We couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable place; enjoyed every minute of the time we had here.
Home away from home in AK
The property is in a great location with fantastic views. Very clean and well appointed. Peacefull sound of the spring next to the home. Mark and Peggy were very accommodating, went above and beyond answering all of our pre trip questions. Highly recommended.
ps. Moose grazing in the powerline right of way on lignite springs road.
Wonderful home in a gorgeous location
My family and I had a wonderful stay in Healy at Lignite Springs. The Menkes were perfect hosts, attending to every detail. The home overlooks a gorgeous view and we found it to be both very clean and comfortable. We hope to stay again in the future!
Great location when visiting Denali NP.
Our family of 8 stayed at Lignite Springs to celebrate our parents 60th wedding anniversary and found the home to be very accommodating. The views from the deck or the incredible living room windows were incredible and sound of the spring next to the house was very soothing. Peggy and Mark could not have done anything else to make our stay any better. We had a welcoming message on the chalkboard when we arrived and a note on the table indicating that it may be getting cold and to call if we needed additional blankets. Peggy also mention that we may have an opportunity to see the northern lights but unfortunately, we never saw them even though we got up between midnight and 2 AM. Peggy gave us a local location to pick wild blueberries and we were able to pick about 2 or 3 pounds which were great in our pancakes. There are numerous brochures for things to do in the Healy area. The house is a few miles north of the entrance to Denali NP and hotels and restaurants just north of the park entrance which is great if you want to get away from the cruise ship tourists and their buses and enjoy the peace and quiet. We saw numerous “signs” of wildlife on the property and enjoyed looking at all the varieties of mushroom (wish we knew which ones to edible and which ones to avoid). We saw moose on the road leading to this property nearly every day but none up near the house. While grilling outside, birds that we later learned were Gray Jays, kept trying to steal our food and even tried to fly away with a paper plate. They were fun to watch. There is a grocery store in Healy if you forget something but it is very expensive compared to stores in the lower 48. We found the property to be exactly as it was advertised and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks Mark and Peggy for sharing your beautiful home with us. If you book this property, you will not be disappointed.
A perfect place to stay when visiting the Denali National Park
Peggy is place is very nice. It’s very secluded and surrounded by nature. The direction given by the host is very clear and we had no trouble finding the place. The house is clean and equipped with everything with a comfortable stay. Peggy and her husband was super helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out on the first day. They were there to unlock the house for us within 15 minutes. We had a great time staying there. Highly recommended.
About Peggy Menke
We have lived in Healy Alaska since 1982. We came to Alaska from the Mid-West looking for adventure and never left. We enjoy the beauty and outdoor activities that make Alaska a special place to live or visit.
Peggy Menke purchased this House in 2016
Why Peggy Menke chose Healy
We live just down the road from our new VRBO, we always admired this property for its privacy and fantastic view. The fresh water spring provides that soothing peaceful sound that makes the rest of the world disappear for a few moments while you sit on the bank and listen to nature. When this property became available for purchase we jumped at the opportunity.
What makes this House unique
Close to the wonders of Denali National Park, yet remote enough to offer its own wildlife experiences right in our own yard.
