Ground-Floor Tahoe Lodge by Forest Trails

Welcome to Emerald Bay Gateway, a quiet ground-floor lodge next to the forest, with hiking and biking trails right outside the door. Miles of recreation trails across US Forest land lead toward Lake Tahoe, Camp Richardson and Fallen Leaf Lake, while popular dining and shopping are just a few short minutes away.

The lodge offers plenty of outdoor space along with a large living room, efficient kitchen and an ensuite. Best of all—no stairs! The kitchen features granite counters, a gas cooktop and views of the common grounds. Step through the slider onto the private covered patio overlooking the pool area and forest.

Your furry friends are welcome for an additional $35 per day, per pet, with a maximum of 2 pets and a 60 lb limit. Please contact us prior to booking to ensure availability. With consideration for future guests and those with allergies, we ask that pets do NOT get on any of the furniture including the beds.

We feel that transparency is very important and want to give you an accurate picture of your stay. Many of these factors are out of our control, so we ask for your understanding when reviewing the property. We are here to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so if there is anything we can do during your stay, you just let us know.

Great place! Location is amazing with easy access to SLT and the lake. Wonderful trails through the trees just next to the complex. Pool was great! Unit was clean and exactly as advertised.

the space worked okay for our stay. there were definitely some things that we weren’t expecting that weren’t great. it was hot and there was no a/c or any fans at all. no window in the bedroom to cool down at night, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. the bed is a full size which was tight for 2 adults. you have to turn sideways to move between the shin buster bed frame and the wall to get to the bathroom. the keyless entry was easy to get into but a little hard to figure out how to lock when leaving. we were sent the incorrect wifi password which my spouse needed for work, however the host sorted that out for us quickly. we were informed a day or 2 before our stay that the pool and spa at the complex would not be available so that was inconvenient as we choose this space thinking we would have that amenity. the walls were a little dirty (from previous pets) and some cobwebs present. i get that it’s high season in tahoe, but i would probably look for another option before staying here again. if these things wouldn’t bother you, it’s a great option. for the price i personally was hoping for a little better.

The first issue was the electronic lock. It was very difficult to open. We finally had to call the property manager who admitted it was tricky and to keep figiting with it and eventually we got it to open. It was equally difficult to relock it upon leaving. We immediately found the unit to be very dirty, floor and nearly all horizontal surfaces. There were no amenities as are common at every other rental we have ever used. We finally found one soap dispenser under the kitchen sink which we used for the bathroom sink and the shower. The bedroom is tiny with the oversized wooden bedframe taking up most of the space. The bathroom is off the bedroom so you have to be very careful to not bang your toes or shins on the bedframe when squeezing up the side to get to it. And then there is the mattress which is only a double, not a queen or king. We found in the morning that the back sliding glass door could not even be locked and bears in Tahoe are very adept at opening unlocked doors. We left first thing in the morning and got a room at a local hotel for the remainder of our weekend.
