Timber Cove house description

Timber Sea Sojourn is the ideal getaway for one to two couples or a small family. Located about two hours north from San Francisco off the stunning Pacific Coast Highway (Highway One) it provides an escape from city life and a way to connect with nature. The property consists of five acres among the redwood forest offering privacy and seclusion. The house is full of windows and french doors along with high vaulted ceilings allowing generous amounts of natural light to flood the interior. Gas powered fireplaces in the main room and master bedroom add ambience as well as warmth. The huge deck off the great room is the perfect place to sit and relax the day away. And at the end of your day, you can take a dip in the wine barrel hot tub while soaking up the sights and sounds that surround you.

There is plenty to do if you choose to venture out. A number of coastal and redwood forest trails are within minutes from Timber Sea Sojourn and beach access via Stillwater Cove is a quick five-minute drive up the highway. The towns of Sea Ranch and Gualala are located north about 30 minutes drive and offer a handful of shops and restaurants to explore. Annapolis Winery is tucked back among the hills and makes for a great half day trip. Kayaking, fishing and other water sports are also available.

This property is simply wonderful! The pictures do not do it justice, it's beautiful and huge! The kitchen is amazingly well stocked, even has a crockpot, blender, and food processor. A perfect blend of modern comfort and that 'getaway' feel. We celebrated Thanksgiving with some local relatives and had 11 people feasting together on the patio surrounded by trees and fresh ocean air. It was close to lots of beautiful day trips, but I would have been content to just relax at the cabin. The owners were a joy to work with. I'm certain my family will be visiting again.

The property felt like a beautiful cabin in the woods, but it was just over 2 hours from San Francisco. We spent a wonderful weekend getaway here with close friends and our kids, and never wanted to leave the property, although there's plenty to do for the adventurous. The home itself is perfect - light-flooded and spacious (there were 6 of us), with a huge deck, hot tub, and hammock. The kids had space to play - the home is already stocked with lots of games, and there are nooks and crannies to discover, including a walk-in closet with a full sized bed that the kids enjoyed. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything from a coffee pot to condiments, although the dishwasher wasn't working, but that was a minor issue. Overall, a great place to get away to and recharge. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time. The location was beautiful and the house was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The large deck was really enjoyable. We traveled to nearby Gualala and made use of the surrounding state parks and beaches. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A peaceful weekend in the midst of the redwoods and salt air.

We just got home after spending 6 wonderful days here. Our group consisted of myself, my husband, our four kids (13, 10, 10, and 8), and two dogs (a Boxer and a Cocker Spaniel). The listing says 2 bedrooms, but there is actually a third room with a full size bed in it. It's just REALLY small - more like a large closet. Our oldest and our youngest shared it and thought it was the coolest bedroom ever! One of the perks to this place, for us, was the wireless internet and cable TV. Our youngest is Autistic and we weren't sure how he'd do without any access to video games or TV time. At night he made use of both, but during the day he was so enchanted with the surrounding woods! There were so many things to do in the area. We explored Fort Bragg, Gualala (go to Jack's Pharmacy!) at least half a dozen hiking trails between Gualala and Fort Bragg, several little coves/beaches, we walked the roads around the property, and down to Bodega Bay (seriously, though, pack some Dramamine if you'll be riding passenger - whether you're inclined to carsickness or not). At night we hung out and played games or watched a movie. Our girls even brought their tent and slept out on the deck one night! I can't say enough positive things about our stay. It was perfect. Ok - but now on to the helpful bits for future vacationers: (Mind you, not one of these things detracted from our stay AT ALL. Just good things to be aware of.) 1) The book on the desk makes reference to "a key on the cork board" for the trash. We searched EVERYWHERE and never found the key. We also didn't need it, though. 2) If the dishwasher works, we never figured out the secret handshake. We just did dishes by hand after a few failed attempts with it. 3) This one was a bit more worrisome than the others. The closet door in front of the dryer fell off it's hinge a few times. The first time it happened (first night), I almost had a heart attack. I was looking for a broom and the door fell out on me! But, it was really easy to put back, and it looked like it just needed to have a screw tightened. We were just extra careful, and told the kids not to touch it. And lastly, the house is dog friendly, but is completely unfenced. I did wish a few times that I'd brought a couple of tie downs so they could play outside more freely. Our second day, a deer wandered on to the property. It was too tempting for them. Even with their perfect recall at home, I had to go hunt the two of them down.

