Casa Verde is a recently built waterfront getaway in the true Mexican hacienda style, with a palapa (palm leaf) roof, stone walls, and courtyard with a fountain, lushly landscaped grounds, and mature palm trees.
This charming and spacious 3200 plus square foot casa consists of a Main House with three bedrooms, three baths, and a Guest House with one bedroom, one bath. Large porches overlook the Sea of Cortez, the desert and the magnificent Sierra Laguna Mountains.
Casa Verde is perfectly situated on the beach to take full advantage of the cooling afternoon breezes. There are separate air conditioning units and ceiling fans in every room. All water on the premises is from clean and safe Artesian Wells.
Casa Verde is located on the warm secluded beaches of Rancho Leonero on the East Cape of Baja, Mexico, 42 miles north the Los Cabos International Airport. We are 8 miles south of the town of Los Barriles, conveniently located halfway between La Paz, to the north, and Cabo San Lucas, to the south. This area along the Sea of Cortez has long been a favored hideaway for anglers, adventurers and those who want to get away from the crowds.
During your stay at Casa Verde you will feel comfortable in the extra large rooms with 16 ft. vaulted palapa ceilings and authentic Mexican appointments, from the leather and wood furniture to the artistic tile work. The casa's rustic charm will add to the enjoyment of your stay.
Large plate glass windows and sliding glass doors give you a view and access to the water and the beach. From the comfort of the porch, you can watch a variety of birds ride the air currents, pelicans dive for food, and fish jump and splash. The sea is alive and full of wonderful surprises.
In the Main House, the Great Room is the heart of the hacienda. This very spacious room has a high 16 foot palapa ceiling that covers the fully equipped kitchen, the dining room, and the inviting living room. The Great Room and the connecting beach porch is where everybody can gather to enjoy the bounty of Baja and the companionship of family and friends.
The spacious Master Suite has a king size bed with a locally handmade headboard and table lamps, a 16 foot palapa ceiling, a sea view, sliding glass doors to the beach and a custom cedar walk through closet. The oversized Master Suite bathroom has a large Mexican tiled shower, a Mexican tiled vanity with a beautiful talavera sink and a separate relaxing Jacuzzi bath that looks into an enclosed private garden.
In the Main House, one of the two Guest bedrooms has a king size bed, the other has twin beds. Both bedrooms have custom hand make headboards and a creative Mexican decor. In the hacienda style, both bedrooms have their own keyed entrances that open to the courtyard and fountain.
The very large bathroom is decorated in colorful Mexican tiles with a beautiful talavera sink and matching appointments. The oversized decorative tile shower, sixteen foot palapa ceilings and rustic art work finishes off this unique room.
The charming Guest House has a magnificent 360 degree view of the Sea of Cortez, the desert and the beautiful Sierra Laguna Mountains. The fully equipped kitchen and the living room, with a futom couch, looks out on the water. This one bedroom house features a king size bed and panoramic view windows. To add to your relaxation, there are two decks with a table, chairs, and chaise lounges for you to read, rest, or enjoy outdoor dining.
The views of the desert, mountains, and the sea are spectacular. Just out the sliding glass beach doors, enjoy fantastic fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, sunbathing, and peaceful walks on the miles of beach. Experience the heart pounding excitement of the East Cape's world famous fishing. The Marlin, sailfish, dorado, tuna and wahoo fishing will take your breath away. Charter boats with experienced captains are available just a few hundred yards down the beach.
To further help you relax and enjoy your stay, Casa Verde's caretaker and housekeeper will come twice a week to care for the casa and its grounds. This service is included. A cook is available for preparing meals for an extra charge. Ask for rates.

Why the Owner Chose Los Barriles
It is very easy to explain why we bought and them built our vacation home on the East Cape of Baja. The property is on the beautiful shores of the magnificent Sea of Cortez. It is sunny more than 300 days of the year. The fishing is some of the best in the world. It is away for the crowds, some what like Cabo was 30 years ago. And the local people are warn, friendly and the true spirit of Baja. It's also a great place to wiggle your toes in the sand. The choice was easy, it makes us feel good. We hope it does the same for you.
The Unique Benefits at this House with Guest House
It is a place where the whole family can play and enjoy the beauty of Baja. Miles of uncrowded beach, great swimming snorkeling and diving out the back door. There is world famous deep sea and inshore fishing. Our guest enjoy the use of two kayaks and enough snorkeling equipment for the whole family and friends. There is ATV riding, hiking, horseback riding, shopping, sightseeing and great food in the local restaurants. One of the favorite activities at Casa Verde is to grab a book and a favorite beverage, and as the gentle cooling breeze comes off the water, recline on a chaise lounge under the palapa shade on the beach porch and see if you get through the first two chapters before you fall asleep. Life is good in Baja.
Going north, turn right after the 103KM marker painted on the Hwy. Follow the signs to Rancho Leonero. Casa Verde is painted on the front gate wall, just above a picture of an iguana. Hard to miss!!!
Los Barriles is where you will do most of your grocery shopping. There are shops, banks and a number of good restaurants. You can rent ATVs here also.
A good arroyo for an ATV ride. Good place to take some food and drinks and spend some time, sightseeing, hiking, climbing the creek and relaxing in the water. You can rent ATVs in Los Barriles.
About a 1 3/4 hour drive. The capitol city of Lower Baja. Lots of stores and restaruants. It is not a "touristy" and Cabo.
