  • Perfection

"We were two couples, one up from LA and one from San Francisco, looking for a nice place to relax in the evenings after exploring Yosemite. This was the best! All instructions for operating anything in the house were clear and everything was labeled. We wanted for nothing. The best part was stargazing (I saw two shooting stars!) in the hot tub at the end of the night and cozying up by the wood burning stove. We will be back!"

  • Great Location For Visits To Yosemite Or Just A Get-Away

"We've stayed at several VRBO properties and would rate this our most favorite, because of its location, comfort, decor, cleanliness, and friendliness/thoughtfulness of the owner. First of all, Sunset Roost is aptly named because of the spectacular sunsets from the deck. We even found ourselves timing our daily departures from Yosemite to get back to enjoy those sunsets! The kitchen is spacious and very well equipped. The furniture is very comfortable. The decor is very tasteful. The hot-tub is an added bonus. Rosemary grows all around the property. Wild life abounds, including hummingbirds. It's a total close-to-nature sensorial delight. There is zero light pollution, so the stars sparkle brightly, the planets wander, and the Milky Way splashes across the night sky. Mariposa is a fun western town only about 15-20 minutes away with various restaurants, pubs, pizza, gas, groceries, etc., so the necessities of civilization are within comfortable driving distance. We could not recommend this property more highly!"

  • Lovely cabin, great location, lots of wildlife

"We had a fantastic week long stay in Lower Meadow cabin. What a peaceful and beautiful setting! We had deer visiting every morning and most evenings, right outside the front door by the big oak tree. It was lovely to watch them while having our breakfast. It was also fun watching the squirrels and the great variety of birdlime, including bluebirds, quails and woodpecker. The cabin is very comfortable and spacious with plenty of cupboards and storage space. The weather was very hot when we were there and the cooling system worked perfectly and soon cooled the cabin down when we returned after being out all day. We were prepared most of our meals in the kitchen, which was ideal after spending the day out sightseeing. The washing machine and dryer were also very useful, although the addition of an iron and ironing board would have been useful. The location is perfect for visiting Yosemite and is about the same distance from the west or south entrance. It is good to try both routes if you have time as the scenery is completely different! It is a 10-15 minute drive to Mariposa, a charming little town with shops, cafes and restaurants. If you have time visit the Old Courthouse and the Museum and History Center. The courthouse is the oldest operating one in California and is very interesting. Both places are well worth the visit. The Pioneer Market in Mariposa is great for buying all your provisions. You can also buy food etc. at the Triangle Road store, which is only a mile away but not so much choice and a bit pricier, although gas is very cheap there. We also ate at the cafe there one night and the food was very good. Call in at the Mariposa Coffee Company on your way back from Mariposa on the 49 just a few miles from the cabin. If you go when the coffee is being roasted the smell is amazing. We bought some of the 49er blend and it was very good! For any railway enthusiasts, my husband found out about an old Shay logging locomotive, caboose and turntable just off the 140 at El Portal on the way to Yosemite. It is where the old railway used to run. It really was worth the few extra minutes on our journey to see it and it's free! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin and if we ever have the opportunity to visit the Yosemite area again, we would definitely choose to stay there again!"

  • Thanksgiving Get-Away

"Our kids and grandkids live in the Bay Area and we live in the Seattle area. This home was the perfect place for us to meet and spend Thanksgiving together. The 4 parents and the 4 kids slept upstairs and Grandma and Grandpa stayed in the downstairs suite - perfect for all! I will never forget the delight in the grandkids' faces as they explored the trails, the tree house, the pirate ship and the game room. They live in a big city so it was wonderful to give them the freedom to run and play. We especially enjoyed watching the deer around the property. The house was furnished with everything we needed. The towels and linens were nice. We spent one day at Yosemite and the rest of our stay at the house where we found plenty to do. We could text on our phones but had no strong cell service. That turned out to be great as we forgot about our electronics and spent quality time playing games, walking and visiting. Thank you to the thoughtful owner of this gorgeous property for creating some special memories for our family."
