This private studio is the only rental on our property. Olas Hermosas sits on a rare spot on the oceanside of the coastal highway, built with the remarkable view as the architectural focal point, and from every part of the efficiency you'll see the beautiful ocean, stunning beach and bay. Even when you take your shower you will be able to enjoy the view.
Olas Hermosas is furnished with full kitchen, air conditioning, hot water, sunflower seed shower head, washer and dryer, speaker system that can be used with your iPod or other music is input devices and cable TV. A king-size bed converts to two twins, and for the third or forth person there is one double futon and/or a high end air bed with pump. All you need to bring are your personal items.
The front has a private gated entrance with remote control. You do not need a four-wheel drive since you never have to leave pavement from the San Jose Airport to the gated entrance. You will only be a mile from great shops and restaurants in the village of Dominical. The front yard area is fully landscaped using local tropical plants and flowers.
The efficiency is perfect for a couple but can accommodate 4 if you know each other very well...
We are located in a tropical paradise where the mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. The primary jungle ridge across the road is one of the steepest in the area so close to the ocean so noone is looking down on you. We have the best close-up views in the southern region. Ballena Marine National Park is only a 10 minute drive down the Coastal South Highway, with a gorgeous string of beaches along the way and two other National Parks close by.
Do not to forget your binoculars and camera! From your top floor 180´ unobstructed ocean view terrace you can see a large variety of birds and wildlife throughout the day. Across the highway is an unobstructed few of the steep mountain ridge full of wildlife, perfect for sitting and seeing what you can spot from the covered patio or from poolside. Watch the activity of the local fishing boats from the small anchorage at bay side and see an occasional whale or two from your vacation rental getaway. Several were spotted from the veranda the week after Christmas just two-hundred meters offshore. Best viewing results are early in the morning and late afternoon.
Get away from the crowds and stay in a private, clean and secure environment. It is not uncommon that you will find that you are the only one on this secluded mile-long picturesque beach just a 4 minute walk from your tropical home away from home to swim, sunbathe, stroll the beach or look for shells and sand dollars. Beach chairs for your comfort on the beach and a soft-sided cooler for your cold drinks and picnic treats are here for your convenience. We have two boogie boards you can rent for your entire visit for $10 each and also a cell phone for calls within Costa Rica at our cost.
Relax at the end of the day and watch as the sun sinks into the ocean most of the year. In addition to the regular gorgeous sunsets, you will experience the soothing sound of the rhythm of the ocean waves or, at other moments, witness dramatic scenes as huge waves encounter the rocks in a beautiful display of Nature at her best.
A neighboring restaurant has one of the best secluded oceanview dinner locations that can't be missed.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
We are Costa Rican residents (not to be confused with citizens) and own a real estate company in Dominical in this area we enjoy so much. Deb and I maintain homes in Alaska and Colorado where we spend time doing a lot of outdoor activities that both places have to offer. We look forward to sharing some guacamole and margarita’s when you are here. I also make killer nacho's.
Why the Owner Chose Dominical
On Deb's first visit to Costa Rica she traveled the entire Pacific Coast and instantly fell in love with the topography here in Dominical as soon as she crossed over the Rio Baru. The people we meet that live here and visit are some of the most interesting we have met and so it is the people tht keep us here (the fact that it is still relatively undiscovered piece of paradise is not a bad draw either)
The Unique Benefits of this Studio
By being a local business owner with a small real estate office on the first level, you will get personal service regarding reservations for activities and a source to answer the many questions you might have. We know how special holidays are and we want you to spend your time enjoying the area and not figuring out what to do (if oyu want to do anything).

My cousin and I stayed for just over three weeks at Dave and Deb's place this past summer. The studio/accommodations are absolutely beautiful and you are provided with everything you need. The view from the balcony is stunning and the beach and the waterfall (which was my favorite place by the way!) are easily within walking distance. This was one of the best vacations I've ever been on. Dave and Deb are very hospitable and make you feel right at home. So much so that I feel like we walked away with lifelong friends. Dominical is a lovely little town, the locals are friendly and hospitable and there is great surfing. There are also some fun running trails all over the jungle or you can go on a breathtaking beach run. :) We were very happy and satisfied with our stay and would recommend this to any of our friends or family in a heartbeat.

