We've stayed at many VRBOs, and have been happy, but the Dufranc studio really takes the cake. Exceptional!. The photos are lovely, but the real deal is even nicer. Everything is new, tasteful, comfortable, and squeaky clean. The location is also perfect--pretty much in the center of Sonoma, plus walking distance from downtown Sebastapol (great little spot). Joanne and Doug have stocked the place with every conceivable amenity. Moreover, we were greeted with a generous array of delicious high end treats that included sparkling wine, IPA beer, carbonated juices, bottled water, handmade truffles, cheese, crackers, guacamole, and chips! We really enjoyed the pool, the hot tub, and especially the lovely deck overlooking the vineyards. The property is breathtaking with lush gardens and roses galore. With respect to Joanne and Doug, they are just the best! Joanne gave us several cards for complimentary tastings and recommendations to some fantastic restaurants. We especially loved Corks and the French Gardens. Doug provided a tour of the vineyard, and we learned more from him than we did from any of the wineries. Some of our favorite wineries included Williams Selyem (tasting is free, but must make an appointment), Bella, Arista, J, and Acorn (appointment needed). Pedroncelli is also fun, and the wines are very reasonably priced compared to the others. TIP: Get a Visa Signature card--members receive complimentary tastings at more than 70 wineries in Sonoma. It'll save you a bundle.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We loved hosting Kelly and Grant. They were so gracious and appreciative of everything we did for them. Their love and appreciation of wine and Sonoma county was gratifying and they really enjoyed Doug's tour of our vineyard and asked great questions! They were very neat and clean and left the apartment spotless! Kelly and Grant were really fun to be around and I look forward to their next visit so that we can get to know each other better.

From the moment we arrived, we knew this would be a memorable stay. Joanne and Doug are the perfect hosts. Kind and accommodating, but never intrusive. And oh, generosity! We felt truly pampered: decadent local truffles, delicious wine, icy cold local beer, organic chips and guacamole, triple cream brie, buttery crackers, and juicy grapes, the list goes on. Still not convinced? How about a blissful bed that lulls you to a deep and restoring sleep or luscious robes and a stress melting soak in the hot tub. If you are planning a trip to Sebastopol and want it to feel like paradise, look no further. This is it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a very relaxing stay at the Wine Country Studio. Joanne and Doug are welcoming hosts who do everything to make your stay at their property memorable and comfortable. The studio was stocked with all of our favorite items. Joanne sent us information about the area before we arrived. Doug gave us an informative tour of his vineyard and answered all of our questions. We asked for information about tours in the area, and they emailed many options to us that evening. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub with wine we had purchased from local wineries. They even left homemade banana bread for us, warm from the oven. Who can beat that? Thank you Doug and Joanne, we hope to visit again when there are grapes on your vines! This rental is specatacular! Joanne and Doug are welcoming and hospitable. We enjoyed a glass of wine with them upon arrival, and Doug spent time with us in his vineyard giving us a requested primer on grape-growing and winemaking! The rental itself is bright, comfortable, clean and private. It is fully stocked with everything one needs, and also included all kinds of goodies like wine, cheese, and chocolates. The location is wonderful: we walked into town on many occasions, and also fully utilized the West County walking trail that is accessible just down the street. They have not missed a detail to provide a comfortable stay. I highly recommend the Dufranc rental. Thanks, Joanne and Doug!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. We're so glad you had a good time and that you had such beautiful weather during your stay. You definitely win the prize for most miles walked! It was wonderful meeting you and Bill and we'll keep our fingers crossed that you decide to make Sebastopol your home. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

We also return home deeply renewed and rejuvenated. This quiet and peaceful studio is beautifully equipped with everything that is needed, including basic cooking staples, tea and coffee, and robes. Our hosts also provide special touches that delight us--granola bars, chocolate, fruit and cheese. Downtown is an easy walk, and everything else is within an easy drive. It is exactly as pictured, absolutely clean and well maintained. It is absolutely perfect!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: Mike and Trish visit more than any other guests and we love having them here. They are so appreciative of everything we do and we look forward to many more visits!

We were thoroughly pleased and pleasantly suprised by this georgous, spotlessly clean, well appointed property. The personal amenities, which were added to insure that our stay was perfect, were simply divine. We would reccomend renting this property to any two people looking for a quiet, lovely, relaxed stay. Downtown Sebastopol is a short, pleasant walk. Everything that you might need or want is very accessible. We will definately stay here again, hopefully very soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was a real pleasure having Diane and Randy stay at our studio. They are a sweet and extremely thoughtful couple that left the premises as perfect as they found it. We hope they come back and see us again soon!

I book a lot on VRBO, and I have never had a bad experience. However, I've also never had an exceptional experience...until my wife and I stayed here. The place is great. Furnished well, secluded but close to town, very comfortable and private. However Doug and Joanne are by far the most gracious hosts you could ever ask for. I wish more people took their vacation rental as serious as these two. They gave us advice on where to go, had coupons for local wineries, great food suggestions, etc. If you are even thinking about staying here, book it. My wife and I will go back many times.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad that Brian and Alissa had a great time - especially since it was their honeymoon! Such a sweet couple and we hope that they celebrate some of their future anniversaries with us too. They left the apartment in immaculate condition which we always appreciate. So glad they were able to get into Scopa, one of our favorite restaurants in Healdsburg. Thanks for the complement on the furnishings - that means a lot coming from someone who owns and runs a furniture store!

We had such a wonderful stay in the Wine Country Studio! Joanne and Doug are really superb hosts, and have gone out of their way to provide all the necessities and comforts we could have wanted. All the information we needed was communicated throughly and well in advance. The studio is lovely, the property is gorgeous, and we loved the close proximity to downtown Sebastapol. We can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was great having Courtney and Candace spend their well deserved vacation here. So glad they were here to experience our Pinot noir harvest. Only one guest a year gets to do that!

If my "Garden of Eden" title suggests that we found this place to be perfect, then it has accomplished it's mission. Large, comfortable apartment set against an idyllic hobby vineyard and garden backdrop, tucked back along Dufranc Avenue yet just a short walk to town. Looks great on the internet, but the place lives much better than the pictures suggest. Large private sitting area overlooking vineyard is a quiet, private place for coffee, meals or wine. You are invited to pick some tomatoes and zucchini fresh from the garden. Great spa and pool area behind the main house in which to relax. At their own instigation, Joanne and Doug kindly adjusted the terms of our stay, facilitating our early return home to attend to a death in the family. (In this regard, they showed much more consideration for our circumstances than did Sir Richard Branson.) We'll be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: I appreciate this very sweet review. It was a pleasure to meet Margaret and John especially since Margaret shares my love of garden veggies and exercise! We hope we get to see you back here again some day when you visit your son and his new bride.
