From the moment you walk in the door of this romantic property - and take in its nearly entire back walls of glass fronting on the breathtaking blue pool, mountains and lush landscaping - you will know you have found a special oasis. Total privacy of the large, walled-in backyard of bougainvillea, tall grasses, and grapefruit-laden trees begs for skinny dipping in the 40 foot by 20 foot swimmer’s pool and jacuzzi spa - all while taking in the spectacular mountains surrounding this Canyon Country Club location. It is a tranquil paradise with no other houses in sight -- but still just a two block walk to the best grocery in town, as well as restaurants, PO, hiking trails, tennis and of course, golf. Unlike many other desert rentals, the pool/jacuzzi and backyard are huge -- with outdoor living and dining rooms and plenty of chaise lounges for sunning. Bring your IPOD to hook up to the whole house/poolside stereo system. And chefs will adore the gourmet kitchen with top appliances, granite countertops and islands for the crew to hang out, plus everything you need from Cuisinart and blenders to nice dishware, martini,wine and champagne glasses, and everything else you might need.

It's not only an exquisite place, it's fun - with lots of extras, from rafts, dvds, games spices and lots more provided gratis.

This vacation home features three bedrooms (Master has one king and one single; Guest Rm 1 has one queen; Guest Rm 2 has two full (double beds sleeping 2 each; plus a day bed in living area, two queen air mattresses w/feather tops, 3 single futons). Two and a half baths, plus office - all with panoramic mountain or pool/lush garden views, plus for those who cannot tear themselves away from work, an office with free DSL/wifi, answering machine and wireless access and free, unlimited domestic phone calls.

But it has much larger living and outdoor areas than most other homes, particularly Alexanders, that might have more bedrooms. At nearly 3000 square foot, the house has soaring ceilings and is flooded with natural light. It provides plenty of space and furnishings for relaxing together with friends/family or getting away by oneself to read a book - outside in the double-hammock or any of 10 sun loungers around the pool, or while sipping wine and relaxing on the covered outdoor living room with cushioned couch, chairs and lamps.

Or repair to the living room inside and stretch out on the comfy L-shaped couch to watch football, cable/HBO or a DVD/VCR movie on the 42 inch HDTV plasma wall-mounted television while the (gas) fire roars or on the 42 inch' Projection TV/DVD/VCR in the Master Bedroom, and tvs in guest rooms.

The contemporary, 1974 house was entirely refurbished in 2003 by Los Angeles designer Daniel J. Ricketts for his own use and is accented by Asian antiques, artwork and rugs collected by the owner from her travels as a foreign correspondent throughout the world.

Every detail has been thought of in this dreamy getaway. In the gourmet kitchen - a cook/entertainer's delight - one can stir the risotto in the Calphalon pots on the five-burner Thermador stovetop, bake in the double ovens, keep dishes warm in the warming tray, then tuck them away in the ultra-quiet Bosch dishwasher all while never losing site of the magical backyard views. Groceries load easily into the huge Subzero refrigerator, minimizing trips to the food store. Friends or family can perch on the stools surrounding the cook’s island while the chef does his or her thing, using spices and other condiments the owner stocks for guest use.

Move to the adjacent wet-bar - with its wine cooler and refrigerator - for martinis or margaritas and then into the glassed dining room with ample room for eight at the table, gazing out at the stunning evening stars and the illuminated pool. Or cook outdoors on the large built-in gas grill and dine al fresco - poolside - at the outside table for eight. Or dispense with the cooking and drive five minutes to dozens of restaurants in downtown Palm Springs.

Stereo music/radio/CDs AND IPODs can be piped throughout the house and pool area’s Polk Audio and Niles speakers (so bring your favorite CDs & your Ipod, which easily hooks up). Each of the three bedrooms has its own cable-connected television, two with DVDS and the MBR a huge projection theater system. Glass doors on the huge master suite open onto the pool/mountain views. The beautiful beige Portuguese limestone that lines the floors throughout the house also covers the sumptuous master bath that features a sunken tub with an adjoining private garden and steam shower along with a granite-topped double-vanity.

Down duvets and pillows (hypo-allergenic bedding also available) and 400-thread count sheets top the king bed in this room and the queen bed in each of the other two bedrooms that feature mountain views and share an elegant bath with double sinks, granite countertops, and limestone tiled bath/shower.
