses have no access. We are not remote: we are 5 miles south of Bass Lake in the yosemite Scenic By Way. We have a 100,000 kitchen, granite counters, slate floors and Marble bathrooms, oak floors, Temperpedic mattresses, New beds, Double pane windows, Deck in front and back, Mountain views, walk to Swimming river, or drive in 2 minutes. No bedroom has only a curtain this is a fabrication, we have a den with draw curtains for a desk and extra bed for extra guests that is a deck room. and 3 other full bedrooms with DOORS. Why do people lie? they had a bad time together, as a honeymoon couple want to come back every year and everything in yosemite is booked and almost all homes are outside the park as its the size of RHODE Island and you cannot build in STATE PARKS except three hotels and a few sprinkled homes. Vacation rentals are near bass lake and small towns outside the park like we are. The home is like all homes, in the nature and we have all lost trees up here and it is dry in July and August even in side the waterfall areas, which usually dont run and we had a 7 year drought, but in now way doe we have bad beds, or no elegance, We have expensive art work and clean new furnishings. We have beds with temperpedic matresses, and other reveiws say comfortable beds! I replaced everything in 2012. I would like to get a brown sleeper couch as folks with kids and dogs jump on them and my velvet is not brand new but not enough to get this review. which is not in any way not elegant to many. I could say its nicer than my home at the beach for us psychologists who enjoy art and beauty, so what did they really not like?.

Secluded and private. Close to Bass Lake and nice drive toYosemite

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. There was plenty of sleep space for our group of 6 and our Yorkie. It's a great location that isn't too far from Bass Lake where we rented a boat for the day and about a 1.5 hr drive to Yosemite Valley. The swimming hole across the street was a great place to go for a dip and cool off. I loved sitting out on the porch in the morning with my coffee as the sun was coming us and again enjoying the serenity in the evening.

Some of the information that was given to is prior to check in was incorrect but we managed just fine. Steve, the caretaker, luckily met us at just the right time being that our cellular service was extremely limited. We did attempt to call him during our stay and we're disappointed that he never returned our call. For those of you, who use hairdryers, be sure to bring one from home as there isn't any at the house - my fault for not bringing mine. We also brought movies to watch in the evenings but never found the DVD player nor could we get the cable to work on the TV - no biggie cuz we brought books and board games to entertain us in the evenings. Don't forget bug spray as the mosquitos are out in the evening.

Over all, nice place and we really enjoyed our stay and vacation!
