Intimate, Cozy and well maintained Cottage
We chose this rental because it was away from the hustle and bustle on Mt. Desert Island, namely Bar Harbor, but provided easy access to the hiking trails available in Acadia National Park and at a reasonable cost. The cottage is fully equipped with everything one might need on their stay on the island including fully loaded ice trays. You may wonder why this is important but it is when you wish to have a welcoming cocktail upon arrival. It just signifies the attention to detail that our hostess extends to her guests.
The kitchen has all the necessary utensils and appliances including lobster forks and nutcrackers. A brand new washer and dryer (with detergent), assured that we did not have to return home with dirty clothes. Paper towels, dish cloths, bath and hand towels, wash clothes, toilet paper and what-have-you were quite sufficient and available. A binder with all the information needed to have a good time on the island including suggested hiking trails, our hostess's suggestions for dinners and breakfasts, and shops where we may be able to purchase additional supplies was graciously provided.
Our hostess was quick to respond to any questions we had, and by quick, I mean some responses where within minutes of the asking! This rental was a wonderful retreat that provided a base for our adventure on Mt Desert Island. If I were to return, we would definitely seek to rent this cottage again. This place and our hostess are definitely above the rest!
Gorgeous views, comfortable home
My wife, 3.5 year old son and I could not have enjoyed our stay here more. And Anne was generously accommodating because I had to change dates last minute due to illness. So we actually ended up staying in Apple Cottage, just down the path. But I can attest to the loveliness of both properties. The proximity to the water is exceptional. The house has everything you need to be comfortable, and the village of Southwest Harbor (our favorite on MDI) is less than a 5-min drive away.
Perfect property for a getaway!
Great location and beautiful home for a weekend or week away. I'd definitely recommend this home to anyone.
Pleasant week on the quiet side
A great base for exploring all that MDI has to offer. Well furnished with all the basics. The path to the water is a bit unclear (some guidance in the house instructions would be helpful) but I think we found it and wandered down for a few nice evenings. The large apple tree in the back yard ensured a constant stream of hoofed visitors, young and old. It appears a neighboring lot is being cleared of trees (lots of chainsawing going on). Hopefully that does not diminish the peace and quiet of the setting that was so enjoyable.
Cozy cabin on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island
We had a great 4-night stay at the Cranberry Cottage with our two children. The house is very clean and bright, and the yard was great for the kids to play in. Location is nice, on the "quiet side" of the island, but still close to lots of hiking trails and other things to do (and places to eat). The owner provided plenty of helpful information about shopping, restaurants, and hikes, which was much appreciated! We really enjoyed our stay here.
A really nice place. It was clean, quiet and it had everything we needed for exploring Acadia.
