  • Great lake house!

"This is a great house for a big group, because it has gathering spots inside and out for a crowd, but private, quiet bedrooms when you want some privacy. Nicely decorated with all the amenities, including washer/dryer. Big driveway for multiple cars. Small beach in front of the sea wall is perfect for children to play or to launch kayaks."

  • Great for large group - lots of beds & HUGE grounds to roam

"We had barn house & farmhouse. Since we mostly had adults in the farmhouse, it was always quiet there. The farmhouse has all window air conditioners (that only worked so-so) & ceiling fans. The barnhouse has the kitchen & all the living and eating areas plus full bathrooms on the main floor & upstairs. The vast majority of the barnhouse is rough-hewn wooden beams which makes it virtually indestructible. Compared to other rentals where I worry the kids might damage something, the barnhouse was great for the kids to play and run with no worries. There was 1 queen bed in the laundry room behind the kitchen on the main floor. Upstairs were 3 private bedrooms (2 with queen beds and 1 with a queen and a twin). There was also a big dormitory-style bunk room with 8 bunks that worked well for filling up with kids. The upstairs also has lots of tables & seating. Mostly the kids used it for playing board & card games or sitting on the sofas to watch TV. There was also a long bar where we sat & talked one evening. Plus there was an area with a very long table & chairs. We didn’t eat there but did move them out to make a big open space for our square dance. Elk Ridge Ranch is quite isolated from neighbors which made it nice so we could be as noisy as we wanted and not worry that we were bothering anyone. Also it was comforting to know the kids could run all around and there were no busy streets or hazards like a swimming pool. There is no place for bigger kids to ride bikes or skooters since all the driving surfaces are gravel - though small kids can ride trikes on the sidewalk. The wifi doesn’t always work; comes and goes. Adults enjoyed walking over to golf & to fish on the grounds. We also had a lot of fun sitting on the wooden benches around bonfires in a giant wire basket. We paid Dave, the owner, to take all of us on a hay ride. It was fun & he let the kids take turns helping him drive the tractor. They loved that. Our group also enjoyed going to the pioneer village at Spring Mill State Park, Holiday World Amusement & Water Park, deluxe golfing at Sultan’s Run, the French Lick casino, and swimming at a beach at Patoka Lake. We were lucky the big Stassenfest Festival was going on in Jasper when we were there. There were more things in the area that we wanted to do but ran out of time so will have to wait for our return to Elk Ridge Ranch."

  • Cozy, Quiet, and Close to the Beach

"Dreamwold House is incredibly cozy and comfortable. We used every bit of the property - coffee on the patio, games & meals on the porch, visiting in the kitchen, and relaxing in the living room. There is plenty of sleeping room for six adults, and Mariya and Ian keep the place sparkling and inviting with lovely decor throughout. The beach themes in the bedrooms provide an extra coziness with four poster beds and antique furnishings throughout the house. The short walk to the beach was a great opportunity to see the deer and the lovely wooded properties of Michiana Shores. The private beach was extremely peaceful and quiet both during the day and at sunset each evening. The owners live close by and have truly thought of everything - from beach chairs to toys, to bicycle of all sizes. I highly recommend this property for adults, families with kids, or for a romantic getaway. Dreamwold House has it all!"

  • Ms. Spin

"The facility was quite charming. The rooms were very spacious for a home of that age. The stairs to the second floor are quite narrow and steep. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathrooms were nicely up to date."

Long Beach is a small community located on the shores of Lake Michigan. Since 1920, it has been a popular summer vacation destination for families. In recent years, the population of permanent residents has grown and with it the number of stores and facilities available on the lakeshore has also grown. People who come to stay at Long Beach enjoy the serenity and many water sports that the lake has to offer. Boating enthusiasts can launch their boats at one of the many slips on the shoreline and hire a private mooring for the duration of their stay. If you don’t own your own boat, you can inquire about boat charters available. Fishing is one of the most popular pastimes and anglers from all over come to spend many relaxing hours out on the water. Bait and fishing tackle can be found in the local stores. Large dining areas, open decks and barbecue facilities provide several dining options. Parents can sit on the deck and relax with a good book while the kids play in the shallows of the lake. If you have your boat moored nearby, you can take a late afternoon sunset cruise and watch the sun dip below the horizon. If your preference is something simpler, there are cozy cottages for two. The furnishings are still comfortable and you will have more than enough space to relax and enjoy your lakeside vacation.