We enjoyed our stay at your home on the coast. It was wonderful having such a relaxing place to return to each day after exploring the area. We traveled north up the coast to Fort Bragg and many of the roads across the coastal range to check out Lake Sonoma, mountain ridges and bridges, Plantation, Annapolis, Santa Rosa, Boonville, Yorkville and Guerneville. Next time we are bringing the bikes! What beautiful scenery, roads, beaches and hiking trails (thanks for leaving the hiking book on the counter). Enjoyed finding tall trees and seeing the small deer with their fawns, vineyards and walking along the bluffs.

Our family enjoyed a beautiful Mothers Day weekend in this Timber Cove home. The entire experience, from making arrangements with the owner to walking through wild flowers on the ocean bluffs was fantastic. The house had plenty of room for the 4 of us (all adults). The kitchen was well supplied with good quality cooking equipment, as well as a Webber bbq on the deck. When you add in the fact the the Timber Cove part of the Sonoma coast is nothing less than stunning, our weekend stay was as perfect as can be.

I almost don't want to write my review, I'm afraid it will make people book the cabin and I won't be able to visit anymore! Four girls, one dog, and three days, and the only problem we had was that we only had three days. The cabin is situated perfectly to be bright and sunny, and has everything you could possibly want to cook with. The windows, of which there are many, look out onto a peaceful view, and the ocean is just visible from the dining table. We walked around the neighborhood a few times a day, and although our calves hurt from the climb, we loved the houses, views, ponies, and fresh air. The sunset from the bluffs is amazing, worth the very short walk across the highway. We had a few problems with the electronics, and got a prompt response on how to work them properly. All four of us agree that we would love to visit Timber Sea again!

I stayed at Timber Cove for three nights with my family. It is a beautiful property, in the perfect location for anyone who want to mushroom hunt, hike, kayak....Or never leave the house. The only clarifications I would put out there is to advise anyone renting to get your directions written down before you reach the coast . Cell coverage is very spotty/non-existent, and the owners did not provide any directions with the check-in info. It's not right on Hwy 1 (which is part of why the property is so nice!) so you'll need to prepared to make a couple of easy turns. I also noted that the listing still says that there is a sofa bed, but there isn't. Instead there is a queen bed in a very tiny room (think closet). It wasn't a problem for our group, but may be something that others would be surprised by. All in all, I was very impressed at how well stocked and decorated this house is. I will certainly be looking this property up any time we head out Timber Cove way!

This peacefully seren home is just the place for restful rejuvenation! Take a book, a nap, a dip in the spa or a strolle with the kids and family pet. We started the mornings off with fresh ground coffee and a dip in the spa - What a treat! The beautiful forest surrounding the home and a view in the near distance of waves breaking on the shore make this vacation location one for your journal and one to repeat. We drove the a few miles to Napa/Sonoma Wineries on July 4th and enjoyed wine tasting the some of the fresh local flavors. Took some time to go to Gualala River to fish and hike the trails. Thanks also for the great informational books that filled me in on all the local history about Fort Ross and the families who founded this area. I would recommend this property to everyone wanting a truly memorable experience for any occasion - easily sleeps 6 and room for an RV next to the house if your planning a reunion. The deck is huge and that's where we spend most of our time playing games, BBQing, reading and just taking in Gods bounty. If you like the outdoors, but your camping experience requires the comforts of home and then some - you will love this place!

This was a beautiful place to stay. There was five of us which included 2 children (5 years old). The adults had a blast with the views and the kids ran around the house. Kept busy looking at flowers and bugs! There is this extra room, the the kids "LOVED" and stayed in, so the adults got the two main rooms to themselves! Tons of beaches to choice from! I am a huge Bodega Bay fan, but the ocean between Jenner and Gualala is so BEAUTIFUL! Bright blue waters. It is so worth the extra 30 minute drive!!! I can't wait to stay again and for longer... Owner was great to work with.
