About the property

One Beroom & One Bath across from Hana Bay

Aloha & Welcome,

The Fisher's Hana Hale is located across the street from Hana Bay and Waikoloa Beach. We are a licensed vacation rental STHA# 2017/0002. Our guests enjoy the privacy of their own home with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. Our home is located within walking distance of Hana Bay and Travaasa Hotel. Just a short distance down the road is Waianapanapa State Park, Koki and Hamoa beaches and the famous Piilani Heiau at Kahanu Gardens. The Upstairs features one bedroom and one bathroom, full kitchen, living area, screened in lanai with ping pong, wireless Internet and basic cable TV. For larger parties you can add the downstairs for extra space (please see rates). The downstairs has one bedroom and one bathroom, living room area and a screened in lanai. Remember Hana is a a rural tropical rainforest so there are insects and rain. We wish we could control both of them but we can't. But those are the things that make Hana so unique and beautiful. We allow one rental group at a time and have a maximum occupancy of 4 people. If you have a larger party please let us know as our neighboring vacation rentals may have space to accommodate. Come enjoy Hana!

About Tobi Fisher

My husband and I were both raised on Maui, we live in Upcountry Kula, Maui where both sided of our entire extended family also reside. We have three wonderful children and one grandson. We have always had a special place in our heart for Hana where we spent our younger years fishing, paddling and diving with close friends and family. When the chance arose to own our own home in Hana we jumped at it because we knew this is the place where we wanted to enjoy our family and vacation time with friends.

Tobi Fisher purchased this house in 2012

Why Tobi Fisher chose East Maui

We loved the in-town proximity you can walk to everything. Hana Bay and Waikoloa Beach are right across the street and the stores, restaurants and park are all within a few steps. Not to mention the beautiful Travaasa Hotel which we enjoy having drinks at on special occasions and the great swimming and snorkeling at Hamoa Beach.

What makes this house unique

We do only allow (2) vehicles on property and there is no street parking. We have a great ping pong table, screened in lanais and beach stuff. You can walk everywhere and hear the ocean waves across the street. Hana is located in a beautiful tropical rainforest so there are insects. There are mosquitoes, lizards and your occasional spider. We like the lizards (geckos) because they eat the mosquitoes and the mosquitoes and spiders come with the territory. We provide repellent and citronella candles and torches and these help but please remember to keep all screens shut.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you Tobi for allowing us to stay at your beautiful vacation home in Hana. The arrangements all went so smoothly and we easily found it with your directions. It is a lovely, clean, great location and very well equipped. It was perfect for our excursion to Hana. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality.

Comfortable, well stocked, nice

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in both the upstairs Nd the downstairs . The downstairs a little cramped for four but loved the screened in veranda. Upstairs much more spacious. Loved the floors, and bedroom, and how well stocked it was. Great to have beach chairs and boogie board available.

Very clean and comfortable stay in Hana.

Very clean and comfortable stay in Hana. Charming town, many interesting beaches, sights and friendly folks. Great place to explore Kipahulu and continue on towards southwest. Beautiful vegetation, nighttime rain, hardly any bugs when we were here.

Hana Retreat in Older Home Good with Minor Exceptions

  • 3 of 5

This older home was comfortable and roomy. It appears that it can accommodate as many as six people, if everyone can share the one small bathroom.

It is in a good location to get to Hana Bay Beach in a couple of minutes (the beach across the road is useless except for the sounds of the pounding waves. It is black and very rocky with strong currents.) Stores and restaurants are close, too.

The grounds are beautiful with flowers, lime and banana trees, and lots of birds. The housekeeper chopped down some bananas and gave us some, along with limes.

The kitchen is large and fairly well-equipped. Note: There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal, if these things are important to you. It needs some things, like more flatware. There are only 4 forks. There are lots of tall glasses and wine glasses, but it could use some shorter glasses, not plastic ones, for juice and drinks like Scotch.

The house was clean, although the living room furniture could use a cleaning.

The small living room could use a table to put drinks on.

The hardwood floors (bamboo) looked newer and were gorgeous.

We loved the desk area - spacious to set up our computers and work on planning activities. The WIFI worked well, even during heavy rain storms, as did the stereo equipment. There is a CD player, but only one CD. So you would have to bring your own. The TV stations were adequate.

It rained for two days and had the coldest day on record. And, of course, we could not figure out how to close the windows. When it was cloudy, the house to me was very dark except for the desk area. I could not find any more blankets. We just layered up and put towels over with us.

It was nice to have the beach equipment - umbrella, chairs, etc. We had brought our own snorkeling gear.

We found the narrow "deck" difficult to use. My husband is 5'9" and barely could sit down on a small chair that we took out. Taller people would have to sit sideways.

The road in front of the house could be quite busy and noisy at times with loud trucks, motorcycles, and people blaring car radios. People drive much faster than the posted speed limit, so I did not feel comfortable walking along it.

It would be helpful to know what to do with the recyclables. We found a bin next to the washer and drier and put things in there, but did not know what is acceptable to recycle there.

All-in-all, a good visit.

We really liked this place ! It was very comfy, but the giant cockroaches in the bedroom kinda ruined my last nights sleep.

Quiet place - wish I could have stayed longer

  • 5 of 5

Nice well equipped house, just a block or two away from center of Hana. That said it is very quiet in Hana! Everything closes at 5pm! The upstairs unit was well equipped with a ping pong table, kitchen, etc. There is no A/C so we used a fan. Lots of screens to keep the bugs out but some inevitably make their way into the house. We only stayed one night so we did not enjoy the house for too long. But for those making the long drive from Lahaina I do recommend staying a night in Hana and taking a more relaxing pace
