The 35 acre property is a mixture of Aspen and Ponderosa pine trees, with the house sited on an 5 acre open meadow that allows a wide view of the San Juan mountain range. It is amazing to walk through the trees, or just sit on the patio and enjoy the view. You can enjoy the fall colors from the patio, and wildflowers are found within a short walk through the woods in spring and summer. On a clear night, you will see the Milky Way, and an abundance of stars and satellites from the patio. At times a variety of wildlife including elk, deer, coyotes, chipmunks and birds will wander into the landscape. There is NO hunting allowed on this property.
Just walking around the roads in the subdivision is beautiful, but you can bike, walk, xc ski from the patio of the house. Access to National Forest hiking trails is just a short drive away. It is approximately a 2 mile walk to where the first True Grit movie was filmed. The Famous Last Dollar Ranch is close by, and our house is truly convenient to many of the highlights of Southwest Colorado such as jeeping, hot springs, Gateway Auto Museum, Mesa Verde, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison to name a few.
The house is centrally located for easy access to Last Dollar Road – approximately halfway between Ouray and Telluride. Easy 16 mile drive to Ridgway and a 23 mile drive to Telluride. Distance to both Montrose Airport and Telluride airports is approximately 40 miles.
