Why the Owner Chose Boone
The area between Boone and Banner Elk is beautiful. In the summer there is lots to do, hiking, biking, rafting and zip lining. Fall season brings the beautiful autumn colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway. In the winter there is snow tubing, skiing and ice skating. The picture of Andy and I was taken before a hike around Sims Pond.
Owner's Map of Boone
Andy and I live in sunny Florida so we love to spend time in the mountains. We have 3 kids and between high school and college breaks we still manage to spend several long family weekends in the mountains.

What a wonderful time we had at this cabin which was in Sevin Devils. The bigger city is Boone-which was only about 20 minutes away. Literally 5 minutes from everything important (food store, convenient store, bank, activities). The only thing needed for this cabin for others to bring are your clothes!!! I have an infant and the cabin even had things for the baby!! Everything possibly needed for your stay was already thought off! The pictures do not do this place justice-absolutely beautiful. The place was very well stocked and very neat and clean. Well accomodating for a family with children. Would totally recomment this cabin for future stays.....one more thing....maybe Liz and Andy can give us some snow next time.

We had a great time at your very comfortable, roomy, well-stocked house. Sitting in the hot tub on a cold clear night was very nice. Thank you for providing so much information about the area (it's gorgeous), for providing firewood and for not charging a pet fee. I would definitely recommend this property to friends.

I am always nervous when I book a home for vacation. All nerves were not needed here. The Crazy Moose was awesome. Like a previous person stated, it is like a group of Disney people went to work here. The decorations are gorgeous, you will walk in and say "wow". There is more than enough room for a large family to spread out. My kids loved the bottom floor, and playing the games that were there. The hot tub was a hit too, as the evenings were cool. I have never had a kitchen in a rental be so well stocked. We grilled twice, and it was just like being at home. Plenty of pots, pans, dishes, and all those items you take for granted were there. There is a large table that we all sat down at and enjoyed two family dinners together, a rarity in our everyday busy lives. Needless to say, the home was clean and well kept. You can tell this is a home the owners love and use. Liz, the owner, was super friendly and so easy to work with. We were making last minute plans, and she made it so easy. She had lots of helpful ideas and tips for what to do in the area too. We found the location very convenient...about 15 minutes or so to Boone. Very close to Grandfather Mountain, which I highly recommend going to. All in all the Crazy Moose is a wonderful place to stay....it lives up to its pictures, plus some. If we are ever lucky enough to get to return to the Boone area, we will definitely want to stay at the Crazy Moose. Thank you so much, Liz, for sharing your home with our family!

No words can explain how truly amazing this cabin is. It was so easy to feel at home and have a wonderful relaxing vacation. It was easy to find, very clean and the owners were very pleasant. The pictures are great but don't show near the beauty that it truly is!! It wasn't far to restaurants, attractions, and shopping. We hope to spend many more vacations here and we highly recommend it to everyone!!

My family, consisting of 6 people, stayed at the Crazy Moose this past weekend and we had an aboslutely wonderful time! The weather was great but the cabin made the visit all the more enjoyable. The owners do a great job providing you with everything you'll need to feel at home, from toilet tissue to laundry detergent. It's cozy and beautifully decorated. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thanks again!

We stayed at the Crazy Moose in August 2009 for a long weekend. The location and cabin are perfect. Our group consisted of 6 adults, 3 children (ages 1, 4, & 7), and a big dog... and there was plenty of room for more. This is a perfect place for families with children. The deck off the main level is amazing! It is covered so you can still enjoy the outdoors when it's raining and there is no access off this deck to the backyard, so it's perfect for keeping an eye out on the little ones. It also has plenty of outdoor seating, a picnic table, and gas grill. The lower deck has a great hot tub and has access to the back. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you need. The beds were very comfortable, all the decor was great, and the cabin is extremely clean. We will definitely stay here on our next trip. The owner is extremely pleasant to work with and they even supply area brochures and recommendations for restaurants.

We've just returned from a wonderful weekend at the "Crazy Moose"! The owners have spared no expense in making this cabin charming, comfortable and well-equipped. The first thing you smell when you enter the home is the sweet scent of the timbers (cedar?). Then you notice the home's decorations, which look like a team of Disney imagineers were told to take a "North Woods" theme and get to work! (The theme is carried out in so many details it will take you a while to find them all!) We have stayed in many rentals over the years and NEVER have I been in one where the owners have invested so much in providing for the needs and comfort of their guests, even down to providing travel size toiletry items in the bathrooms! The porches are equipped with several glider rockers and the mattresses on the beds are so soothingly comfortable you will not want to get up! The location of this house is also fantastic -- halfway between Boone and Grandfather Mountain. Unless you are put off by taxidermy (see prominently placed raccoon in owner's photos!), you will not find a nicer nor better equipped home to rent than the "Crazy Moose"!
