Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

Gloria and Newel have a 20-acre ranch with 8-10 horses, with children and grandkids all around them and in other states. Gloria is a successful oil artist with 700+ paintings all over the U.S.. Newel teaches guitar at a local university. They own a music publishing company, with books that sell nationally. The cabin they rent to others is much like the cabin they live in, so visitors get all the amenities, including the view of the 50 deer that feed with the horses in the winter.

Why the Owner Chose Victor

Victor, Idaho is the gateway to both Yellowstone and Targhee National Parks, with the world-famous Tetons. Jackson Hole, Wyoming is 22 miles away. The finest pioneer museum in the U.S. is but 12 miles away in Driggs. Golfing, rafting, hunting, fishing, downhill and cross-country skiing are all the best here, and close by (ask Dick Cheney about fishing on the Snake River). Horse-back riding is expected! The snow at Targhee, Teton Village or Snow King is the best in the United States. How about climbing the Teton Peak on New Years day?

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

Serene privacy and quietude, with near-by amenities. Weather is cool (80-85 degrees/daytime and around 40 degrees at night) and consistent in the summer. Sleep with a blanket at night - go in shirt sleeves in daytime. Scenery of the Tetons, lakes and rivers is unparalleled. Nice restaurants and movie theaters are near by.

A weekend away

Newel and Gloria, Thank you for a wonderful stay. We came into Victor hoping to find a cabin on the off season. ( Did not know it was off season till we got there.) We called on different cabins, all were shut down for the season or did not answer their phones. We decided to just head to Victor and see what we could find. Did not find anything Thursday except a Guest Haus in Driggs. We found your listing on the VRBO site. When we called you where very helpful on such short notice. Within minutes of the phone call we met at the cabin and Newel even de-winterized the hot tub for us. They thought of everything and the cabin was spotless. I highly recommend this for a peaceful getaway.

Owner response:Thanks to you Charlie and Rebeka! We were happy that you found us after a frustrating search for an anniversary getaway, and, that you liked our place. We hope to see you again when you celebrate your next happy ten years! Newel and Gloria

This is a great little cabin in Victor that will serve as a nice base-camp to the Tetons. Takes maybe 30 minutes to get to the Park entrance on a clear weather day over the pass. Drive is beautiful and will give you a wonderful view of Jackson Hole on the way in from the ID side. The 2 bedrooms have ample space to sleep and dress. The upstairs (more for young kids) is a fun little hiding spot if you have little ones (stairs are very steep though). The kitchen has ample space to cook and prepare things. TVs are definitely not a highlight (very small and very terrible reception for cable), so don't bank on watching a whole lot of things in your downtime, even DVDs didn't play real well at all (25 year old TV!). The hot tub is absolutely perfect to end a long hiking/skiing day. Big enough for 4-5 with nice views around the overhang for star-lit skies. The fenced-in yard is enough to let your pet do their business without letting them roam wildly around roads and other yards. The cabin is on a dirt road pretty close to the main hwy that goes to Jackson Hole. I wouldn't say it is by any means secluded or away from ambient noise or other people's living quarters. It isn't noisy but it isn't 20 acres of your own land either. There really aren't any views to speak of at all. You will have to get in the car and drive to get away from the base of the foothills it is near. So, don't plan on having coffee on the porch and watching Elk run in the foreground of the Tetons...it just isn't there! Porch is great with chairs and a picnic table. Even has a nice BBQ grill for steaks and what not. Beds are ok, nothing to write home about but will do for a few days stay. Overall, it has what you need but not a whole lot of extras except the hot tub is a very nice touch. We would totally stay here again, just don't expect 5-star amenities...which you would be stupid to do renting a cabin in ID!! It is more of a comfortable place to sleep, eat, relax a bit in the hot tub and get going again the next day in the surrounding areas.

I rented the cabin during the winter of 2010 (Jan-April) and had a BLAST! The cabin is super cute, clean and cozy, and is close to great skiing and hiking. I had friends visit me from AK, OR, UT and MT, and they were all impressed by the cabin and all that Teton Valley has to offer. Thanks so much to Newal & Gloria for renting to us!

Stayed here for the whole snow season of 2008 - 2009 and had such a good time that we bought a house in the area. This cabin is a wonderful base for enjoying all the beauty of this region and is very well situated. I would highly recommend it to anybody. Thanks to Newel and Gloria

Our stay in the Kimball cabin was truly memorable. Not only was the cabin immaculate, as many others have noted before, but the thoughtful little touches throughout were a real surprise. We especially liked the washer and dryer, completely functional kitchen, hot tub (with towel hooks nearby--apprecated on two cold evenings!) and the in-wall space heaters in the bathrooms. And as a bonus, we probably saw 50 deer wander by our cabin during our stay. It made us remember that the whole world isn't all concrete and BMWs. We highly recommend this cabin if you want to hole up and just relax--or use it as a base for an extended stay in the beautiful Tetons.

Hello Newel and Gloria, how are you? I just wanted to send you a quick note to say "thanks" again for your great hospitality during our stay at your cabin. My best friend and I planned a father and son trip with our boys to the Jackson Hole area and staying in your cabin truly made our trip a lot of fun. You guys have thought of everything. Whatever we needed, it was there! The view, kitchen, tv's, front porch and the jacuzi all made our trip much more fun than staying in a hotel. My son is already talking about next years trip with mom this time. We all enjoyed meeting you both, you are great folks. I wish you the best life has to offer! Thanks for making our trip a success! What a great little cabin in a comfortable and quiet setting. It was so nice spending time sitting on the porch. So much more relaxing and enjoyable than a hotel room. Thanks Newel and Gloria

The cabin is delightful and has all of the comforts of home and amenities of a hotel. The western motif and furnishings are absolutely adorable. What a wonderful cozy place to stay with so many nearby places to explore. I look forward to returning and recommend a stay at the Kimball cabin during any season of the year.
