  • Beautiful and Relaxing

"My husband and I just finished a week's stay at this lovely South Thomaston home and couldn't be more pleased with our experience. The home is located directly on the Weskeag River providing a beautiful view from the back deck where we enjoyed our morning coffee, or from the chairs near the river bank in the evening sipping a glass of wine. We made use of the easy river access for kayaking once we got used to the tides. A well-equipped kitchen came in handy for a lobster dinner one night, and as a whole, we enjoyed the quiet comfort of the home. Many thanks to Jon & Kate for their thorough assistance in getting us settled in with details about everything upon our arrival -- and for their patience, as our flight was delayed, so we were later than expected. The home is in a terrific location: Rockland is a short drive away, so during our stay we visited the Farnsworth, had lunch at Cafe Miranda, and a fabulous sushi dinner at Suzuki's. A bit farther up Hwy 1 in Rockport, we enjoyed meals at Shepherd's Pie, then Natalie's near Camden. Although we didn't eat at Primo this trip, it's a short trip north on Rte 73 and delicious! We enjoyed both Owl's Head and Marshall Point Lighthouses on our visit, taking time to hike around Owl's Head during low tide, and returning for the sunset because it's such a short drive from the house. I could go on and on, but think I've made my point -- a truly lovely place to stay!"

  • came back for second year in a row for family vacation

"we had such a great time last year that we came back for our family vacation again this August. The accommodations were perfect. The cabin is on a cove. We drank coffee on the deck and watched the sunrise over the ocean. We skipped rocks and collected shells during the day. At night, we grilled burgers and ate lobster under the stars. We used the kayaks to get to a secluded beach that the neighbors told us about. We used the place as a base camp to explore interior Maine and along the coast. It is an ideal location because it is very near lots of attractions, but distanced enough from the tourism and traffic that it provides a real escape and adventure. It is also unique in that the towns it is near are real towns and not just generic tourist towns. The cabin has two bedrooms, a warm and inviting living/ dining area and a kitchen with everything necessary to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The owners are kind and generous folks and that is obvious in our interactions with them as well as in the vibe of the home. It feels warm and welcoming. Highly recommended."

  • Vacation Delight!

"We loved our vacation on the lake! Our family comes every year and haven't been disappointed yet! It's a great way to start our summer season. The area is beautiful with lots of sight-seeing and adventuring to do if interested. We could even be quite content to stay at The Nest, sitting on the dock and kayaking on the lake all day. Area restaurants are fabulous and everyone is as friendly as can be. Wonderful family memories!"

  • 4 old friends having a reunion.

"Beautiful! This house provides a place to find serenity and contentment; to de-stress and relax. One week is not long enough. The owners represent the best in hospitality. The attention to detail in the house is amazing. Can't think of what we needed that wasn't provided even when the owner had to make a special trip to get it. The beds are comfortable, views are spectacular, location is convenient to Port Clyde General Store and 2 restaurants. Rent a kayak and cruise the coastline. Sit on the deck and watch the ducks, eagles, hummingbird, and herons. Smell the salt air mixed liberally with the beautiful roses. Can't wait to come back."
