So step back in time and enjoy your next summer vacation in Thousand Island Park, an old Victorian community where children are free to roam and dream; where teenagers gather round an open firepit to sing folksongs and gaze at the Milky Way; where parents stroll to the old-fashioned ice cream parlor for an after-dinner treat; where aging boomers relax on waterfront benches to watch the ebb and flow of the St. Lawrence River.
Located at the western end of Wellesley Island where the 1000 Islands International Bridge connects the United States with Canada, Thousand Islands Park is a short drive from the bustling modern cities of Kingston or Ottawa, Canada, or the nightclubs and tourist attractions of Alexandria Bay and Clayton, New York.
This charming Victorian, close to the Tabernacle, Ice Cream Parlor, Hotel, Playground, and Tennis and Basketball Courts, features four large bedrooms (a double bed with full bath on lst floor; a double bed between two doors to upper porch on 2nd floor; a double bed and twin bed bunk in huge bedroom 2nd floor; and lovely room with one single bed on 2nd floor) two full baths, one on first floor; one on second. Eat around a large dining room table, park kids at an old-fashioned table in the kitchen, or enjoy the large side yard with grill and picnic table.
Rockers on the large front porch offer relaxing views of Thousand Island Park, while the second story porch off the master bedroom is perfect for an afternoon of quiet reading.

Thousand Islands Park is a magical place and we love this house. We greatly enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, the porches that are delightful for reading and watching people and dogs go by, and the convenient setting. Close to the Guzzle (the ice cream parlor - try the milkshakes), grocery store, playground, library, and movies. We can't wait to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We all love your cottage and look forward to the next year, from the moment we have to leave it! I have vacationed on the river since I was a child, and I am so happy to be able to share it with both my children, and my grandchildren, from year to year. My father originally drove me through the Thousand Island Park when I was about five. I remember I told him that I would retire there some day! I am so happy that my children, and my grandchildren have come to love the park and the river, the same way that I do. I thank you again for sharing your lovely cottage with us from year to year! We are making so many wonderful memories, and your cottage is central to them all. I hope my grandchildren will always look back on them with great happiness; it is so much fun to be there with them. We certainly appreciate all that you do to make the cottage cozy and so relaxing!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1994
About the owner: Al and Margaret Crenshaw vacationing in hot Florence and eager to return to their wonderful house on the cool, St. Lawrence River.
Why the Owner Chose Thousand Island Park:
We live in Washington, DC, where it gets VERY hot in the summer. We wanted a vacation home where the summers are cool, but still warm enough for swimming and boating. Al doesn't like the beach with all the sand and crowds, so finding The River seemed like a miracle. Thousand Island Park is a community where we've made great friends and have enjoyed all the Park's activities. Friends ask, 'Why do you drive so far and what do you do up there?' We answer, 'It's paradise.'
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Sitting on the upper porch and reading is Al's favorite place in the world. Margaret's is rocking on the front porch with neighbors and friends, just sharing, chatting, and enjoying life. Gentle rain on warm evenings with all the doors open and the breeze blowing through the cottage is the best way to fall asleep, anywhere.
