We had a wonderful time here. The pics do it no justice. Fantastic view, great location and a very clean home. The owners are very kind and responsive. We will be back!
Wonderful, great views, great house
We loved the Bells Beach house - from the rooms, beds, kitchen, fireplace, and the beach/view -
all were exactly what we needed, and Eric our host was terrific and generous. Thank you!
Beautiful waterside/beach side houise
This is a lovely house right on the beach. Well appointed furnishings. Modern and well furnished kitchen. Great fireplace. Stunning views of the water. Very peaceful.
Fabulous home with EVERYTHING we needed, perfect for our yearly gathering!
Property beautiful, with very nice linens, towels, etc. Nice, modern appliances and everything else we needed in the kitchen. Even though the weather was kind of crummy, we had a GREAT time! Shopping and other fun in Langley and Coupeville. Watched a movie on the video equipment. The labels for the light switches were very useful and humorous. I especially liked the "antlers" one, telling us how to turn on the lovely chandelier of moose antlers. Owner very easy to reach and talk to. Owner also sent us useful links for nearby attractions. Thanks for the speedy deposit refund. We have many votes to return next year. Hope you have room for us again!
A perfect vacation in a truly wonderful place
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The photographs do not do this property justice. The house is spacious and bright and lovingly decorated with tasteful art and antique furniture pieces (while being modern in any aspect that matters such as bathrooms, kitchen, laundry etc). The two decks and the large windows allow breathtaking views of Mount Baker, the Cascade Range, Camano Island and the water. Every afternoon, seals came to play in front of the house, much to the delight of our children.
Our families love to cook – the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor grill came in handy. You have a view of the water and the mountains while washing dishes! The bedrooms provided plenty of space and privacy for our two families (4 adults, 4 children ages 2, 4, 7, and 10). As our two-year-old is fearless, we appreciated how well secured the upstairs and staircases were with a sturdy banister.
And the beach! Low tide reveals a large sandbank that reaches far out into the sound, allowing for endless hours of playing with sand dollars, shells, sand castles, and the friendly neighborhood dogs. It is probably due to the large tide effect at Bells Beach that the general boat traffic is far removed from the house, reducing the boat noise that we have found bothersome in other locations along this Whidbey coastline.
High tide allows for great swimming and boating. Because the bay is shallow, the water was pretty warm; our older children never really left the water during our stay. I took a long swim every day, feeling safe because the boat traffic is so far off. As for boating, our very friendly and helpful host provided us with a great list of Island activities, among them the contact info for a nearby kayak rental (they deliver!). We used the high tide for kayaking along the beach and for setting our crab traps. There is nothing better when eating fresh crab for dinner! There were plenty of crabs of the right size, even so late in the season and with all the many traps around. The friendly neighbors even brought some over on our first evening. The rhythms of the tides with playing and boating kept us so busy that we never set out for a long beach walk, but this is certainly possible during low tide.
The place is close both to the ferry and the lovely town of Langley. In short, a perfect vacation in a truly wonderful place. We hope to be back for Labor Day 2018.
FABULOUS beach house in Langley!!!
This beach house is truly the complete package. The home is beautiful, clean, comfortable, and well laid out. The kitchen is fully stocked with every kind of quality cooking tool one could need and has plenty of room for several people to work in at once (which was good for our family because that's where everyone loves to be!) We loved the open great room and wonderful fireplace that allowed everyone to hang out together without being piled on top of each other. The two decks provided the same opportunity outdoors, and we made good use of them, as well. The bedrooms are spacious and gave everyone a lovely, comfortable space of their own. It's impossible to tire of the beautiful scenery, from indoors or out. Long periods of low tide allowed for many hours of play for the little ones and beautiful stretches of beach to walk and explore. The area is quiet and peaceful, and the few people we ran into were very friendly. One neighbor even cut us a gorgeous dahlia bouquet from her garden to enjoy!
The owners likewise were welcoming and very responsive to communications, although the house is so well appointed that along with the simple and clear written instructions provided, there is really nothing to do but show up and have a good time!
Langley is a charming town, and we usually enjoy spending a little time in the shops and restaurants when we visit, and did manage a trip to our favorite, the Star Store. Outside of that, it was just too hard finding anyone who wanted to leave the house or beach, so we saw very little of it or any of Whidbey's other attractions this time. That was a good problem :)
We chose this house for our yearly family gathering; a 50 plus year tradition for us. We had four generations together here and it accommodated everybody quite comfortably. My dad grew up in a similar setting on Vashon Island and this house brought back a flood of good memories for him; we all loved it but I think he might have loved it just a bit more. It's not often there is a unanimous vote to return to the same place the following year, but this is truly a special place and it did get that vote. Many thanks to Eric and Veronika for sharing it - we hope to be back!
Nearby is the town of Langley which is rich in history and has many activities such as a historic movie theater, antique shops, cafes, restaurants, and artist studios. The fairgrounds are within walking distance of downtown and many events are scheduled year round. Local winery is located approx 15 minutes away with tours and tasting.
