Very Nice Property!
My family and I stayed at The Cottages for a birthday celebration. The grounds are terrific and we played games all day with a BBQ party and sat around the fire pit at night. The Cottages were clean and well equipped. We all had a great time and would love to stay again.
Amazing Property for Extended Families or Groups
We searched extensively for a large home or homes that would accommodate our extended family for a very special reunion, and the Cottages were a gem among gems. The 3 homes (7 bedrooms!) and huge grounds allowed our entire family, old and young, to be together for meals, celebrations, etc., but also were perfect for individuals who wished retreat to their private space. The houses are stocked with everything you would need, are immaculately clean, and Barb, the fantastic and friendly owner, was so responsive from the time we booked the home until we checked out. It was very difficult to leave the Cottages (especially with such a large group), because we had everything we needed right there – cooking facilities, games and open space for the kids to play (fenced in, even), entertainment in the form of watching the polo horses being exercised, and absolutely no limit to parking. We were so close to Santa Barbara and the beach, yet we felt that we were in our own private compound. There is no other affordable place in the area that has all of the above for a large group– we know, because we looked! We certainly intend to return; loved every moment.
A lovely setting by the polo fields of Carpenteria. The cottages are Quaint and adequate accommodati
The property is in a great location but is getting a bit long in the tooth as it needs a face lift and improved amenities that are updated and m ore contemporary. Quaint is a good term but for the price one expects a cleaner better appointed space where everything works. Many appliances and bath facilities do not function well and the property could use TLC and better cleanliness.
We are always welcome to feedback on the Cottages as we are continually looking for ways to improve our guests’ experiences. We appreciate this review, but have to disagree with many of the points. Having gone through the home after these guests’ stay, we can assure future travelers that there are no appliances, bath facilities or other maintenance issues in the home that are in need of repair. As you can see from our numerous prior 5 star reviews, we have had groups who were thrilled with the property and our service. We are always available if a guest has an issue with the home, and pride ourselves in immediate response. It is so surprising and disappointing to receive this kind of feedback when these guests never communicated at all with us during their stay. We are also confident that when it comes to a property with multiple homes that sleep 16 with tremendous privacy, expansive lawn and parking for many vehicles just a short drive to Santa Barbara, the price for the Cottages is the lowest in the area. The Cottages are in high demand and booked out well through next year simply because there is no comparable property at this price. We are sad that these guests were not totally satisfied, and we wish that we had been given the chance.
Perfect location, great accommodations, and Polo, too!
We enjoyed the use of the Polo Cottages in Carpinteria, CA, for a family get together. The grounds were lovely and the configuration of the 3 living units fit perfectly with the size of each family unit. The gathering around the fire pit and the ample dining table brought us all together for memorable times. It was fun to see the Polo horses being worked and grazing nearby. We were fortunate to be able to view a Sunday match thanks to the efforts of the cottages owner, Barb Botts. The site was suitable for all ages and couldn't be better situated as it is close to beaches, shopping, museums, and dining.
The Wedding Weekend of Our Dreams!
We had our wedding at The Cottages at Polo Run and it was an absolute dream. There are so many wonderful things to say about The Cottages and Barb. Barb is an incredible host and really cares for her guests. She not only responds promptly to all questions but also goes out of her way to make sure her guests are comfortable and cared for. She helped us make the wedding of our dreams become a reality. We were so grateful for Barb and her kindness!
The Cottages are absolutely beautiful and charming. We stayed at The Cottages during our wedding weekend with our siblings. All the wedding events happened at The Cottages - the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and a day after brunch. It was such a gift to be able to not only enjoy our wedding day but a whole wedding weekend with our family and friends. We are still getting compliments on how perfect and magical the wedding was. Everyone loved the venue and it was a perfect place to bring people together. We were able to create an intimate wedding. We DIYed a lot of the decorations so it made everything sentimental. Also, the location of The Cottages is amazing. The city of Carpinteria is beautiful and The Cottages are walking distance to the beach. The polo fields are viewable from the upper deck and front patio. Watching the games were a blast and our guests loved it.
We searched and searched and searched (really we looked at about 100 venues) for the perfect venue around Southern California. We are so happy we found The Cottages and decided on them for our wedding. It was a beyond perfect weekend that brought so many cherished memories with loved ones. We are already planning on having our anniversary at The Cottages. Do yourself a favor and book The Cottages. It is such a gem and will bring memories that will last a lifetime!
Family wedding accommodation
The Cottages were wonderful for our son's wedding in Santa Barbara. It was convenient to all the places we were going in downtown Santa Barbara. There were 11 of us who made use of the 3 cottages. Having separate cottages allowed flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. The kitchen in the main cottage was large enough for all of us to gather and have meals.
We enjoyed playing the games that were available--giant jenga, corn hole and croquet, to name a few. Our 12 year old grandson had never played croquet and wanted to play all the time.
The polo horses were there and we enjoyed watching them from the top deck. They were a big hit.
Barb was easy to work with and very helpful. From checking on us to make sure we got in, answering questions and taking some packages to UPS for us which was closed when we were leaving.
All of my family said they really enjoyed staying at the cottages.
