  • Pleasurable Disney Trip

"Thank you so much Donna for having us in your beautiful villa! It was just perfect for our family of 6. Plenty of room and all of the accommodations we needed for a successful, pleasurable stay. We will absolutely be back in the future and will be sending our friends and family your way!"

  • Wonderful Home for Thanksgiving Stay

"We have just returned from our Thanksgiving week stay. The home was flawless. Absolutely as pictured and we loved every minute of it. The rental company is super easy to deal with and local so any issues can be addressed immediately. It took us about 15 minutes to get to Disney and about 25 minutes to get all the way to Universal. It was a nice location. It was located in a lovely community with lots of room to walk our dog in comfort. The only downside for us was that it was quite cool (50's and 60's) most of the week. Unfortuntately the pool heating system is absolutely unable to keep up with anything under 70 in my experience. We were able to use the hot tub one day (and it was warm but not hot), and we were never able to use the pool. I would not have paid to heat the pool if I had known the system couldn't keep up."

  • Home Away From Home

"The minute we walked into the condo, we were 'home' - only warmer!! Indiana had some pretty harsh weather this winter, but we were cozy and warm in the Florida sunshine. The condo was sparkling clean with plenty of room for the belongings of a retired couple. Add to that a well-stocked kitchen and you have a winner. The view of the river and the ability to bring our boat was a winning combination for us. We took full advantage of the river and also all the wonderful walking trails in Dunnellon. This is a great spot for a quiet get-away with a wonderful view."

  • Terrific Downtown spot

"My family and I stayed at Karen's house over this Labor Day weekend. It was wonderful. It is a nice 2 bedroom / 1 bath located in the historic district. The bedrooms are good sized. The master has a beautiful king sized bed and the second bedroom a very comfortable full sized bed. The main living space is huge with very comfy furniture. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked. There is a very nice little fenced back yard. 2 adults, 2 11 year-olds and 1 dog stayed. All were quite comfortable. The house is located in a great spot - we walked all around downtown Orlando from it (Thornton Park, Lake Eola, etc). It's easily accessibl from the highways (we both went South to the parks and up north to Lake Mary and Apopka during our stay). Karen (the owner) could not be nicer or more responsive. If you are looking for a great central location...this is the place."

The Villages Travel Tips

The retirement community of The Villages is located in sunny, central Florida. It is 20 miles south of Ocala and 57 miles northwest of Orlando in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. This development is home to more than 51,000 people and the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the U.S. as well as the fastest-growing small town.

The Villages' history dates back to the 1960s when Harold Schwartz, a Michigan businessman, sold land to retirees looking to escape to a warmer climate. Today, the descendants of Harold Schwartz and his son H. Gary Morse still control The Villages.

The Villages Attractions

The master-planned retirement community offers several forms of recreational activity. The Villages has numerous golf courses and offers "Free Golf for Life." Thirty-two of the courses are 9-hole layouts while the remaining 10 are country club championship courses. Two additional courses will be 27-hole layouts with a total of 621 holes of golf by the end of a final course build?-out.

Visit the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort and take a step back in time. This museum is home to the largest collection of antique horse-drawn carriages in the U.S. and is one of the largest in the world. There are more than 160 carriages from Europe and America, including the 1850 Ambruster Dress Chariot that once carried Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth.

You can do plenty of shopping without leaving The Villages. There are boutiques scattered throughout the town squares, including many of the country's most popular brands. There are also grocery stores, pharmacies and superstores that will help you find everything you need. You can even venture throughout The Villages on your golf cart, the most fun way to travel through a small town.
