Great property! We had 10 adults and one infant, and never felt crowded. Lots of space for everyone. The deck and hot tub got tons of use. The house was clean, well supplied, and in a nice quiet area. I will definitely come back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We have a good size group of friends that travels regularly for ski vacations. This place was perfect for our group and the ski resorts in the area. It was big enough to fit 12 adults comfortably and still cozy for sitting around the fireplace. This will definitely be our go-to rental for our ski trips around Silverthorne.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

From booking the property with Katherine to leaving the house, the entire experience was completely no hassel and no worries! The pictures do not do this house justice! It is spacious, bright, clean, and warm. The owners were extremely accomdating of our group, and we had a great time. My fiance proposed on the first day of our stay and we were able to celebrate with friends from Denver later the same evening. Our stay at Iron Creek Lodge was truly an unforgettable experience with a magical setting! I will be recommending this home to friends for years to come! LeslieDid you find this review helpful? This home was nice and in a good central location for our winter adventures. Heat was tempermental...we had difficult time maintaining a comfortable temperature. AND the 5th bedroom is truly a large (semi private) loft. I felt this was misleading. Without a door, sounds from downstairs den and kitchen wafted into this space making sleeping difficult.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Mike, Thank you very much for your review. We are very sorry you had a problem with the heat - it is a hotwater based heating system which provides a more comfortable (less arid) warmth than a forced-air, gas-fired furnace but we have noticed it is slower to cool down if turned up too high. We will definitely do what we can to address that issue immediately and inform future guests. Also, we will make sure to let people know that the upstairs bedroom is an open, vaulted floorplan and perhaps best for the heavier sleepers. My husband and I consider it the master bedroom because it has its own bathroom, reading nook an tv den in the loft. We always sleep up there because of the wonderful views and spaciousness but understand that guests should be informed that it is not a conventional bedroom with a door to shut it off from the rest of the home below. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback!

We brought a large group of 15 in Feb '11 and had a wonderful time. It was a bit small for such a large group because the living room and kitchen are all in one small space. This meant we had to be creative with eating time. The garage is huge and would be a great asset during the summer for kids. Only problem is the garage doors were not that tall so we could only fit one of the vehicles inside and it took some creativity just to get it in with the snow on the ground. Hot tub was great for the group but getting to it was a little difficult in the snow since we couldn't find a shovel. It was definitely a highlight for a lot of our group. Everything was very clean and the owners were wonderful to work with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

What a blessing to have discovered your home away from home on a random search through the web! I don't even remember where I found it. It was a perfect place for us to take our large family. The amenities were just what we needed. Kailey (2 1/2) was kept entertained for hours with all the great little people toys; and the bedroom with crib was perfect for her parents who also have a 6 month old. Their two boys (10 and 8) plus our granddaughter (12) and her brother (8), used the bunk bed set up. The twin set up was great for our single son & 20 yr old grandson. The other two couples flipped for who got the sofa bed upstairs and who got the bed. We got the bedroom on the main floor since we're the ones first up for coffee. The snow on Saturday was icing on the cake for all. Even the ski die-hards enjoyed playing in it in the afternoon and got a pretty decent snowman built. AND to top it off, our Texans won their play-off game on Saturday afternoon. For a bunch of fans, who could ask for anything better - a team who won while we watched a beautiful snowfall. My husband has cancer which has been in remission for over 9 years but which has reared its ugly head again, so this opportunity to experience all these new things with our grandchildren (plane, ski, snow) while he still feels healthy was truly a gift. Our 50th anniversary is later this month as well as my 70th birthday. We don't know at this point what kind of treatment he'll be facing or its effects on his quality of life, which makes all of this even more sweet! Again, we feel blessed! You have done an A+ job of maintaining a personal property that is available for folks like us to share. What a wonderful log home! First of all, the owners were absolutely wonderful to work with when our plans had changed within the last month. They are very responsive and helpful. The place is cozy with 2 sleeping areas on each of 3 levels, so the 13 in our party had plenty of private sleeping space. The bunk room also had a small trundle bed that was abosolutely perfect for our 6 yr old. The toy room (as part of the bunk room) and closet full of games was a nice treat. My favorite was the spacious deck with the large picnic table. There was no TV on the main floor, which for us was perfect. TV noise was contained in the loft area (or in the lower level bedroom - that also had 2 recliners!). The kitchen was even stocked with all kinds of spices! Travel to the home was paved all the way except for the last 1/2 mile. Being on a gravel road gave it more of a rural feel (a big positive). The neighborhood was quiet. The Lily Pad trailhead is only 2 miles away. There is an amazing view of the Silverthorne/Dillon valley within a 5 minute walk of the house. Parking is allowed in the 2-car garage. That was a bonus. All communication/info you needed was in a binder inside the house. And lastly, I was impressed with the turnaround on the damage deposit. We had it back within 2-3 weeks. Again, they were super people to work with!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My partner and I stayed at this wonderful log house in May of 2010 and loved every minute and will definitely be back as many times as we can. What a wonderful experience it was to arrive at this bright and airy log home to see that their was firewood waiting right next to the wood stove (with a note that there was plenty more in the garage) waiting for us to set the scene, which we immediately did! I like to stay in condos, rather than hotels, but one of the things that can be a bother to me is when an owner either doesn't have kitchen utensils (I've even had to buy wine glasses once) or everything is impossible to find. Not the case here. Everything was there and exactly where it should be, so we opened the wine, and I started dinner easily so that we could get out and enjoy the jacuzzi in the light snow that was falling. Smell of a pinion wood fire, wine, dinner in oven, snow and hot bubbly water: Perfect! The house itself is unpretentious, but beautifully appointed, which you can see from the pictures that they have here. It was nice to see that they're accurate and not all doctored up. There's a loft with a big sectional and a big TV with lots of movies and cable, plus a room up there which makes it like a suite. It is set up in such a way that rooms are on three different floors, so I think it would be great to stay with friends, which we plan to do in the future. We thought it was really cool that they even have toys and things for the youngsters, plus there are lots of games and such for the older ones, even though we really only used the main floor and the upstairs section. We hiked the Mesa Cortina Trail, which is a block away! The outlet malls are also five minutes from the house. Lake Dillon: six minutes. Frisco: ten minutes. We weren't sure before we stayed, but were thrilled that it was so centrally located and yet so easy to get to from the airport. This is our place in CO!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
