Enjoy all that Acadia National Park has to offer!! Don't forget that September and October are two of the best months in Acadia. No crowds...just beautiful fall weather and gorgeous scenery. We are a short distance to all the natural beauty that is Acadia, and there is no time like the fall for hiking. We are located on what is known on the island of Mount Desert as the "Quiet Side". We are away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. Kayaking to the famous Bass Harbor Lighthouse is right off our shore. Relax on our patio and enjoy the garden.
The quaint village of Southwest Harbor is nearby. Take the nearby ferries to all the surrounding islands. Some of Acadia's easiest and most beautiful hikes are a short distance away.
We have a fully stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Our cottage is heated to take the chill off a cool autumn evening.

We loved our stay at the cottage. It was spacious for two people and well cared for. The gardens were beautiful to gaze at and it has the best equipped kitchen I have ever stayed in! I love to cook so it was both used and appreciated. Leslie was helpful in preparing us for what to expect. It is the quiet side yet there was plenty to do within a 10 to 30 minute car drive. We really enjoyed the quirkiness and excellent cold beer at Nemo's which is a five minute walk away. Thurston's lobster pound was another frequent stop to pick up live lobsters and watch the lobster boats in action in the harbor. I look forward to returning.

Owner response: I am so glad you loved the place..especially the kitchen. As a former chef, I try to put everything there that I will need, and hope that the guests enjoy it as well. I even try to keep in a supply of spices, flour and sugar. I am always happy to speak with potential renters about what is in the area that may be of interest to them.

I can't say enough nice things about this house and Leslie. The owners have done a wonderful job fixing up the house. The house was very spacious and clean, and the kitchen was better stocked than any other house we have stayed in. Downstairs there was bookcase full of books and beautiful paintings on the walls. Upstairs there was a video library with DVDs and videocassettes. Outside was a colorful flower garden which we admired from the kitchen table. The house was well-situated and we used it as our home base for exploring Acadia National Park and surrounding areas. The house is less than a block from the water, and we kayaked around a lovely marshy area the owner told us about. We also used the bikes to explore the carriage roads and Schoodic peninsula. Leslie was always available to answer any questions I might have and to offer helpful advice. Our only qualms (and these are very minor) were that the venetian blinds in the bedroom were insufficient to block the early summer sunrise on sunny days, and it was a little difficult to see oncoming traffic when backing out of the driveway onto the main road due to a slight hill on the main road that reduced visibility. We had a wonderful vacation and would definitely recommend this house to others.

Owner response: I just wanted to respond about the blinds. I am sorry that Sara didn't notice the shades under the blinds. They must have been all the way up, and so were difficult to see. We put them there as we agree that it is very bright in the morning. Future renters, please note that there are shades behind the blinds. Thank you!

This accomodation was perfect for a romantic, peaceful holiday vacation. It was clean, comfortable and simply charming. The gardens and grounds were lovely. the owner does fabulous things with flowers! The birds came to the feeders every morning and evening and it was lovely to sit on the patio and watch. There was a lively local "pub" within walking distance that was popular with the local fisherman. The house sits just off the main road and it was a breathtaking drive around the island. There is a lobster pound nearby and a small grocery, and a larger, excellent grocery, wine shop and cafes just up the road. It was a one minute walk down to the water and a common area. We would take our snacks and drinks there in the evening and watch the brilliant sunsets. We would definately stay there again, and plan on it for next year! There is so much to see and do.