Your easy D.I.Y. Costa Rican vacation Beautiful, clean, affordable accommodations very close to funky, surf-town Dominical. If you want a resort-y experience, stay further north. If you want to self-cater but still hit some great local restaurants, this is the place. Owners Dave & Deb will play concierge for you and let you in on the hits and misses of the area so you don't waste a single minute. (unless you want to waste minutes, in which case lazing on the deck or wandering along the miles of beaches in front of the house are options too) If you are a runner, D&D; will show you great runs. Just go! • By IanC from Calgary, Alberta, Canada (From Trip Advisor on 11/4/2010)

Staying at Olas Hermosas with Dave West as your host is a great way to get introduced to the Dominical area. The Studio suite is easy to find and has amazing ocean & sunset views. The beach below quiet and great for morning and evening walks. We highly recommend staying at Olas Hermosas. • By Jules & Doug from Bowen Island, BC (From Trip Advisor on 11/1/2010)

The Perfect Vacation Everything was exactly as promised! This place matched the photos and description to a tee and we lacked for nothing! The views were breathtaking! The beach is just a very short walk away and the little surfer village of Dominical is just down the road. Dominical has a little bit of everything... lazy surfer bars, little markets, live music, little stands with jewelry and gifts and an absolutely beautiful beach. Make sure you ask Dave and Debbie about "Tuna Tuesday"! Speaking of Dave and Deb, they are some of the nicest and most hospitable people I have met. They went out of their way to make our vacation a truly memorable experience. If you like to cook, the studio has everything you need. The produce is so fresh and inexpensive. There is a fish market just down the road. We bought an entire Mahi-Mahi for $10!! There are also a wide variety of restaurants in Dominical for those not so culinary adventurous...Tortilla Flats, The Rum Bar and San Clemente to name a few. Dave will point you to his favorite beach just down the road and will let you rent out boogie boards. The huge waves make it a blast. The studio is also fully equipped with beach supplies just make sure you bring sunscreen. That sun is hot!! Make sure you check out the waterfall from the pictures. It is awesome! We rented a very small car which was perfect except for the main road in Dominical which is extremely bumpy. If you want to go up into the jungle at all you will need four wheel drive. For the most part we were fine with our little matchbox car. One thing to be aware of...everyone has to have Costa Rican car insurance which is around $50 a day. Expedia did not inform us of this when we reserved a car with them! This was truly my favorite and most relaxing vacation ever. The beautiful views matched with the Costa Rican's "pura vida" attitudes made it a trip to paradise. If you decide to stay here you will have the time of your life! Fantastic! We rented from Dave and Deb the first time we went to Costa Rica. We could not have asked for better service or a better place to stay for an initial visit. The accommodations were very clean and the location was great - close to everything with fabulous sunsets every night that you watch right on your balcony. It is a studio apartment so it is perfect for 2 but could sleep a 3rd person. Deb and Dave are wonderful to rent from. They are so friendly and helpful and have lots of knowledge of activities in the surrounding area and beyond. We are privileged to now consider them our friends. Didn't Want to Leave! Olas Hermosas is a perfect little hide-away just outside of Dominical. It is just a short walk to a lovely palm shaded cove and during low-tide you can walk along the beach to Dominical where you will find a number of funky restaurants and cafes. Deb and Dave are the perfect hosts. They made us feel right at home and provided us with everything we needed. They went out of their way to help us rent a car and organize tours and even introduced us to several other vacationers and locals. The studio is perfectly suited for a couple and is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equiped and there is a covered deck with a BBQ and outdoor seating making it the perfect spot to chill out after a refeshing dunk in the pool or to watch the sun go down. Close to all of the main activities and beaches on the southern Costa Rican coast, Ola Hermosas was truely our home away from home in Dominical. I have since built a home in CR and can personally advise And recommend this property as I will always have my friends and guests stay here when they visit and my little casita is full. Dave and Deb are truly the most professional Guest Home owners in the Dominical region !!! If you are looking for a fabulous little private home with the best view ever, plus close proximity to the beach, there are few other choices and they do not meet the excellence of Olas Hermosas !!! The only downside is if you are fortunate to find a open space of vacancy I spent a month here in 2009 and booked nearly a year in advance... Good luck and you will not regret your choice and decision to visit this beautiful part of Costa. More... • By Linnie from Brainerd, MN and Uvita, Costa Rica on (From Trip Advisor 10/31/2010)

This was our first time to Costa Rica and it couldn't have been a better experience for me and my boyfriend. The Studio is spacious, clean, comfortable and has everything you would need for you stay. Location is great, we traveled to Manuel antonio for a day trip and also went south to Sierpe and all around the Dominical area. I was out on the patio every morning and evening because the view of the ocean was amazing. Dave and Deb were more than hospitible, setting up our snorkeling, zip lining, surfing lessons, and mangrove tour for us. They really helped us out since we were a little dusty on our spanish. We had a great time here and hope to come back some day. ·By Amanda L. from Chicago for a stay in 3/1/2010 (As shown on Trip Advisor -11/6/10)

We found this property to be excellent. The view is amazing.Very comfortable housing the veranda is the best. The only drawback is the road noise at night. However this is compensated by the ability to walk to the beach and of course the view.It is difficult to find property in this area with the ability to walk to the beach. Usually it is 4x4 up into the hills which is not fun to do more than once a day. This property is right on the road but felt very secure. The owners and host were very helpful!!!
