Wildacre = A+
This is a beautiful meadow type setting of a cabin in the Chattahoochee National Forest of the North Georgia Mountains. A significant size winding creek borders very close to the cabin’s front porch. Seclusion, natural setting and peacefulness are a few of its assets. A significant effort has been made to enhance your stay toward enjoying nature – very large screened-in front porch, flower garden, inviting outdoor sitting areas, outdoor fire-pit and a primitive nature trail on the property.
The cabin, itself, was very clean, efficient, decorated with character and had comfortable beds and furnishings. The kitchen/dinning provided everything you needed. The primitive nature of the cabin did not sacrifice comfort. It was such a special place to spend time in the Georgia Mountains !
We took 2 one-day trips to Chattanooga, TN and one trip to Ellijay, GA. and explored the neighboring mountain areas. For dinning in Ellijay – we recommend Cantaberry’s for lunch and Charlie’s Italian for dinner. We liked Puckett’s in Chattanooga.
Also, within a 2 minute drive - there is a trailhead access point (near the historic Dennis Mill) to the famous 337-mile Pinhoti Trail. I hiked about 5 miles of this trail and once you enter into the National Forest it is very pretty. I had my wife drop me off at the trailhead and I simply walked back to the cabin (I mile). In addition - you’re within a 30 minute drive to the Cohutta Wilderness Area for additional hiking.
So, there you have it – our experience at “Wildacre”. I rate our overall experience A+.
Wildacre met our needs perfectly! We were looking for a place close to Fort Mountain State Park and Chatsworth for the Teardrop Half Marathon. Wildacre is about 10 miles outside of Chatworth, close enough, but still far away so we could have a remote and relaxing place after the half marathon. Wildacre was great! The photos in the HomeAway listing were not really accurate - - Wildacre was actually much BETTER than depicted in the photos! You simply cannot appreciate how wonderful it is to be on 40 acres, with a noisy creek literally feet from the front screened in porch and the master bedroom. Wildacre is a charming older home (take that as a positive statement, not negative) that was very clean when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, foil, wrap, and all the necessities. Judy was quite attentive to our needs, and we felt very welcomed!
We have already told our friends and relatives about Wildacre, and we plan to return when we need a nice relaxing weekend. We are also looking forward to hiking some of the trails in the nearby woods. Thank you again for helping us find a great get-away!
We love Wildacre!
What a great visit we had at Wildacre!
Our son Charlie and his wife Laura, from Atlanta, our son Andrew from Brooklyn, and Katie and I all were very impressed by your attention to detail and the absolutely wonderful place! Just fantastic!
We had a great time seeing the many details. On the third day I was still seeing things I hadn't noticed before. Its a museum, actually, combined with a luxury suite in a national forest. Really impressive!
We had a few rain showers and that porch was just a wonderful place to sit and enjoy it.
We have stayed at many cabins but we must say this one has been the best. The pictures don’t compare to the true beauty of this place. We will definitely come again - All of the “added touches” you have made together with the natural beauty is beyond what we hoped. Thank you for sharing.
The Perfect Getaway!
My cousins and I decided we wanted to rent a cabin in a beautiful mountain setting for a getaway and we found the perfect place in Wildacre. The cabin was great and had everything we could ask for and the grounds were spectacular complete with bubbling creek just outside the front door. I highly recommend Wildacre!
Can't wait for my next Wildacre experience!
I'm so excited about our next trip to Wildacre in June! I've talked about Wildacre to my husband so much following each of our "girl-cousin retreats" that we spent there that he has agreed it's now his turn! I couldn't think of a better birthday gift for him! I remember all the ooos and ahhhs that my cousins all said as we walked in the front door that first time! Everything was so neat and clean, and all the "special touches" that you offered made us feel so very special and right at home! And, we did so much while we were there! All the pictures that we took are now preserved in a fun slide presentation that makes us long to go back every time we view it. My husband and I definitely plan to absorb all that nature has to offer at Wildacre. You can be sure that a big part of our time will be spent on that wonderful screened porch listening to the delightful sounds of the creek and songbirds. Wildacre is a wonderful place for making memories, and it just may have become a tradition for us! We'll definitely keep coming back!
