We really enjoyed our stay at Le Studio for our 15th anniversary! It was very cozy and relaxing (perfect for two), and just what we were looking for in a weekend getaway. The view of Useless Bay from the deck was very serene, and we enjoyed dinner out at nearby Gordon's the first night of our stay, and Joe's Wood-Fired Pizza (just down the road) the second night. The flax muffins were delicious and it was nice to have a little something to nibble on in the morning so we didn't have to go out until we felt like it. Joy was fantastic right from the beginning, and responded right away to our questions. We hope to stay there again soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Our whole family (14 of us from four generations) stayed at Sunlight SeaScape for an extended wedding weekend last summer. This is a gorgeous house on beautiful grounds, with delightful interior and exterior design. The arrangement of rooms, with separate areas all connected by decks and one roof, worked so well to give privacy for each of the couples. The large gathering room, with kitchen, dining, and living area, also had a sunny nook for putting together puzzles. There were even toys for the small ones, who also enjoyed exploring the beautiful grounds and secret gardens as well as sleeping in the bunk room with their cousins. Great-Grandma found everything she needed on one level, with only one or two steps down from the parking area. There was even accommodation for the family dog. Breakfast was delicious too. The owner, Joy, could not have been more helpful in making our visit perfect--and it was!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I cannot say enough about this beautiful guesthouse. The view was truly amazing and the comfort and thoughtfulness of each space was beyond compare. This is a perfect place for a solo retreat, a romantic getaway or a family gathering. Joy, the owner, has a true gift for creating meaningful space that feels like yours while you are there. I simply cannot wait to return. My solo trip was the highlight of my summer.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I just celebrated our 8th anniversary here this past weekend. We were very excited to stay here. However, when we got there, the door handle was broken....and almost falling off. Joy said that it was just loose. Our "views" of Useless Bay were really Peak-A-Boo Views because the garden was so overgrown. You could barley walk on the sidewalk because the garden was so overgrown. In the room the paint was horrible done. There were no outlets in the Bathroom so I had to blow dry my hair in the kitchen. To top it off, the book that she had in the room said that we would have all sorts of food available (fruit, jams, butter, and so on) and it was not there. When we called to talk to her about all of this she would not budge on helping us out with a discount due to the fact that we now had to go buy food. Oh, and the windows did not have screens on them so any time we tried to open the windows we got attack by bugs! Overall, I think that it was not worth the money. We will NEVER go there again!Owner response: This anniversary couple was disappointed and I am sorry they feel as they do. Before they reserved, I spoke with the young woman, shaping expectations in choosing which apartment wioild best suit their needs. Given the choices, she wanted the most private and affordable, choosing the downstairs with more garden view, three peekaboos of beach, bay and mountains. The apartment was clean, quiet and private with a complimentary first morning breakfast, robes, screens, outlet in the bathroom (required in new construction), lush herbal garden for scented paths, pearl glazed ceilings and a loose door handle, easily remedied, no bugs. When the young man phoned, he said he would prefer a discount rather than the butter and jams mentioned in our notebook. We provide an early, first morning light, healthy breakfast and are happy to bring in catered hot meals as requested. Because of our kitchens, most guests of our guests prefer to bring their own food items or dine out. We post all breakfast options on website.

My husband and i have gone again to this wonderful oasis, for the third year in a row at roughly the same time of year (March-April). We rode the bus this time (free); the bus stop is a mere mile walk from the studio and right by the great Goose Market. (One can also take the bus from the ferry). We went off to Langley for the day by bus, and the next day (by car) to Fort Casey, both great places to visit with incredible vistas of various bays around the island. There were some 10 eagles flying around Useless Bay, herons as well, and the weather was almost perfect. As always, Joy, the owner, was her lovely self. Will try to come again next year!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

About the owner: I am a retired high school level French teacher, loving travel and the beauty of the gardens and architecture of Europe. I began designing beautiful gardens and simple, exquisite interior spaces to connect with their natural settings. This property inspires me each morning as I breathe the clean, fresh air and experience the abundant beauty of mountains, sky, ocean and activity on the beach. Pastures and forests are our land constant while dragonflies and hummingbirds soar. Sometimes a baby otter will bob its head in Useless Bay as ships pass in the straits. Sunsets in the big sky complete amazing days in all seasons. As I grew up and become a nature lover, I will always love sharing Sunlight SeaScape on Whidbey, the beautiful northwest getaway I get to get away to and call home.
