The view is incredible and the room is perfect. Clean and fully stocked. Couldn’t have wished for more.
This is a lovely condo, well equipped and comfortable....only wish we had stayed an extra day!
Great location and view, property is dated
Our1st time to Hana, we really enjoyed the drive and scenery is spectacular. This specific property needs to be updated, but was great for a night. Would not vacation here.
Aloha and thank you for your review. Hana itself attracts a certain type of traveller. Guests who prefer the major reset experience may not enjoy Hana as much as others. Hana Kai is a condominium property although we operate more like a hotel allowing overnight stays where most condos do not. We are a conveniently located fully staffed property in an amazing location with incredible views, great staff and accommodations with full kitchens. Hana is a great place to unplug, relax and unwind and Hana Kai offers a great place to stay while enjoying what the Hana area has to offer.
Quiet and relaxing
Our group rented several units in this complex. This unit does not have AC (most don't in Hana) but there are fans in every room and the unit is set up so you can have a great cross breeze. The bedroom overlooks the parking lot, while the living room and balcony have a view of the water and the rest of the property. This unit is closest to the road (furthest from the water) but because it is situated on a hill, you can still see the water over the tops of the lower buildings. The second bed in the living room is a futon that has been opened up. It looked like it was the size of a double bed. The kitchen is small, but has pretty much everything you need. Have fun!
Good for an overnight stop in Hana
We loved our morning breakfast with a lovely view. Bath products were wonderful!. This is a quiet property. The unit is clean, updated, and kitchen supplies stocked, but the night on the futon was the worst sleep of my entire trip. Friends said the bed was comfortable. This unit is good for 2 people max, unless the futon has been replaced. I do not recommend the beach out back. Seek out other beaches for a stroll.
After a day of driving the road to Hana, we cooked dinner, and relaxed on the porch that over looked the ocean. Outdoor gas grill made cooling quick and easy. Apartment contained a few cooking essentials such as aluminun foil, cooking oil spray, salt and pepper. Enjoyed playing a few games stored in apartment before going to sleep. Doors and windows on both sides of apartment and ceiling fans provided a cool breeze. Note there is no a.c. Impressed that building contains a back up generator. An overnight storm caused a major power outage, but happily we still had electricity.
Driving to Hana Kai Maui: 1.Head east from the airport on Hana Highway through Paia. 2. Follow the Hana Highway until you reach Hana. This will take approximately 2 hours from the airport if you don’t stop along the way. 3.As you enter Hana the Hana Highway has a fork in the road. Keep left at that fork and the Hana Highway will become Uakea Road. 4.Proceed one half mile down Uakea Road and Hana Kai will be on your left. 5.Our address is 4865 Uakea Road, Hana HI, 96713. 6.When you enter the parking lot proceed to the right and down to the lower parking lot for the reservation office. After-hours check-in is in the same area and you will see directional signs. Groceries: There are 2 small convenience stores in Hana that carry all the basics and more. There are several fruit stands along the Hana Highway and in Hana selling organically grown fruits, produce and some prepared foods such as banana bread and preserves. Local fishermen sometimes sell their deep-sea catch along the roadside at reasonable prices (they will fillet them for you). Emergency & Medical services: These are available through Hana Health Center located 1/2 mile from Hana Kai, open daily Mon-Fri. Emergency Ambulatory, Fire, Rescue and Police are also available 24/7. Weather: Hana is located in one of the last pristine rainforests in Hawaii and it takes a bit of rain to keep it so lush and green. We sometimes experience passing showers (blessings) and some days are more blessed than others…a light rain poncho or a small umbrella may come in handy. Enjoy the beautiful waterfalls on the Hana Highway, but approach them with caution and heed any posted warning signs as flash flooding can occur especially after high rainfall on the mountain. Activities: Our reservation staff will be happy to assist you with the many activities and attractions around Hana including: Horseback riding, nature hiking, beaches, massage, dining, touring Hana’s Cultural Center or Kahanu Gardens where the islands’ largest heiau (temple) has been restored to its original magnificence.
