About Mike Travis

We relocated to Colorado from Dallas, TX in 1999. My wife and I met in Dallas and were heading to Colorado about 4 times a year so we finally decided to move there. We chose Estes Park to start and then decided where we wanted to live permanently and we fell in love with the community and the area and decided to stay. It is a great place to visit.

Mike Travis purchased this house in 2004

Why Mike Travis chose Front Range

We live in our house 3 months a year and we live in North Carolina the remainder of the year but we always love coming back and being here.

What makes this house unique

We remodeled the house when we purchased it in 2004. We used sustainable materials and opened up the main living areas and added lots of windows so you really feel like you are in the mountains when you stay here. Lots of wildlife to view as well.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Gosh It's been a while since we had our retreat at your beautiful home. Your home was a wonderful success for our retreat. We were blown away when we walked in at just how perfect it was for our focus on the Expressive Arts, Yoga and looking within. The kitchen was magic-we had an ayurvedic cooking evening on the Sat night involving all participants and delicious food-such a communal space. We set up the studio for authentic movement, yoga and meditation creating our own sacred space...we called it the 'Manaka Hara room'. Carrie taught yoga out on the back outdoor area overlooking the mountains and I had all of the Expressive Arts workshops on the dining table...fairy lights over the windows, candles, chocolate truffles and meditative music...such a creative and relaxing environment.

Carrie and I are so grateful for such a ideal environment for our first retreat. You and your wife have beautiful taste- warm, real and welcoming. We would love the opportunity to have future retreats in your home and would like to remain in contact. Please enjoy the attached photos of our special weekend.

Beautiful house!

The house was our home for 7 days. it was everything and more for our family. We had great views of the mountains and the wild life showed up every day elk, deer and even a bear. It was a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

Wonderful family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property! The views were spectacular and we loved that we continuously saw wildlife, including rabbits, deer, elk, hummingbirds, etc. Mike was available if needed; he was a great host. The house was beautiful and clean. And, the kitchen was nice and big so we could cook big family meals. Great place!

Over priced. We stayed in a luxury house with 5 bedroom for a week in Colorado Springs for the same.

  • 3 of 5

The kitchen was nice and had plenty of cooking supplies. The grill was out of propane and we needed more toilet paper and we got it as soon as I let the owner know. The only complaint which is a big one is the beds. The mattresses to all the bed were awful.very uncomfortable, time for new ones. Thanks for sharing your home.

Great location and lovely house

  • 5 of 5

This home was conveniently located but also in a quiet neighborhood where we saw deer in the morning and enjoyed the quiet seclusion. Everything you need to cook with and the house was well cared for. I might recommend throwing in a roll of TP in your suitcase because there were about 12 squares left on one roll for both baths, and 4 people to split it, until we could make it to the grocery store the next day. But loved our stay and the house!

My family just loved staying here. Plenty of room with all amenities. Wildlife very near...elk came in late afternoon. Easy drive to town and park entrance. All listed items/services were available (and enjoyed by us).

The home is beautiful and filled with nice art, however some of the house policies seemed a little tacky. And the house was not that clean, I was the first to shower in one of the bathrooms and the tub was full of long hair. Gross! There is an information sheet in the kitchen that states they have supplied a "bit" of supplies and you are expected to replenish them. The rental fee on this house is not cheap and to expect you to replenish their supplies seems ridiculous. Even the cheapest motel does not expect you to replenish the toilet paper. The soap dispensers were empty and filled with water. No kleenex, lotion, shampoo the kind of things most rentals supply. I rented my house out on VRBO for a couple years and supplied everything the guest would need. They ask you to put the towels in the washer and start it , again they have doled out a tiny bit of detergent. The cleaning fee is higher than most, yet there is an envelope on the counter so you can tip the cleaning person, which leads me to believe the owner is keeping most of that fee. Someone had put the trash out before we arrived and Friday morning the police showed up very upset because the can had not been secured properly and a bear had gotten into the trash. The bear came back again the next night looking for more trash. This may be exciting for some visitors to see a bear but it is bad news for the bear. I live in Boulder and we have bear proof trash cans, if bears are caught more than twice in town they are shot.

The rationing of supplies, not even having hand soap for guests, just felt tacky.
