About the property

The space

This home is located up beautiful Coal Creek Canyon at an elevation of 8500 feet with unbelievable panoramic views of the snow capped Continental Divide. Enjoy your morning coffee taking in the majestic peaks out the kitchen windows or relax on the 1800 sq. ft two story deck watching the sunset during dinner. There is a wood burning fireplace to cozy up to while enjoying the smart TV, or you can challenge the family to a Foosball match downstairs. The home is nestled in a private pine forest with various rock outcroppings opening up to vast views.

The neighborhood

The central location allows easy access to all the city amenities of Boulder, Golden, and Denver while residing in the breathtaking Colorado mountains. Outdoor activity options are endless with hiking/snowshoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, Jeep/4WD trails, etc all in the immediate vicinity. The Roosevelt National Forest is just footsteps away. The casino towns of Black Hawk and Central City are a short drive through the mountains. You can also take the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway north to the town of Nederland to enjoy the unique shops and variety of festivals and events. Avoid the freeways as skiing can be had at Eldora Mountain Resort within a 20 minute drive. This is the perfect home base for any Colorado adventure.

Getting around

This property is located directly off a state maintained plowed and paved road. No special vehicle is required to access this property year round.

Interaction with guests

Guests will have complete privacy during their stay and will be provided a code for entrance. With that said, I live minutes away in the surrounding community and can be available as needed. I'm also very familiar with the local area and would be happy to help with any recommendations from the popular destinations to the hidden gems.

Other things to note

Most cell carriers will typically get a bar of service on the property. High speed Internet with WiFi is also provided so you can also use WiFi calling if needed.

About The Owner

I'm an avid outdoor enthusiast so lucky to live in the mountains of Colorado. If I'm not relaxing at home soaking in the views, you can likely find my wife and I exploring nearby trails and open spaces with our two pups, shredding the local singletrack mountain biking, or trekking up one of the many mountain peaks. The beauty and friendly, relaxed culture of Colorado truly never ceases to amaze me.

Disappointed Amenities were sub par. Place was not very clean.

Nice view. Very odd set up between Kitchen and fridge in laundry room no space to enter room. Nothing updated. No additional amenities like basic kitchen supplies (foul, paper towel (one roll), napkins, etc). Owner seems cheap.

Owner's Response: Hi David, really appreciate your time in writing a review and the feedback. My sincere apologies as the house clearly did not meet your expectations. I’ve tried reaching out to get more information and make things right, but I have yet to hear back. In lieu of additional feedback, I thought I’d respond to your comments to help future guests. With regards to the amenities, I try to advertise a unique mountain home with simple but functional amenities where the dominating feature is the view of the mountains and Continental Divide. The kitchen supplies are detailed in a packing guide provided to all guests prior to their stay (salt/pepper, cooking spray, pots/pans, plates, cups, utensils, appliances, etc). I was not made aware of anything missing, not working, or misleading in the property description/photos, but I would fix ASAP if that were the case. With regards to cleanliness, this is extremely important to me. I really want to investigate, fix, and make things right, but no details were provided during or after your stay except the paper towels in the review. I’ve asked my housekeeper to check the paper towels for future guests and also to reflect on your stay to improve upon anything that may have been missed since past reviewers commonly mention this as a positive. Thank you again David for your feedback, and I hope to hear back from you so I can make any additional adjustments.

fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cabin, would definitely book it again if I vacation in the area again. Great size for the 6 adults we had in our group. The only negative was that the cabin could use blinds installed to combat the sun in the afternoon for a few hours. For those few hours, a small part of the house was lit up pretty hot and bright.

Nice house with a fantastic view of the mountains!!

  • 4 of 5

House was nice and clean. Phil was very helpful prior to our trip and provided us with information about the house and surrounding area. He also checked in with us to make sure we got to the house ok and to see if we needed anything. The only downside was that the weather did not cooperate the couple days we were there so we weren't able to take advantage of the views. All in all, I would recommend this house (and owner) to anyone!

Beautiful views!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay here. Very comfortable for theee couples. The view is amazing and we lived having our morning coffee on the upstairs deck. The amenities are simple and dates, but functional. The tip about slippers was appreciated as the tile gets quite chilly.

We would stay here again.

Lovely view and exceptional responsiveness from owner

  • 4 of 5

This home is wonderful in many ways. The view and expanse of the 2 level porches made enjoying the view great. And Phil's responsiveness was particularly fast and helpful. Requests and questions about outdoor chairs resulted in prompt delivery of items requested and additional, wonderful outdoor chairs that exceeded everyones expectations. The house will benefit with some additional counter/storage space in bedrooms and bathrooms and more carpeting on bedroom tile. The home was also nicely located between all the sites we wanted to visit (Red Rock, Boulder, Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park).

majestic views from a secluded and comfortable setting

  • 5 of 5

The dominating feature of this property is the spectacular panoramic views. Photos really don't do it justice, it has to be experienced first hand to fully appreciate the setting.

For our family of four, this property was very spacious. The kids got their own bedrooms on the first floor which gave everyone room to spread out and some privacy. The kids enjoyed the foosball table and the short zipline in front of the house.

The second floor had amazing views from the main living and dining areas. The wrap around decks offered varied vantage points for soaking in the views, which we spent ample time doing.

There is an excellent Mexican restaurant very close by and a gas station with convenience store not far for basic supplies. Otherwise, the location is pretty secluded - we enjoyed being immersed in the environment. Golden and Boulder are accessible from the location. Phil compiled a helpful and through list of suggestions for hiking and other local activities. We took the scenic drive into Boulder he recommended which provided even more incredible views of the area including the nearby Gross Dam and reservoir.

Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend there to take advantage of more of the activities the area has to offer. We would definitely rent again. Phil was an excellent host, responsive to all questions and checked in periodically to make sure our stay was comfortable.
