Just returned form a 4 day stay at this lovely cottage. Would defiantly recommend it. The cottage is tidy and extremely well provisioned, Good hot water and pressure. Nice quite beach across the road offers great swimming, some ok snorkeling and almost no one else around. This is a great base to have a wonderful Hawaiian experience away from the high rise resorts and mobs of people. We just fell in love with this part of Oahu. Cottage is very comfortable for 2 people.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

The cottage had everything needed for our stay to visit our granddaughter. It was close to the college which we wanted. Photos were accurate, but made the cottage appear larger than it was. No problem, though, as we were only there at night. The bed was so comfortable, T.V. large and nice. The cottage was clean and everything worked well: shower, toilet, sink, etc. However, the light over the back door in the entry was not working. Sam was helpful in answering our questions. The people in the other two homes on the property were friendly and helpful. The wonderful activities of the Polynesian Cultural Center were only three miles away. We enjoyed walking the cultural villages and seeing the Night Show - a real showcase for Polynesian cultures. No matter how many times we drove from the cottage to Laie, driving along the ocean was beautiful and relaxing. Higher-class restaurants are limited, except at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We found a great little roadside place in Kahuku named Titias. Very casual but the food was very good! There is a McDonald's in Laie if needed, as well as a shopping center with a grocery store and various other shops. We were pleased with ourselves to have found this place, both for cleanliness and cost. Would recommend it!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed two nights. I liked that the property was across the street from the beach. Wish I could have swam out there during our stay. If you use public transportation the bus stop is very nearby. The bed was comfortable and unit clean. The price was right. However, you get what you pay for. Don't expect the fanciest digs in town. That is fine with us though. My only real complaint would be the window shades. They do not provide enough privacy at night. When the lights are turned on in the cottage, you can see directly inside. They also let in a lot of morning light. This unit is a bit of a drive to North Shore activities. If you are hoping to be close to the famous beaches, expect to drive a bit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Although the photo of the exterior of the house is deceiving, but once we bypass the junk hanging around the common yard area, the cottage interior is actually quite cute, and is definitely sufficient for 2 ppl.'s little get away. Kitchen, bathroom are generously equipped with amenities. The semi-see through blinds caught us by surprise though, it's no fun having passer by to see right into the bedroom from the street when the lights are on, one little trick is to unroll the blind fully and clip it to the top, making it double layers (not see through anymore :). then you can undress at ease. The light at the entrance was not reliable, and not go on most of the time, kitchen light was broken. We met both friendly neighbors and Junior Ah You, owner at Tita's Grill, received the warmest and friendliest hospitality, make sure you make it a must stop at your visit to the North Shore they've got the best delicious prawn. Mahalo Sam, we had a lovely stay at your place, location is great!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

The cottage was exactly what we imagined from the description. It was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The neighbor was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. There is a washer and dryer which was really handy. The town is quaint and gave us a good feel for the area and the locals. Ha'uula was a great base to explore North and South of the town. There was so much to do very close by.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

Great Location! But photo is deceiving. This can't be named a "Cottage". It's quaint inside but call it what it is. These are mobile homes. Needs privacy shades in main bedroom window. Passersby can see right in. Needs a little TLC; i.e, fixtures.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This was a great vacation rental. I really enjoyed my trip to Hawaii and this house gave a great place to come back to and rest. There is everything you need to enjoy your trip, it comes with items that will save you money and give a comfortable atmosphere to be in. The view from the house wasntnas good as I would have hoped but you don't go to Hawaii to sit at the house so its not a big deal. All in all, very good place to stay!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

the studio looked from the out side like a storage bldg. which has bee transform in to a studio. the bldg. had all the owner's machines and other items stored on the side of it and looke very junky. Inside the bldg. building details was not finished, things like the base board. when we arrived we had trouble taking the key of the door and this happened for the next few days, it will take us 10 minutes just to get that key of the door cause it will not come out. The bed was sleeped in and undone and the sheets smell sleeped in. there were some ants and roaches. I will not recomend this property. The property is the little bldg. on the picture to the right of the biger bldg. The rate of the property is not very much but considering, I will recomend paying a bit more and for a better property. And the property does not have an ocean view, there are 3 properties in the lot an bldg. C is the one and is in the back, and the only view is a back yard. I was so disapointed after a 10hr flight I felt i wanted to cry.Owner response: I’m so sorry you did not enjoy your vacation to Hawaii. I wish I had known that while you were here, you were so unhappy. I would have worked to remedy whatever possible. Regardless, I feel that some of the comments made herein are simply untrue or embellished. The cottage is indeed a converted storage area, hence the term cottage. The property for which the cottage sits, does share a driveway and other common areas. (Walkway & Laundry) with two other homes. We have had trouble with the key lately due to the close proximity to the Ocean, mechanical items tend to be a bit finicky because of the salt air and rust. We have since repaired the sticky lock. It is impossible that the bed was slept in and that the sheets smelled. I personally inspected the cottage after cleaning and noted that the condition was clean and ready for new guests. Some ants and roaches do exist in Hawaii and will enter any dwelling if food is left out. The property does indeed have an ocean view, which has been enjoyed by many previous guests. Building C is located towards the back right of the property and has a grassy back yard and mountain view. Again I am very sorry that you have not enjoyed your stay. We will take the comments here as constructive criticism and strive to improve where necessary. Aloha

I wanted to show my boyfriend (who's from Australia) a bit of the North Shore, so we booked Sam's cozy cottage for a few nights. It was the perfect location for us. Right across from a beach, which is great to walk along at sunset/sunrise. Within walking distance to Hau'ula Loop Trail, which provided some great views and a good afternoon of hiking. Also loved that it was close enough to the main tourist hub (Haleiwa, Waimea, Sunset, etc.) without having to be stuck in the tourist congestion everyday. The house itself had everything we needed (wifi, TV, kitchen, A/C, and a washing machine). The neighbors on the property were also very nice and helpful. Thanks Sam for your hospitality and I have already recommended this place to friends and family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: I am a local real estate agent and school teacher here in Hawaii. I enjoy helping people learn about the Island and sharing all that it has to offer. In my spare time I go surfing, hiking, and swimming in the ocean. It is my pleasure to be able to provide a place for people to come relax and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii. Aloha!
Why the Owner Chose Hauula:
I chose to buy this property because of its ideal Windward-North Shore Oahu location. This part of the island is considered the most beautiful by many who visit and reside here. When staying in this area, you are away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. There are an abundance of beautiful Beaches, and verdant Mountians, to explore.
