  • Beautiful home on a private lot for a much needed getaway!

"The owners were so personable. The cabin is beautiful, well kept and very clean. We loved the private lot, yard and hot tub. My boyfriend is a chef so we always look for a full sized kitchen because we love to shop in town and make fabulous meals together. The home is very spacious and the AC works great. We were there during a major heat wave! This trip was one where we went to Patoka Lake beach one day, rented a pontoon for a day, went to the French Lick winery for tastings and dinner, checked out the casino, resort, the dome... it was all so much fun and the best part is the cabin is only 10 minutes from downtown French Lick so it was easy to get around everywhere. We are looking forward to a fall/winter trip for either hiking or skiing and I would recommend this cabin to everyone."

  • LOVED this place!!!!!!

"We are from the Washington DC area and booked the Lake House to stay in because our daughter got married at an orchard in Bloomington and none of the condos in downtown bloomington were available. I am a city girl. I am NOT a cabin in the woods girl. BUT....this cabin was amazing. The pictures really don't do it justice, in my opinion. It was clean, beautiful, and more than suited our needs. I catered the wedding and, though I'd done most of the cooking in DC and transported it, the kitchen in the cabin was a Godsend to be able to do the finishing touches. I brought much of my own equipment, but could have packed much lighter. There's plenty there for most cooks to be able to put a meal together. I wish we had planned to stay longer to be able to really relax and enjoy the place and the surroundings. It feels superbly secluded, but you are still within about 10 minutes of suburban civilization (grocery and other shopping and restaurants) and 20-25 minutes of [the very cute] downtown Bloomington (We strongly recommend the Irish Lion restaurant on Kirkwood Avenue). There are journals on the living room table in which previous guests have written about their stays in the cabin. We enjoyed reading those the first night. We did use the hot tub, which was incredibly welcome after an 11 hour drive. We didn't get to meet Peter and Suzanne, but I spoke to Peter on the phone a couple of times and he was incredibly nice. If it weren't so far away, this would be a place we would ABSOLUTELY frequent."

  • Perfect low key family summer lake cabin!

"This place is "perfectly cabiny" as I call it. The place was just great for our family with two small children who wanted a place near the beach (about a 2 block walk) but so we could have some of the comforts of home so kids could eat, play & nap etc. No, it's not brand new, but this place is clean & well maintained, and has modern comforts of air conditioning, cable & wifi. Even though it's atop quite a hill, there is a nice yard area for kids to run around a bit too. You will be thankful for that uphill walk because of the great coffee/ice cream shop just around the corner, we visited every night! The pizza place is also delicious. The beach is beautiful & we set up our umbrella and blankets every day. Our kids could play in the sand and swim. If it's not beach weather...a several blocks away at the community center, there's a nice big playground for kids."

  • Great place at a great location

"We rented this place for our wedding and couldn't be happier. The house is served as the group HQ as it's close to campus, shopping centers, restaurants, etc. The house was able to able to accommodate the 14 people staying there, as well as all of our guests with plenty of room. The owners went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay, and even included a special gift basket. Next time I'm in town, I intend to stay here, and continue to recommend it to all friends and family."

Long Beach Travel Tips

Visitors to Long Beach Vacation Rentals

Long Beach is a small community located on the shores of Lake Michigan. Since 1920, it has been a popular summer vacation destination for families. In recent years, the population of permanent residents has grown and with it the number of stores and facilities available on the lakeshore has also grown. People who come to stay at Long Beach enjoy the serenity and many water sports that the lake has to offer. Boating enthusiasts can launch their boats at one of the many slips on the shoreline and hire a private mooring for the duration of their stay. If you don’t own your own boat, you can inquire about boat charters available. Fishing is one of the most popular pastimes and anglers from all over come to spend many relaxing hours out on the water. Bait and fishing tackle can be found in the local stores. If you want to find out the season’s best fishing spots, check in with the locals and they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Stylish Living at Long Beach Lake Houses

The vacation homes available at Long Beach cater to all budgets and tastes. The up-market traveler can enjoy staying in a spacious luxury lakeside home that has multiple levels, large living areas and expansive gardens. Because these homes cater for large groups and families, the kitchens are well equipped. A bonus is to have a dishwasher so that cleaning up after meal times isn’t a fuss. Large dining areas, open decks and barbecue facilities provide several dining options. Parents can sit on the deck and relax with a good book while the kids play in the shallows of the lake. If you have your boat moored nearby, you can take a late afternoon sunset cruise and watch the sun dip below the horizon. If your preference is something simpler, there are cozy cottages for two. The furnishings are still comfortable and you will have more than enough space to relax and enjoy your lakeside vacation.

Things to Do near Long Beach Lodging

Most activities at Long Beach involve water sports. Fishing is a firm favorite and you would be wise to pack your fishing gear and picnic basket so that you can enjoy many lazy days on the lake. If you’d like to try your luck in deeper waters, you can hire boats or a fishing guide from the local community. Boating and waterskiing are also widely enjoyed in the summer months. The lakeshore has some great beaches and this is the perfect place to spend the day with the family. There is usually a ballgame going on and loads of kids entertaining themselves. Several picnic areas have bathroom and barbecue facilities. For a day out, you can take a drive around the lakeshore and visit some of the lakeside communities. There are many excellent restaurants where you can enjoy a home-style meal. Browsing the stores, you may be able to find some quirky souvenirs or gifts to take back home. Several craft stalls and art galleries showcase the talents of local artists.
