Aloha & Welcome,
The Fisher's Hana Hale is located across the street from Hana Bay and Waikoloa Beach. We are a licensed vacation rental STHA# 2015/0002. Our guests enjoy the privacy of their own home with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. Our home is located within walking distance of Hana Bay and Travaasa Hotel. Just a short distance down the road is Waianapanapa State Park, Koki and Hamoa beaches and the famous Piilani Heiau at Kahanu Gardens. The Upstairs features one bedroom and one bathroom, full kitchen, living area, screened in lanai with ping pong, wireless Internet and basic cable TV. For larger parties you can add the downstairs for extra space (please see rates). The downstairs has one bedroom and one bathroom, living room area and a screened in lanai. Remember Hana is a a rural tropical rainforest so there are insects and rain. We wish we could control both of them but we can't. But those are the things that make Hana so unique and beautiful. We allow one rental group at a time and have a maximum occupancy of 4 people. If you have a larger party please let us know as our neighboring vacation rentals may have space to accommodate. Come enjoy Hana!
My husband and I were both raised on Maui, we live in Upcountry Kula, Maui where both sided of our entire extended family also reside. We have three wonderful children and one grandson. We have always had a special place in our heart for Hana where we spent our younger years fishing, paddling and diving with close friends and family. When the chance arose to own our own home in Hana we jumped at it because we knew this is the place where we wanted to enjoy our family and vacation time with friends.
Tobi Fisher purchased this house in 2012
We loved the in-town proximity you can walk to everything. Hana Bay and Waikoloa Beach are right across the street and the stores, restaurants and park are all within a few steps. Not to mention the beautiful Travaasa Hotel which we enjoy having drinks at on special occasions and the great swimming and snorkeling at Hamoa Beach.
We do only allow (2) vehicles on property and there is no street parking. We have a great ping pong table, screened in lanais and beach stuff. You can walk everywhere and hear the ocean waves across the street. Hana is located in a beautiful tropical rainforest so there are insects. There are mosquitoes, lizards and your occasional spider. We like the lizards (geckos) because they eat the mosquitoes and the mosquitoes and spiders come with the territory. We provide repellent and citronella candles and torches and these help but please remember to keep all screens shut.
Thank you Tobi for allowing us to stay at your beautiful vacation home in Hana. The arrangements all went so smoothly and we easily found it with your directions. It is a lovely, clean, great location and very well equipped. It was perfect for our excursion to Hana. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality.
We really enjoyed our stay at Fisher's Hana Hale. The home is clean, inviting, well appointed and very comfortable! The location is also very convenient and the ping pong table is a fun bonus! We were only in Hana for one night, however; we will definitely consider booking a longer stay at this home at some point in the future. It was the perfect place to stop after a day of exploring the sights along the way to Hana. Thank you Tobi!
We stayed in the upstairs unit just for one night during our visit to Hana. The house is not new, but it is clean, spacious and well maintained. There is a screened-off veranda with ping-pong table. Internet is shockingly fast at 50+ Mbps. Because Hana is situated in tropical forest, there are some issues with tiny unwanted visitors. Screens keep mosquitoes away pretty good. We found that sugar was kept away in the freezer (!), and soon figured out why - after we left some crumbs on kitchen countertop, tiny ants were quick to find them, and swarmed all over these crumbs. We also were visited by one spider, but that was a pretty big one. Aside from those nuisances, our stay was perfect.
Keep in mind also that Hana is away from civilization, so it's better to pack food and anything you need before your go. The famed Hasegava general store actually has limited selection and high prices.
We spent 6 nights (upstairs) at the Fisher's Hale & overall really enjoyed our stay. Tobi was wonderful, easy to communicate with & even called to make sure we were okay when a tropical storm was supposed to hit our side of the island, offering to give us a refund if we didn't feel safe or comfortable staying in Hana during the storm (we stayed & luckily the storm didn't amount to much).
We spent most of our time in the kitchen & dining room because it was incredibly hot & humid when we were there - it was so hot that we basically sat in front of the fan all evening! Thank goodness there were 2 fans - 1 in the dining area & 1 in the bedroom.
The bed was very comfy & had nice & clean, crisp cotton linens on it (the fan in the bedroom could use some cleaning/servicing as it didn't rotate & no adjustable fan speed). With the fan on & windows open, the bedroom cooled down at night. We enjoyed how close we were to the "jungle" (at least it felt that way with all the trees, even though there are other houses nearby) & loved hearing the trees rustling at night & the rain falling on the trees & roof.
We brought all our groceries with us from Kahului & made nearly all our meals at the house. We used the kitchen stove & the barbeque without any issues. The bathroom was functional & the shower worked well, as did the washer & dryer. The lanai with the ping pong table was fun in the evening & a bit cooler than the house (more ping pong balls & new paddles please!). There were some flying beetles that collected on the dining room ceiling in the evenings (around the lights), but as Tobi says in the overview - this is the rain forest, you have to expect there will be some bugs & they didn't bother us. We got lots of use out of the beach chairs.
It was comfortable having the whole upstairs of the house to ourselves & it is in a great location - right on the road to Hana, on the edge of town, but traffic noise wasn't an issue in the evenings as everyone blasts back to the other side of the island by late afternoon. It was a relatively easy walk across the road to a rocky beach (good for walking along).
Thanks for making this an enjoyable place to stay, we would definitely stay here again if we were back in Hana.
What a relaxing property. I wish we had time to stay longer. (next time) All the amenities anyone could want...comfy sitting area in the living room and comfy bed for sleeping. It was the first time I've slept without air conditioning in a very very long time...and I had the best night sleep ever.
The only complaint we have is how dark the bathroom is. Some brighter bulbs would help a lot. And maybe a lighter color shower curtain so it will be brighter in the shower.
Other than that.....its PERFECT!!!
Beautiful house, well-taken care of, and well-stocked. The upstairs/downstairs layout (two different apartments) was perfect for our needs. Everything we needed was available, and this was a perfect home-base to explore Hana from. The road out is scenic only for the passengers - for the driver it's brutal - so I'm really glad we stayed on the East coast of Maui for a few days instead of trying to visit as a one day turn-around.
We spent 3 nights in Hana and this place was a nice stay. The owner Tobi was very easy to communicate and she was very nice and helpful during our stay in Hana. Thank you.
