This apartment is located on Rue des Boulangers, a tiny cobblestoned street 5 minutes walk from Boulevard St. Germain in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It is within an easy stroll of Luxembourg Gardens, the Sorbonne, Jardin des Plantes,the Bastille, Marais and Isle St. Louis, etc.
But if you`r in a hurry there are 2 metro stations within a minutes walk of the front door, one (CARDINAL LEMOINE) running east/west and the other (JUSSIEU) running north/south. This makes the apartment wonderfully accessible. The famous street market at Rue Moufftard is close by (Hemingway and Joyce lived here). Don`t miss the scene there on Sunday mornings, it`s France at it`s most charming.
The apartment itself is up four flights of stairs to the top, but when you open the door you will appreciate the atmosphere, view, and above all the peace, quiet and privacy that only being on the top floor can bring. It is small, of course, as are most apartments in this wonderful old part of Paris, known as the Latin Quarter, but it was skillfully renovated by an architect to maximize the space while retaining the original features - parquette flooring, ceiling roses, shutters, fireplace, etc. And it is uncluttered; there is an empty walk in closet.
The Kitchen, sitting room and bedroom each have a big beautiful window looking across gardens and tree tops to the spires of Notre Dame, whose bells sound like no other.
This apartment was furnished to be a home, not a rental, and it is cosy and comfortable with a mixture of antiques and contemporary furniture of a high quality.
The bedroom has a king size bed (it can be separated to make twin beds), the sitting room has a proper sofa bed, and the bathroom has a tub with a wall-mounted shower and a bidet (so useful for soaking those aching feet, with a glass of wine in hand and Mozart or Willy Nelson on the CD player!)
There is cable t.v (CNN and BBC) and high speed wireless connection for the internet. The telephone is not blocked for international calls, and has an answering machine. The kitchen is small but separate and has a dishwasher, microwave, and a 4 ring gas burner. There is also a washing machine and a Miele dryer. Linens are provided, of course and there is an iron and ironing board, and a ceramic hairdryer.
We want this to be an apartment you look forward to coming home to after a wonderful but tiring day, to put your feet up with a cup of tea, the music and books (including lots of guide books so don`t bothering carrying any with you!) and above all the airy peace, before setting out again to enjoy more of the sheer pleasure of just being in Paris with a place to call home.
