Welcome to Far Meadow. 3 cool cabins near Yosemite in the Sierra National Forest. Chic, eco-friendly, and affordable rentals with 2 vintage trailers for extra room. FAR MEADOW is our getaway situated in the Sierra National Forest at an elevation of 7000 feet. 14 miles above Bass Lake on the Historic Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, this property is surrounded by amazing meadows, secret swimming holes and miles and miles of undiscovered hiking trails. Your own private Yosemite lodging without the crowds.
WE ARE PET FRIENDLY
Travel is more fun with man's best friend. Bring your pet with you to the meadow. Tons of trails to explore, trees to sniff, critters to chase, and holes to dig.
The A FRAME CABIN is totally off the grid, powered by solar energy. There’s no phone and no television, but rest assured – internet access is provided via satellite. It’s the perfect hideaway for the outdoor enthusiast who doesn’t necessarily want to rough it.
This classic California cabin is simple and luxurious, modern and spacious (750 sq ft) with large windows overlooking the meadow and river.
If you need an extra bedroom for two people we have a vintage Silver Streak trailer available for placement in your location of choice.
The LOG CABIN
It doesn’t get more authentic than this log cabin, updated for modern adventurers while retaining old-fashioned charm. The cabin sits on twenty acres of private land in a remote meadow surrounded by the Sierra National Forest.
Our 'BASECAMP' is a romantic little cabin on the historic Old Yosemite Road with easy access to Yosemite National Park, located just outside of Oakurst close to HWY 41, about 7 miles from the South entrance to the park. Check out this cabin at our far-meadow website.
Discover wild flowers that bloom throughout the spring and summer in hues of yellow, blue and white. And the lush green of the new meadow grass, that turns yellow then white, as the seasons change.
3 hours east of San Francisco, 4.5 hours North of Los Angeles our 'Sierra Luxury Camp' is located within the Sierra National Park, right next to the Yosemite National Park, about 1 hour to the Yosemite South Gate Entrance. Close by towns are Bass Lake and Oakhurst .

Getting to Far Meadows was an adventure, and truly in the back country.Once there, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. The log cabin was great and rustic. We moved to the AFrame for the next 2 nights and had great time., We hiked the back meadows, up into th thick woods. Took Danny's advice to hike to Upper Jack Ass Lake and found our most amazing spot for our entire 12 d stay in California. We will definitely be back!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Like Yosemite Park without the park, very well done and thought out cabins. We stayed in an A Frame, there is also a old Log Cabin with modern fittings, and we saw a second A Frame in the works hidden behind a tree line. The caretaker/host was very thoughtful and made sure we were taken care of with firewood, hiking tips and offered to lead us on some activities if we wanted. Off the grid, off the map, just perfect for a getaway to really connect. Don't expect TV and the like, there was wifi, but like the power and water, all off grid( internet was satellite, power solar and water well). Hate to spoil it by telling others about it, but if I had just one piece of advice to give, it would be: GO!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We have stayed at Far Meadow/old yosemite a couple of times, and it is always everything you'd want it to be. The old yosemite cabin is REALLY pretty and being down closer to Oakhurst makes it a great place to stay if you want to be able to go into Yosemite Valley for the day. We also spent a few days up at the A-Frame cabin and its definitely one of our favorite places to go. Its just the right blend of simple/rustic without actually roughing it at all. Both places are well tended, the host is friendly and helpful, and its overall probably the most relaxing experience you could imagine. All in all, the properties are what you make of them... there's really something for everyone.. if you're very active/outdoor adventurer, there's a ton of exploring to do... if you're more of a foodie/hangout type there is an amazing deck with a fabulous grill on it for perfect outdoor cooking and eating/hanging out. We'll be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Just a quick thanks to you, Ron and the new caretakers at Far Meadow. Just got back from a wonderful trip — you don’t truly appreciate how special the place is until you get back to the noise of LA! Please also thank Heinz and Veronique — I did not realize it was them who were staying in the Air Stream until they were leaving, and I recognized their dog from the website. I feel rather guilty, as I must have “evicted” them from the A-frame. Best regards, and looking forward to being back soon! MathewDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I visited Sep 14-16, 2012 (3 nights) The cabin is located in the forest with 100% privacy and nature around. It is highly comfortable for couple with children. You have everything you need there, but this is not what I wanted to tell you. You probably read about all of this in other reviews. What I wanted to tell you is, for my opinion, even more important. The owners of the cabin are super nice and willing to help in everything you need during your stay at the cabin and after. For me, it is the best feeling, more than anything else. About the owner: We built FAR MEADOW on the fact that we want to spend our vacation in a place which has taste, style and personality. It doesn’t have to be BIG but what counts are the details, the design and furnishing. If this is what you would prefer for your next getaway, you are in the right place.
Why the Owner Chose Bass Lake:
This properties are surrounded by amazing meadows, secret swimming holes and miles and miles of undiscovered hiking trails. Our own private Yosemite without the crowds.
For the winter month and to be closer to the Park, we also have our 'BASECAMP' , which is a romantic little cabin on the historic Old Yosemite Road with easy access to Yosemite National Park, located just outside of Oakurst close to HWY 41, about 7 miles from the South entrance to the park. Check out this cabin at our far-meadow website.
